About This Game

A continuation of the Legacy Academy from OGMW. The Legacy Academy opened a little over a year ago as a place where the Teen Titans could be properly educated without endangering their classmates. There was discussion about how so many resources were being poured into a school that was only educating four students, so it was decided that the school would be opened to any child with at least one costumed parent.

Detailed Description

The Legacy Academy opened a little over a year ago as a place where the Teen Titans could be properly educated without endangering their classmates. There was discussion about how so many resources were being poured into a school that was only educating four students, so it was decided that the school would be opened to any child with at least one costumed parent.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. oh mate, so sorry to hear that :(
  3. There is a LOT I don't like about the new site. I'd probably try somewhere else if I hadn't already been entrenched here now 4 years (nearly)... but the above... that drives me nuts.
  4. Im behind getting my stuff transferred. I wrecked my back last week so sitting at my laptop is problematic. Doing it on my phone is slow, clunky and difficult to figure out. I'll get to it soon as my back cooperates. #gettingoldsucks
  5. I agree that it feels different compared to the other site, and I know they have a BBcode button on the menu bar (it is the 4th to last, it looks like a black button with an x on it), but I haven't really played with it yet. No desire at the moment.
  6. Thanks There are other issues I dislike, but that should help with a thing. I’m in a VtM-Dark Ages game. I found a modern VtM sheet and have been trying to adapt it. The tables should work well for VtM Attributes but editing it has been just the worst. The cell sizes won’t hold. I’m spending 3/4s of my time in source code mode. Which is not helpful if you’re not really into coding
  7. Two things I recently just learned: [1] You can alter the number of rows and columns by holding down ctrl and right clicking mouse button to get to a menu to alter number of rows and columns. [2] You can alter the width of the columns with a little slider mouse icon when you move close to or are on top of a vertical line. So that is what I recently learned. Hope it helps out.
  8. Should be enough. Going to shut down before the internet drops completely.
  9. My internet is acting up. I want to grab more notes from the old site and organize things better. But for the moment, I am going to just nab some blank spots real quick to work with
  10. Ten Things Quickly With the caveat that I am in some ways still developing Syra's personality and some of these might change. 01) Loves flying more than almost anything else. Faster is better and she wants to get as fast as Bart. Cannot drive. Has a cache on the moon of objects she has found in space. She doesn't bring them to earth to avoid contamination. 02) Can Tap Dance. 03) Gives David a run on "changeable" style. More mood driven, might switch styles in the same day. Also might repeat styles within a day or two or even within a single day. Considered trying nudism and was told it was against school policy. 04) Has boundary issues. Gives hugs without warning, does not always respect or notice when she is infringing on personal space and since she can see through walls and hear conversations across a room, doesn't really grasp privacy. 05) Does not *need* to eat but food tastes good. Will go without if something more interesting is happening or when studying. 06) Is less emotionally developed than her peers and can be petulant or childish when unhappy. 07) Scoffs at how backwards earth science is, excels in maths and sciences. Less adept with social studies and psychology. 08) Can keep a secret if you stress it is supposed to be secret. If not told to be discreet, liable to tell strangers. 09) Prefers sweet to sour or salty. Doesn't like coffee. Would exclusively drink cherry soda if allowed. 10) Reads/consumes media without a filter. A day might find her watching Transformer Cartoons at breakfast, Faust at morning break, a video biography of Jim Henson during lunch, astrophysics calculations after school and BBC News before bed.
