"What?;.." Vahn muttered and gave Markus a strange look, as if coming out of a daze. He turned to look and there indeed were three figures who's cloaked backs, still in the dim of that giant arch, were dressed as much in mystery as shadow.

"What ever the path, we aught to avoid conflict if at all possible - I know not how long the guardian will remain ignorant to our presence.. and there are no guarantees that my gift can allow us all equal egress should the need arise.."

He could see no other path in the dark. Even his true-sight had not revealed a way.

Myria was sorely tempted to just go and try to cut a way through the sketchy silhouettes, but they might just be friendly, or at least not hostile. Fighting friendlies is something that should be done in a safer environment, after all. It might also be the frustration of having to basically sit out the last bout talking. After this, she should look into ways to handle ethereal beings. Maybe she could find someone willing to sell a sword that cuts ghosts...

"How about this? I go forward and say hi, while you watch me from behind. If they look like they want to gut me, you can ambush them!" she proposed, cheerily.

If she did not receive any objections, she would start leisurely approaching the people in the dark. "Hi! What are you doing here?"

markus.png.b9e7e5961383a1ef633100837b025bb3.png Myria having set her plan into motion, Markus quickly scrambled to climb the giant table for a high ground advantage against the would be foes they were possibly going to encounter shortly.

It was like climbing giant trees in a forest, something he'd done all too often. First, he made his way up the legs of a chair, then continued up the chair's back until he was able to get atop the table, which was strewn with bones and unidentifiable food scraps.

It was quite an exhausting climb, though the vantage point would surely prove to be worthwhile in the off chance that the cloaked figures really were hostile.

Myria receives no answer, and drawing closer you realize these figures are statues, each with an iron guildplate around their neck. The man closest to the archway has a hand raised in greeting and a look of complete surprise. The other two are together: one a swordsman, weapon readied and his furious expression directed past their leader; the last a seemingly desperate mage with a tearstained face, both hands pressed against her companion's shoulder as if attempting to cast a spell.

The archway is empty, and leads deeper into the mines.

"..they were turned to stone.." Vahn muttered as he joined Myria when her initial greeting was left in silence.

"..was the guardian to blame?; or does something more wicked yet await us, deeper within?;.." were the city as a whole not in danger of being consumed by some anomalous evolution of the dungeon, he would have suggested that they turn back and better prepare for such an encounter.

"Best we not dawdle.." Vahn took a deep breath and walked as quiet as his feet might allow.

Acrobatic Movement: Due to Olenna gains a +2 to Overcome Actions regarding Movement using the Athletics Skill. 

Evasion: Olenna has an amazing ability to remain unharmed when caught within the blast radius of an explosion. +2 to defend with Athletics against area attacks.

Song of Storms: When Olenna is weilding the Charged Rapier Once per engagement she is able to swing her sword towards the sky and create a "Thunder Storm" Aspect on the zone with one free invoke. This storm lasts until the end of the engagement or until it is narratively overcome. 

Lighting Dance: When Olenna is wielding the Charged Rapier she gains a +2 to all melee based defense actions using Fight. 

Magnetic Attraction:  The Charged Rapier is extremely dangerous against Metal Objects and when used against something metal gain a +2 Weapon Value upon successful attacks.

As Olenna slowly walked towards the figures she would realize that these were no normal statues but instead petrified adventurers. Making the connection, Olenna's eyes would widen as memories of what had happened to her brother and fellow soldiers instantly flooded into her mind.

Her face turned red and her heart would begin to pound out of her chest. " They are here." would be the only thing Olenna would say before quickly charging ahead of the group in an attempt to find the culprit.

At this point she had no regard for her team and would force her self forward.

markus.png.b9e7e5961383a1ef633100837b025bb3.png Markus still being on top of the table just sees everyone walk past the figures and Olenna even seemed to be in a hurry to move on. "Hey! Wait up, I think you're forgetting someone!"

Quickly, Markus descended by rope and scrambles to catch up, not wanting to be left alone in the cyclops' dining room. Only slowing out of surprise at seeing the true nature of the figures they'd been wary of. There were more dangerous things than even the cyclops it seems, and they were rushing straight at it?

spacer.png"Ack." Myria muttered, as the figures revealed themselves to be... statues. And not the nice, tame, artsy type, either. These may as well be corpses... products of petrifying magic, perhaps? Again, she was irritated that there was probably a threat that she could not fend with her blades. Well, perhaps if they could spot the magician before he could cast such a damning spell...

