"Those beasts are from the Nine Hells or should be.” He meets Draven with a somber look of his own. “Tonight, those men feast in the halls of their Gods, Take hear my friend they fought bravely.” He stands and places his hand on the guardsman’s shoulder “That debt may well become due before we reach our destination, stay vigilant my friend.”

Elkor offers the remaining guardsmen a seat by himself and his companions as they pass away the evening talking of past adventurers, and of lost love, lost treasure, and lost sleep but not necessarily in that order.

~The Plains~

The night passes all too soon and Elkor is awoken long before sun up by the whispered conversations of the remaining guardsmen. Knowing that sleep will not come back to him the barbarian makes rounds with who ever is away and on guard duty. Once Dawn arrives Elkor goes to check his gear and feed and water his mount then helps gather the riderless horses and tethers them to the rear wagon

The next few days pass quickly the caravan maintains a quick pace pushing the steeds to the limit the caravan passes small villages as they make their way across the grasslands of Lemuria headed north. Now their destination the port city of Parsool was within a day’s ride, soon they would set sail aboard their ship and be away from the mainland.

A shadow swiftly passes over the caravan prompting everybody to look up “DRAGON!” Elkor yells as he draws his blade and spurs it toward the threat, His efforts were in vain however as the huge monster seems only intent on the rider less horses and is soon gone as fast as it appears.

Almost as if on que Elkor rides up next to one of the lizards and jumps onto his back from his own horse in an attempt to break him for riding.

Karim looked around at his companions. He had very little to do with beasts except during the youngest days of his youth among his tribe. Sandrunners were a different sort than these brutes, but no less aggressive. He had certainly read about kroarks. Every great city devoted something to using the beasts for cavalries to limited success. Satarla in its war with Tyrus had made use of them in the battle of blackened dust. These, however, were bred. Karim had no idea if these were feral or not. He knew not to approach them directly.

He loosened his sash and fashioned it into a collar to slip over the head of one of these things.

"Easy, my friend! Easy!" he approached gingerly, careful to approach from the side.

No real career to add other than Merchant for being nice, but I think that's a stretch too far. I'm adding in a bit to dip into his Scholar profession. Toss that +1 if you think that's also a bit too far stretched.

The Plains

Once again the victims of famished Lemurian wildlife, at least this time the adventurers could possible make some thing of a loss: while the caravan had lost several horses - mostly the unmounted mares of slain guardsmen - with the exceptional skill of Karim and others the party manages to quickly tame a couple of the kroarks for use as mounts!

Everyone has an unexpected but equally satisfying laugh when Elkor's attempt at 'breaking' one of the 'dragons' resulted in the Valgardian being bucked into the air and landing on the ground in a dusty heap!

KroarksTwo of the PCs can take one of the large bipedal lizards as mounts and their two legs can easily keep pace with the caravan's remaining horses ...

Parsool, Second City of Lemuria, evening

Everyone:

After pushing their steeds across the rugged Lemurian plains within a few days - finally - the caravan catches sight of smoke from the hearths of great Parsool! Soon enough the spires of the ancient seaport come into sight as well as the Lysorians draw closer with their party of commissioned warriors in tow. The adventurers meet travelers passing away and tarrying around the outskirts of Parsool as the sun sets and lamplights begin illuminating the cityscape.

Parsool builds the finest galleys, and boasts the finest mariners. Parsool’s constant battle with pirates has meant massive tax increases in recent years, and the citizens are close to revolt. The current King is Zandar Bley. Parsool is a windy, winding, sprawling city, always with some kind of building work going on. The buildings of Parsool are mostly wooden – the poor live in clapboard terraces, while the rich live in buildings of ornately carved hardwoods. All roads seem to lead to the sea in Parsool, and the constant cries of the sea-birds sometimes drive visitors mad. The city itself is reached by the coastal road, so you see it long before you reach the main city gate (one of the eleven city gates, in all).

Although the nobles pretend otherwise, trade rules in Parsool. The richest merchants love to display their wealth by wearing sumptuous fabrics and draping themselves in jewels. Parsool envies Satarla but is constantly engaged in sea battles with pirates, causing ruin for many of the merchants of this otherwise bustling and diverse city. Parsool’s sea navy is the most powerful in Lemuria. The only reason Parsool has not yet challenged Satarla is due to that city’s Sky-Navy. However, Parsool’s navy does include the most powerful warship ever built – the mighty Glory of Parsool.

A great high wall of worked stone surrounded the metropolis as the caravan closed on a tall wide gateway manned by several imposing armored and armed guardsmen bearing the banner of Parsool on their bronze chestplates. Archers paced the upper ramparts of the city wall eyeing the terrain for anything suspicious as runner-boys went from wall-sconce to wall-sconce lighting exterior torches and lanterns. The smell of cooked foods, the city and the sea beyond washed over the adventurers as the sound of music and people past the wall met them as well.