  11. In the Creche As Syra was kept in hybernation sleep, her body being subjected to the genetic manipulation and DNA reconstruction required to save her life, the computer programmed her with a normal life. Normal being a subjective term. With the destination firmly targeted, the computer scanned for cultural norms that suited what could be considered as close to Kryptonian values. So bascially, Syra grew up in . Not that it was black and white, but there was very little that happened, children obeyed their parents, and no one stayed up past ten pm. Now that she is out in the real world, having that last bit revealed right before she was dropped out of orbit, Syra is facing an explosion of color and energy she never imagined had existed. She loves it but it can still be overwhelming to her. I have always loved Supergirl as a character. When they killed her off in Crisis, I was sad but also it was really a great way to go out. She really did die a hero. And we all knew this dreck about only being one universe and one survivor of Krypton was not going to last. The idea of a medical satellite following Superman's baby escape pod to earth was one I thought of back in high school when they first brought Supergirl back as some sort of shapeshifter alien from an alternate dimension that was created by an alternate Lex Luthor as an attempt to trick Superman into coming to save his world. My first thought was, this is stupid, there is such a better way to bring her back and give her some depth. This is it. I am taking the name Power Girl for her, because Power Girl is an alternate reality version of Supergirl anyways, so I thought it was fitting. That, and she is more of a power blast type Paragon than a punchy fist type Paragon. I have adapted her to no longer be Kara, and I like the changes. Working her into the creation of Metallo gives him a better reason for having a kryptonite heart for one thing. He can be adapted and changed by the Hive if required. Also, as his kryptonite beams are artificially generated, they have a lessor effect on true kryptonians than Syra's energies. But as he is primarily a strength archetype, she will have trouble with him. Not sure what else to say here. I love the Supergirl mythology, I always thought I had a better way to bring her back than DC ever used, I like flying girls that blast things and are strong enough to pick up and throw a car, I like the idea that she can be used as a weapon against Superman and is hunted by his enemies solely so they can try and make her kill him. Even the 'good guys' should be studying her and keeping data in reserve in case they ever have to go up against Superman. John Corben was an industrial spy, loosely affiliated with Intergang, but unaware of their off-world connections. Embedded in an Antarctic facility co-sponsored by Wayne Industries and STAR Labs, he was in a fortunate position to take advantage of the arrival of Syra when she fell to earth. Closed off from outside contact due to the fierce winter storms, he had time to monitor and record her capabilities and project the potential power she represented. Intending to auction her off to the highest bidder, Corben overplayed his hand and when the storms lifted, the facility was set upon by multiple organizations, all seeking to capture Syra for themselves. Kaldur'ahm (aka Aqualad) was in the area, monitoring activity by The Exchange. Multiple armed forces converging upon the science outpost is the sort of thing which catches the attention. He contacted the JLA and was first to arrive at the scene. Syra was being quickly overpowered, and would have been captured had the factions not been fighting one another. He rescues her, and the two are quickly set upon by the combined forces when the factions realize their prize might get away. Just before the JLA arrives, John Corben is mortally wounded. Syra attempted to shield him, and prevent his death by freeing with low level bursts of her power. Her efforts are ruined when the battle sweeps over her and she is dragged away by agents of HIVE. For the second time, Aqualad rescues her, but she has lost track of Corben's body. In the aftermath, Corben's buddies from Intergang recover his body. Uniquely effected by direct exposure to kryptonite radiation, Intergang reveals their connection to Apokolips and remake him as an advanced cyborg. Created by alien science and powered by the largest single chunk of Kryptonite on earth, John Corben becomes Metallo, the Man with the Kryptonite Heart. The process left him somewhat unstable, and safeguards in his cybernetics have him partially programmed by Intergang and their masters from Apokolips. He blames Syra for this semi-enslavement, as well for yanno, getting him killed and turned into a monster. Syra feels sorry for Corben, and while he has no pity towards her, he isn't stupid. His masters wish to capture her, so despite his superior strength and physical capabilities, he can't kill her. Yet. They also share some mutual enemies, as in anyone who wants to harm Superman wants to capture Syra and/or take out Corben's heart. Three months after the Antarctic debacle, Corben tried to capture Syra for Intergang. He proved his cybernetics were far stronger than Syra, and almost succeeded. Expecting to finish her off with a blast from his kryptonite heart, he (and Syra) discovered that the radiation actually made her stronger. Her strength suddenly tripled and Syra began to clean his clock. Only the intervention of Intergang pulling him out allowed Corben to escape. He will not make that mistake a second time.
