New To Myth-Weavers

Hello, everyone!  Mirrorlocked here.  I am a new player here at Myth-Weavers.  As a matter of fact, I’m new to play by post in it’s entirety. Though I’ve done some gaming in the past with Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 I’m coming to Myth-Weavers hoping to find some Mutants & Masterminds and Call of Cthulhu games.  I have the needed books and have been studying them.

 

Thanks for stopping by!  Anyone have some advice for the new kid on the block?

I'm going to blatantly steal (and slightly modify the first paragraph of) @Yamazaki's welcome post from OGMW to respond. A lot of adds are still posted on the old site.

Welcome to the Weave, mirrorlocked. D&D 3.5 and M&M are both fairly active communities here. I'm less sure about CoCthulu because I don't personally play that.

Anyhow, in case you haven't seen it yet, here's a link to our New to Play by Post thread, which contains several handy links that you will likely find useful, including how our dice code works. We do things a touch differently than other sites, where we have game ads posted and prospective players apply. You'll want to swing over by our Games and Ads section to check that out! Every GM does it a little differently, so check the campaign info and forum for the exact details.

We support a very wide variety of systems here, ranging from good ol D&D (of all editions) to Pathfinder to Shadowrun to Fate to PbtA to OSR to, well, I don't think there's a system we don't support or have players for

. So if you spot something outside of your norm that catches your attention - go ahead and apply for it anyways. There is much to be gained by going outside of the box, after all, and most GMs are happy to help out a newbie.

Also, I recommend getting chatty through out the forums or even dropping by our Discord Channel, especially if you have questions. Just watch out for those welcoming harpoons - they're harmless... mostly 

You may also notice the mentions of Baldr - this is the beta of our new forums that has been slowly underway. You might not have login access right away if your account is newer (the dev team makes a transfer every week or two, so hang tight), but many folks have begun to transfer things over to the new forums. It very much remains a work in progress, so pardon the dust if you venture over there.

If you have any questions, let us know! Don't be afraid to ask, either - we do our best to help people out.

And that random bit there is why I re-wrote my boilerplate welcome text for Baldr...  the old OOC tags don't transfer cleanly LOL

That said, the revised text may need another pass.