They nodded as the Lysorian caravan approached and one guardsman walked to meet the front drover. Words were exchanged then the guard waved the caravan through! The double-gate swung open with a metallic groan as the caravan's tired horses trotted from the fading outland grasses to the weathered cobblestone streetways of the city! The adventurers then saw the large crowds of people walking about Parsool's evening streets, many watching at the Lysorians entered - men, women, children, merchants, guardsmen and probably an untold combination of travelers exploring the seaside city. Some rather ragged looking folks ran up to the caravan waving and trying to touch the wagons - Khremel leaned out of the rearmost wagon's covering tarps and tossed gold coins out sending the urchins scrambling!

Street merchants hustled up to the passing wagons offering all manner of wares: clothing, jewelry, food, leashed animals - even attractive women stood and winked at the male adventurers -- it seemed Parsool had an infinite array of delights for those willing to indulge ...!

"This is going to be.. interesting" She had been to many cities in the past, and most were the same, this one was just somewhat more.. dramatic than the past few.

Parsool

The caravan slowly rolls through the city's main street the wagon wheels clicking in rhythm along the cobblestones. On either side the many shops and restaurants of the city are well-lit by lanterns and several crowds of people wander the street some gazing at the passing caravan. A few travelers who entered just before the Lysorians stop to chat with merchants and courtesans meeting them along the wide street. The adventurers had indeed gone from the wild desolation of the plains to a vibrant city that never slept --

Adhra:

Two well-dressed men approach the riding adventurer but seeing her close they pause eyes wide! They mumble to each other and walk alongside Adhra offering her golden necklaces and perfumes, "These are the finest in the land! Look! We draw from the best Lemurian traders! Smell this!"

Karim:

A basket-wielding young woman in robes walks besides the riding adventurer offering him fine-smelling biscuits, "You must be hungry from your travels. Please try these - the best buttered biscuits in all Parsool. I have berry jams as well ..."

Vahanna:

A tall robed older man walks up holding silken robes in both hands, "Dress like a noble for the lowest fees in Parsool! These silks will make you feel as divinity!"

Elkor:

Two attractive women stride up to the adventurer as he rides smiling, "Such a big strong warrior! Surely the road made you lonely -- my friend and I can provide the very best companionship on a night like this ..."

The past few days had been grueling. The caravan had ridden hard to cover the last few leagues to Parsool. Elkor was riding atop one of the bipedal lizards that the group had encountered just a few days prior. The barbarian still had a scowl on his face from that encounter.

Two days ago:

everyone had an unexpected but equally satisfying laugh when Elkor's attempt at 'breaking' one of the 'dragons' resulted in the Valgardian being bucked into the air and landing on the ground in a dusty heap! The barbarian glared at his companions, stood up quickly, wiped himself, and blew a stray piece of straw from his brow. He walked with determination toward the kroark that had thrown him to the ground. As Elkor came within arm's length of the beast, he punched it on the side of the head. The barbarian landed a devastating blow on the beast's jaw, knocking it to the ground and momentarily rendering it unconscious. He turned and then took some of the tack that was taken from the fallen horses and put it on the slumbering Kroark. The beast was a bit more sociable once it awoke, allowing the barbarian to mount and ride it as if they had been together for years.

The memory brought a smile to the Valgardian as he patted the beast on the head and rubbed it gently. Now that they had entered the city, Elkor was mesmerized by what he saw. Parsool was one of the most exotic cities he had been in. The worked wooden buildings of the city reminded the barbarian of home, but the smells were still new to him. The Valgardian rode up next to Karim, who was even now being assaulted by vendors selling their wares. "How does the wind ever get into this place? So many bodies cramped together reeks of dirt and sweat."

An old woman approached and offered Karim some biscuits. Even Elkor had to admit they smelled very good and was about to reach down and take a couple before two very attractive and scantily clad women strode up to him with smiles on their faces. He turned to Karim, "Where will you be staying? I think I will accompany these flowers to their home for the evening."

Karim accepted the morsels with relish. He found himself exchanging coin for more of the dainties faster than he might have if he wasn't road weary and bouncing upon an ill-tempered kroark. Soon, berry juice festooned his beard and face.

Mouth still full, Karim responded to Elkor with a shower of biscuit debris and wide eyes. "If they have enough room for more than one, I should enjoy their hospitality! Vahanna? Adhra? Will you be coming?"

OOC

Including the mention of Adhra here still until we know what to do with her character.
