  markus.png.b9e7e5961383a1ef633100837b025bb3.pngMarkus sees Roshini struggling with the orcs, her attacks bouncing off their armor. They're a lot sturdier than he expected, that's for sure.

Markus draws his bow with confidence thanks to his high ground advantage. If the Orcs turned to attack him they'd have a tougher time getting to him, so he wasn't worried about drawing their attention. Not only that, but being able to see down at the orcs allowed him to shoot through the gaps in their armor.

If he could at least take one of the orcs down with a well placed shot it would make things easier for his companions on the ground...

Actions & Results 

Shoot Orcs, basic roll 4.

High ground allows Markus to get a +2 from stunt "Angle of Advantage". (Can shoot at weak points from that angle.)

Used free invoke from CAA Atop the Ruins for further +2, (being out of reach of his enemies puts Markus' mind at ease and lets him shoot with confidence.)

Results

Result:

  • One half of Orcs have been taken out, sustained 1 Stress and 1 [2] Consequence. Dropping their skills by -1. 
  • The other half also sustained 2 stress.

Movement: Every Zone in play has a passive opposition to Movement of +2. In order to move into another zone characters must overcome the +2 passive opposition as a full round action. 

 

A few of the enemy immediately fell prone, taking cover as Markus loosed arrows into the mob. Pinned as they were, Fin gestured widely and fanned the flames even further, cooking the Orcs in their own fires. Once smoldering embers were all that remained of the campsite, she walked over and kicked the circle of stones loose.

The young girl was crying uncontrollably at the feet of Fin, who just sort of awkwardly patted her on the back.

"Yes thank you so much for saving our lives... Me and My daughter here are renowned gatherers, We hired an escort party to that swore they were strong enough to get into the ruins without difficulty. All of them were killed. Please escort us out of the ruins sector. I managed to pick this up from one of the slain party members, Im sure it could be more of use to you all."

  "Sure, we'll get you folks out of here. Just remember to spread the name far and wide, Markus Henderson," he said smartly to the old man and crying girl. Markus looked over his shoulder at the others, "oh and I guess Fin and Roshini helped too," he indicated with his thumb as if they were a side note. He didn't want to get roasted by Fin for forgetting to include her; he'd already had some of his hair singed off accidentally during this conflict and he'd prefer to keep what's left.

Just to give a formal update to the Request Guidelines:

  • The Quest states that the party cannot leave the sector. The party may still escort the couple out of the ruins sector without risk of failure. 
  • The campsite itself must be displaced which could not be done by fire in order to destroy the spawning point. (No roll needed.) 

Once the fires die out, the party is capable of displacing the stones that make up the firepit. Once done they would have successfully completed this task.

Roshini.pngSeeing the pair of people reunite and show their gratitude Ratri was instead going into the orc camp looking for the remains of the fire. She had a job to do after all, and the party needed to get the livers. Walking up to a corpse she pulled out a small knife and started cutting into the corpse of the orc carving the chest up. Finding the liver she carefully took it out before placing it in her satchel. Then she moved onto the next one. It was extremely gross and she was only doing it for the temple

Discipline: WarpI've learned the secret art of portals. With Athletics I can warp anywhere within sight, or to a well-known location. Destinations further away or less familiar increase the difficulty. I can also open portals with Rapport and forcibly pull things towards me or push them away with Provoke.

Danger SenseMy Notice skill works unimpeded by conditions like total concealment, darkness, or other sensory impairments in situations where someone or something intends to harm me.

DarkvisionI can see even in the darkest of places, and ignore any situation aspect invoked against me whose advantage comes from the darkness.

Leaving the two with Markus, Fin wandered across to Roshini and leaned over her shoulder, eyeing her handiwork.

"Looks like they'll need an escort back. Then we can get on with it." she said, gesturing to the others.

The couple was quickly escorted out of the sector by Fin. By the time she made it back to the others the livers were collected. This meant that it was time to move on to the next group of Orcs. 

A few blocks away within the Ruins sector a large smoke trail could be seen by the party.

  markus.png.b9e7e5961383a1ef633100837b025bb3.pngMarkus pointed towards the smoke with great exaggeration, "something tells me that what we're looking for is in that direction. Call it a gut feeling!" He looks over at Roshini apologetically, "no pun intended, good work with the guts and stuff." 

Some of the tension from the search lightened after that, though Markus knew better than to lower his guard. For all they knew, the smoke could be there to lure adventurers into an ambush. He warned the others of this and kept himself on high alert, scanning for any hints of hidden danger.

As she examined the smoke she drew her shield and got out her spear. Settling into a familiar stance that she had learned in the temple, aligning her body in a way that would allow fast movement with her spear yet still cover her weak spots with her shield. 

"That is probably another orc camp." She smiled a slightly terrifying smile. "We need more livers anyways."

After awhile, the party would finally enter into the area where the smoke was coming from, there was a large bonfire in the middle of the campsite.  Before even getting to the campsite the party would notice that there was a lot more activity happening in this area than the other campsite. The amount of Orcs here tripled in size along with there being multiple patrols coming and going from the area.   

Besides rubble surrounding the campsite there was not a lot of places to hide but there was a large worn-down building that towered over the campsite.

Targets in the Area

And just like that, Markus was atop the tower with Fin. He offered her a fist bump as the portal flickered out behind them.

"Thanks for not dropping us on our heads or something," he said with a wink and proceeded with the plan.

"Maybe you need dropped on the head more often." she muttered. Overlooking their quarry, Fin kneeled and began gathering power for the coming assault. The orcs seemed more alert than last time... this could be tricky.

 

 

markus.png.b9e7e5961383a1ef633100837b025bb3.pngMarkus pulled out the same kind of arrow he had used at the first camp, but unlike back then he was much better situated to get the perfect shot in. Markus aimed down at the orcs who were all gathered around the campfire and considered where best to shoot before loosing the flash shot straight at the fire pit. The heat from the fire allowed the powder in the arrow to detonate in a flash of white light and a resounding bang.