"Map Guy, do you know a way to defend against this---" she began to ask, since the man seemed to be the most knowledgeable among them, but before she could finish the question, Rapier Girl... well, seemed to have become upset by the stone gallery, for some reason or another. People can be strange at times.

"Ah, I guess we're throwing caution into the wind then! Sounds like my style." she chuckled, readying her blades and chasing after their errant vanguard.

Stone gives way to... roots? There was also moisture in the air, and the swordswoman took care to be always certain of her footing, just in the case the ground decided to be slippery, or lumpy with the cracks and the roots, as the case may be. With as much swiftness as she could, she followed.

May even be whoever is responsible for the summons and petrification. Put aside your grievances for a moment Olenna and work with us" Markus tries to reason with Olenna and stop her from rushing off on her own.
"We should work together to spring a surprise attack before they pull off any other tricks..." He ends with calmly, hoping others would agree to strike first and ask questions later.

He wasn't sure how much of this was getting through to Olenna as she maintained her quick pace towards the light source.

Vahn closed the formation and maintained a certain awareness of his surroundings and cringed as the voices of his fellow companions echoed off the slick walls that dripped with water from a source that pooled above, through the earth and stone. In the dim, he glimpsed the presence of wooden veins, vast tendrils that betrayed a forest or some great tree; were they so close to the surface, here?; were they not deep within the bowels of some perilous mine?;..

With a half-handed prayer, Vahn sent Aku forth, swift and true.. when it wasn't distracted by all that glitters.

The horrid memories would continue to flood through her head, completely overtaking her emotions and ability to communicate with Markus. Looking at her, he could see the passion in her eyes as they began to water and her face steamed red. Grabbing the hilt of her blade she would then rush forward towards the mage light ready to strike whatever stood in front of them. As she charged, the only thing she could see was her brothers smile from when they were younger.

Beyond, magelight illuminates a vast chamber with several side passages. Tunnel runoff collects in a shallow underground pool. The stonework here is choked with twisted vines and knotted roots, extending in all directions like an intricate web. Their tangled mass stretches throughout - rising to meet in the center, where a bulbous growth pulsates with an otherworldly energy, and the surface of the surrounding waters ripple in response.

Darkrobed men circle round the dungeon core, their gaze transfixed on glowing ichor spurting slowly and unevenly from a tap driven through its side. The fluid gathers in earthen vessels below, and one man raises a cup to the flow.

Olenna has the initiative and any action she takes within the first round is resolved instantly.

Narratively all other turns occur roughly at the same time afterwards and their mechanics are resolved at the end of the round. Therefore any boosts earned or advantages created are unavailable until the following round. Any action taken by intruders that would draw attention fills the Sisyphus track by one. Some examples include making noise, moving around with lights, or a single round of combat. The guardian will interrupt whatever the party is doing once the track is filled.

Acrobatic Movement: Due to Olenna gains a +2 to Overcome Actions regarding Movement using the Athletics Skill.

Song of Storms: When Olenna is weilding the Charged Rapier Once per engagement she is able to swing her sword towards the sky and create a "Thunder Storm" Aspect on the zone with one free invoke. This storm lasts until the end of the engagement or until it is narratively overcome. 

Lighting Dance: When Olenna is wielding the Charged Rapier she gains a +2 to all melee based defense actions using Fight. 

Magnetic Attraction:  The Charged Rapier is extremely dangerous against Metal Objects and when used against something metal gain a +2 Weapon Value upon successful attacks.

Olenna withdrew a potion and downed its contents in a single swig, eyes glowing blue as the magic overtook her. Stride now bolstered by haste, she sped forward silently in ambush, thrusting the charged rapier right through his black heart-

Sparks flew as the blade skittered uncannily across the surface, and her foe spun, batting the rapier aside with a bare arm. Olenna fell back a moment - she could see now that his petrifying magic shifted up and down the length of his body, forming an unyielding stone barrier.
