BACKSTORY

In the realm of Faerun, there exists a young half-elf named Arannis Summercream, who carries a tale of unlikely love, tragic loss, and a destiny intertwined with ancient powers. Arannis was born to a Silverhair Knight named Elysara, a devoted follower of the goddess Eilistraee, and a Drow male named Draven, who had renounced the dark ways of his people and joined Elysara's faith.

Their love was born in the most unexpected of circumstances. Elysara, a skilled and noble knight, was sent on a mission to investigate reports of Drow activity in the Underdark. During her travels, she found herself wounded and lost deep within the treacherous tunnels. It was there that she encountered Draven, who, against the expectations of his kin, offered her aid and protection. Bound by their shared devotion to Eilistraee and their mutual bravery, Elysara and Draven formed a deep bond. They fought side by side, overcoming countless dangers together. Their love blossomed amidst the darkness, and when they returned to the surface, Elysara discovered that she was carrying Draven's child.

Arannis, their son, was raised within a complex web of conflicting cultures and beliefs. Elysara sought to instill in him the values of honor, justice, and compassion of the Silverhair Knights, while Draven shared his knowledge of Drow history, magic, and the beauty of Eilistraee's teachings. Despite the challenges they faced as a family, they provided a loving and nurturing environment for their son, hoping he would grow up to be a bridge between the worlds of light and darkness.

Tragedy struck when Arannis was still young. During a mission, Elysara fell in battle, defending a village from a horde of marauding Orcs. As the Silverhair Knights mourned their fallen comrade, the young Arannis attended the solemn ceremony. It was during this ritual that the ancestral moonblade, a powerful artifact passed down through generations, unexpectedly chose Arannis as his new potential new wielder, and subject him to the bladerite without his will nor consent to do so. The blade sensed the bloodline and the potential within him, marking him as the heir to his mother's legacy. He survived the rite, and was dutifully bounded to the blade, therefore, was now the indisputable inheritor, with the powers and the duties that came with the bond.

Seeking to honor his mother's memory and fulfill the destiny bestowed upon him, Arannis decided to join the prestigious Academy of Adventurers, headed by the renowned Headmaster Vance. Through a stroke of fate, Arannis received a sponsorship from the Emerald Conclave, a faction that recognized his potential as a force for good and sought to guide his growth, but also had some tie to his mother and was eager to settle their debt with Arannis mother even after her death.

Arannis entered the academy with a mix of excitement and apprehension, eager to learn and prove himself, but weary that he hasn't what was needed to thrive there. The diverse student body consisted primarily of young adults, with the occasional prodigy and older students seeking to hone their skills. Tuition at the academy was expensive, but promising students often received reductions or even waivers, ensuring that talent would not be limited by financial constraints.

The academy's curriculum was divided into two semesters, each with a distinct focus and purpose. The first semester, known as "Swords and Sorcery," immersed the students in the intricacies of combat, teaching them the arts of offense, defense, and strategic thinking. Lectures by experienced adventurers and seasoned instructors provided theoretical knowledge, while practical training exercises honed their skills on the training grounds.

Arannis and his fellow students engaged in intense swordplay, archery drills, and combat simulations, learning the value of teamwork and discipline in the face of adversity. In addition to weapon mastery, they were introduced to a range of combat-related subjects, including battlefield tactics, creature anatomy, and the identification of magical effects.

As the first semester drew to a close, Arannis and his classmates faced a challenging exam. They were presented with a scenario that tested their ability to apply what they had learned in a practical setting. In Arannis's case, the exam involved a simulated rescue mission to free an imprisoned mage. The students had to navigate traps, defeat guardians, and employ their combat and problem-solving skills to successfully complete the task.

With the completion of the first semester, the academy transitioned into the second semester, titled "The Supplementary Soft Arts." Here, the students delved into a broader range of subjects that were essential for well-rounded adventurers. The curriculum encompassed diplomatic negotiations, wilderness survival, arcane studies, alchemy, and the unraveling of ancient mysteries.

Arannis attended lectures on diplomacy and negotiation strategies, where he learned the art of persuasive communication and the importance of understanding different cultures and perspectives. In the wilderness survival courses, he acquired essential skills for navigating treacherous terrains, tracking, and foraging for sustenance. The arcane studies introduced him to the fundamentals of magic, enabling him to recognize spells, manipulate magical energy, and develop rudimentary spellcasting abilities.

One of the most memorable aspects of the second semester was an immersive semester exam. Arannis and his classmates were tasked with a high-stakes mission to rescue a renowned mage held captive by a powerful entity. This exam pushed them to their limits as they faced real dangers, solved complex puzzles, and made critical decisions. It was an opportunity for the students to apply their collective knowledge and showcase their growth as adventurers.

As the academy year drew to a close, Arannis faced his comprehensive final exam—a culmination of his training and experiences. This final challenge thrust him into the heart of a daunting quest—to prevent the high priest Kalarel from summoning a terrible beast within the Chamber of the Shadow Rift. Armed with his mother's moonblade and the skills he had acquired at the academy, Arannis confronted the darkness with unwavering determination and pushing his companions to go through the ordeal with encouragement and by kindling their battle fury. Their teamwork, out of the box ideas and perseverance made them victorious from the ultimate test of his abilities.

With the final exam behind him, Arannis found himself awakening in an unfamiliar place, his memories of the graduation ceremony blurred. Uncertainty loomed as he contemplated his purpose and the path that lay ahead. It was in this state of awakening that his new adventure truly began, as he set forth to navigate the vast and unpredictable realms, armed with the legacy of his mother and the knowledge bestowed upon him by Headmaster Vance's Academy of Adventure.

@bwatford

PS: Can I exchange the moontouched weapon for a medium armor?

Thanks.

Thanks for the application and good luck on final selection. Everything appears to be in order.

If you would like to exchange the moon-touched item you can get 75 gp instead to go towards the purchase of medium armor.