  12. Krypton turned toxic. In ages past, weapons of lethal radiation were buried and forgotten. They leaked, they altered the rocks at a subatomic level, creating a planet that was lethal to the life upon it. The cause of the Green Sickness was not known at first, and Krypton's best scientists worked on a cure. They failed of course, and one child was sent to earth to escape. In orbit around Kyrpton, a medical facility was hard at work. In the last weeks of the dying planet, the source of the illness was identified and fifty two dying children were sent to a research facility in hopes that at least some distance from the planet might make a difference in finding a cure. The researchers themselves fell victim to the plague, but their machines continued to seek a cure. As a single escape pod opened a wormhole in space to escape Kyrpton, the satellite's guidance computer took note, and followed before the imploding planet below could drag it down to destruction. Following it's mandate to try every avenue to save the children, it moved slower through space as it piggy backed a ride in the wake of the pod destined to land on Earth. Gene-therapy, radical cellular regeneration techniques, DNA re-sequencing, dozens of other promising lines of research were tried, and failed. One child survived. A long odds attempt at survival, instead of trying to eradicate the illness, she was altered so as to process the deadly radiation. The kryptonian body naturally assimilates wavelengths of stellar radiation and processes it to tremendous gifts. Kryptonite radiation kills by being absorbed but never leaving, like a higher density gas entering into the lungs of a human and displacing all the air, the kryptonite radiation smothers a kyrptonian in every cell. Syra's body was genetically altered to accept and process kryptonite radiation, and in fact she process all stellar radiation and converts it into kryptonite radiation. The process is much less efficient than Superman's body. She is much weaker, has less stamina and in many physical ways is inferior. But her ability to process and emit energies is far more advanced, she can surround herself with an energy aura, fire blasts of power from her hands as well as her eyes, and she is still far superior in strength and ability than a human. Syra's ship/research facility followed the Superman Escape Crib through the wormhole. Because it was effectively counting on riding the wake, it took many more years to reach earth. The facility had it's own defenses and security protocols. It had long before detected the target world and had been monitoring the communication signals from Earth. The sole surviving patient was taught the languages of Earth and imprinted with some of the cultural references. In order to limit contaminating the planet with too much advanced technology, the facility ejected Syra in an isolation pod and self destructed. Upon entering the Solar System, her vehicle is detected by the Sentient World Observation and Response Department, (SWORD) and intercepted. Ejected in low orbit, Syra awoke in a state of free fall, but not in a complete panic. The facility had extrapolated how her physiology would be capable of outputting the stellar/cosmic power it had been processing for decades. She knew she could fly, although knowledge of the ability and practical application were not in complete synchronicity. She managed to evade initial pursuit but Syra crash landed on the Antarctic ice shelf. She was found by researchers at a Wayne facility. Due to inclement weather of the oncoming winter, they were unable to report on their find immediately, and perhaps could have tried harder but decided to 'sit' on their find while the obvious alien girl found her bearings. Syra recovered from the shock of going from a sickly six year old girl on Kyrpton to a sixteen year old alien girl on earth who could fly and generate bolts of green power. One of the members of the facility was John Corben, a freelance industrial spy. Planning on leaving before the spring thaw, Syra was surprised when multiple organizations arrived before the last storm of the season. Corben had overplayed his hand, sending tantalizing bits of research from monitoring Syra's abilities in hopes of starting a bidding war, he instead touched off an actual war. He had contacted agents of Lex Corp, The Hive, The Council, OMAC Tech and other entities, all desiring to get their hands on a bioweapon capable of emitting kryptonite radiation. Fortunately, the JLA had also been tracking the illegal weapon auction, and arrived on scene in time to assist Syra in defeating the attackers. FALLOUT Several less than friendly organizations know of her existence and know Syra is a perfect kryptonian killing machine. Luthor Corp walked away with the largest amount of data from Corben's research, and is using it in their weapons development department. OMAC Technologies recovered the data tracking devices used to study Syra, and are more capable of tracking her movements as well as adapting it to search for other sources of kryptonite radiation. The Hive, however, came away with the main prize, John Corben himself, along with a prototype kyrpton radiation powered generator. During the assault on the facility, John Corben had been wounded. Syra had tried to shield him, but was only partially effective and a piece of shrapnel had been embedded in his heart. HIVE scientists found his body, nearly frozen to death but this partial suspension had saved his life. John Corben was reborn as a cyborg, his heart a kryptonite powered generator, his mind filled with thoughts of revenge. Syra had ruined everything, and she was going to pay. Metallo, the man with the kryptonite heart is forever her enemy. Working from the Premise that other Kryptonians might be at school, specifically the one NPC. Syra's radically changed structure does not 'leak' kyrptonite to the extent that she will kill them just by being in the same room. They probably shouldn't swap spit or anything, but co-existence is safe enough.

