The spell slots can have a combined level that is equal to or less than half your wizard level (rounded up), and none of the slots can be 6th level or higher. For example, if you're a 4th-level wizard, you can recover up to two levels worth of spell slots. You can recover either a 2nd-level spell slot or two 1st-level spell slots. | Ritual CastingYou can cast a wizard spell as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag and you have the spell in your spellbook. You don't need to have the spell prepared.

APPEARANCE

Age 26 | Height 2' 11" | Weight 38 lbs. | Hair Fire Red | Eyes Green | Complexion Ruddy

Mirrors are not a luxury most on the frontier could afford, but as a wizard some creature comforts are easily replicated. This being said, it was far easier to find a puddle to look into when he felt the desire to look upon himself. Unsurprisingly he still looked the same, bright red locks peaking out from under his hat, a beard to match lovingly stroked while smoking under a tree, and a rather obnoxiously large nose. Sharp dimples seemed ever present even as he grimaced at the dirt and mud streaking his face. Once vibrant green and blue robes and shoes were faded and stained by the wilderness, but they were far more comfortable now then when they had remained freshly cleaned and pressed at the academy.

Stepping back from the slow running river he had been staring into, with a brief stretch arms above his head he picked up in stave with one hand while running the other over his face to try in a vain attempt to clean some of the dirt away. His fingers ran over a thin face, compared to others of his kin. "Heh" a brief chuckle came out as he thought of what his mother would say if she saw him now. Probably sit him down and stuff him with eggs and sausages, rinsed down with a pint of strong ale. For all the magical powers in the world, he'd have no chance against it.

Not that he didn't like a large meal and good ale, but it was one thing to use magic to shave oneself in the wilds. To try and imitate some of Hagger's old brew and Farmer Maggot's fresh Pork and Eggs was unthinkable and unnatural. Not that he hadn't tried, though he groaned at the memory of what it had tasted like. Evocation had never been his strong suit.

As he walked along the bank, shrugging as he re-adjusted his faded green robes and retied his yellow scarf, a final parting gift from his mother several years prior, he walked on towards home. A small shack far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, where his studies awaited him, left open to where he had fallen asleep at last night. There wasn't long left before he would be done with them and be ready to report back on his discoveries, far more disheveled than he had left.

  • Personality Traits: An affable sort, he is helpful to a fault. Will always lend aid when others are in trouble.
  • Ideals: Raised to see and speak truth, there is too much effort required to lie. Sincerity and honesty are what we all should live by.
  • Bonds: I was accepted to the academy on the condition that I work off my debt later in life. I am now bound to their service until they are recompensed.
  • Flaws: A good cup of ale is divine, so is second, a third wouldn't hurt. I've come this far, why stop now? Keep the drinks coming.

BACKSTORY

Life moving slowly was the standard in the small village where he grew up. An exciting night was when Old Gobber drank an extra pint and spouted off a nonsense story before lighting himself on fire by accident, and these nights were talked about for months. The days were long and warm, barring the rainy season which was filled with soft rain and mornings with fields covered in dew. Animal care in the rustic village was a necessary and important job is what his father always told him, but eventually dreams for more came. A trader had come through the town, which in itself was normal on the monthly. However, this one came with tales of his journeys in a grand caravan filled with riches and treasures and exotic spices, but what was truly amazing were the adventurers that traveled with them. Warriors that were 8 feet tall, elves who could dissolve into shadows, and wizened old men who controlled the fabric of the world with their knowledge and magic. A young boy sat enraptured by these stories among his peers, but later in the night as the fires and lanterns dimmed he still sat begging the merchant for more stories.
Many years later, after what felt like a lifetime of dreaming, far away from the slow and peaceful life he arrived at the academy. No taller now then he was as a child he strode in as though he were a giant. With barely a coin to his name he worked tending animals and the gardens of the academy, reading in the library, teaching himself, and saving every coin. It wasn't until an unfortunate accident involving a bit of bat guano, a chicken, and the second year dorms that the academy made a him a deal. In exchange for proper schooling he would work for the academy as a traveling researcher, helping the current headmaster to compile a full and complete encyclopedia on the plants and wildlife of the lands. There were still several months left before his next report when he received a letter instructing him to return to the academy from his small hut in the woods. An opportunity for riches, fame, and access to the elusive and dangerous resources of the Stolen Lands had arisen, and he was being sent off on an entirely different type of expedition.
