Wow. So even the specialized knowledge skill isn’t good enough. Incidentally Knowledge (business) gives you a synergy bonus, which makes sense.

So, DCs. DCs range from 1-20 (depending on how strict local laws are) just to avoid breaking the law as part of your basic day-to-day routine. The DC is +10 as soon as you’re trying to do something “simple” like rent a house, sell merchandise, etc. An auction would fall into this category.

Sample real-world examples: Canada is base 9, United States is 2, Russia is 14, Hong Kong is currently 18. Incidentally, the Abyss would be 0 and Hell would be 20, so China and the US are getting close. orc2.gif

So, the above DCs are for generally law knowledge not specific to a setting. Anyone actually from the place likely faces DCs 10 points lower.

In conclusion: I’d guess DC 22 for Knowledge (law), maybe DC 26 for Knowledge (civics), allow +2 for synergy from Knowledge (business), and auto-success for a local lawyer.