  15. Name: Syra Secret Identity: TBD Height: 160cm Weight: 55kg Dying Planet. Single Rocket with a Child Sent to Earth. Yadda, yadda, yadda. As if. Orbiting Krypton, a medical research facility applied radical gene-therapy on the 52 patients remaining to it's care as it monitored the death throes of a planet. Tracking the escaping rocket, calculating probabilities. Remaining in orbit was certain destruction. Using maneuvering jets, it followed the infant in the escape pod and hitch-hiked on the wormhole. It took longer to arrive, but arrive on earth it finally did. With only one survivor. Syra has missed a large amount of her childhood. The facility had limited ability to provide entertainment, so while it projected a 'matrix' style world for her to live and grow up in, the construct was rather boring. A small town on Krypton, with nothing exciting ever happening. She was taught about her home world and about earth, the target world, in a simulated school environment. She had companionship and experiences patterned after Earth social conventions but everyone was rather dull. Released onto earth, with the final data feed from her facility updating her on the truth, Syra is exhilarated to be alive. She is fascinated by Earth culture, embracing many aspects of it and discarding them as something new catches her attention. This is liable to eventually even out, but for the moment Syra is likely to be dressing like a punk rocker from the 80s one day and be fascinated with the music of 1600s chamber quartets the next. To her, everything is new. However, Syra is not stupid. She has already experienced the treacherous nature of some humans. She is smart, capable and very quick to learn from her mistakes. It would be unwise to mistake her naivete with stupidity. A kryptonian, only in planet of birth. Radical genetic therapy was applied to her, long on risk, short on success, she survived where all the other test subjects died. Like a kryptonian, she processes stellar energy to be used for a variety of powers. Weaker in physical form, but her ability to process and expend energy is exponentially stronger. And her energy wavelength is kryptonite. 1. Who is your costumed/meta parent and what is your current relationship with them? Syra was born on Krypton. She is not related to the House of El in any fashion other than her family line is also of the Scientist Caste. Being one of possibly three persons born on the planet gives them common ground but they are not actually family. Batman is another story. Batman has a history of 'launching' superheroes. Robin, in various incarnations, the Outsiders, how many others along the way? Batman might be a lone wolf, but he likes mentoring cubs. With that in mind; Batman by use of proxies and intermediaries has influenced Syra's choices and she might liken him to an uncle for whom she has a fondness. That might be the best way to illustrate the differences. Any other Kryptonian is like a person from her hometown. Batman is like that one uncle who actually remembers your birthday. 2. Do you have any intention on following your costumed/meta parent into "the business?" Yes. The "Leave it to Beaver" existence of her formative years would have put her on that path. Probably unsuccessfully because of the simplistic resolution of difficult problems, but the 'Truth, Justice and America Way" core programming would still be there. Batman's mentorship program, already mentioned, ensured Syra understood and accepted the responsibility of her situation. And the 'death' of John Corbin was an emotional crises which she still feels some guilt over. 3. Did you get along with others in your previous school? Yes. It was a very "Happy Days" sort of school in the program where everyone knew one another by name. Problems were of the "Gosh, how are we going to raise money for decorations for the dance" type variety. 4. What relationship, if any, do you have with law enforcement? Again, the dual influence of an "Andy Griffith" life and Batman manipulation instilled a tremendous respect for Law and Order. Syra does not have a personal relationship with any law enforcement agency or person, but she will do her best to work with them and respect their authority. 5. Are there any friends or family that you will miss while boarding at the Legacy Academy? Not really and of course. Waking up and discovering her parents have actually been dead since she was seven years old is kind of a shock. The Matrix could prepare her some, and cushioned the impact with how she was brought out of stasis but in a way that has only drawn out the psychic bruising. She really has not properly grieved. On the Gripping Hand, finding out that the world is more colorful and chaotic than her small town childhood is exciting and Syra is very much ready to see as much as she can. And it is probably going to overwhelm her. 6. Did you steal the test answers? Oh, no. Never. This long after school start, I figure everyone knows Syra could not do such a thing. No more need to be private.
  16. I liked the Old Site better for those. The OOC tags here are especially annoying and difficult to change. Tables are impossible. From what I have played around with so far, you can't alter the columns or rows. If you want to add a row, you have to recreate the entire table from scratch. OOC tags are re-writeable but it does require you getting into the source code set up and trying to find them in your post. All of the spoilers, tables and stuff here is far too easy to lose on a single misplaced backspace.
  17. The no-nonsense school doctor. She received her MD/PhD from Yale with a MD specialization in adolescent development and her PhD in Metahuman studies.
  18. It's still January in game, so Spring Break is a while away! However, I do have a field trip planned to somewhere exotic, so look for that to be coming up soon! And by soon, I mean, for your characters. I have a few threads planned in-between.
  19. Are we doing Spring Break anytime soon? Maybe a little trip somewhere exotic. I foresee great chaos in our future.
  20. Joanna eyes the headmistress with suspicion and fake shock, "I'm not jealous. It is a flee magnet, not to mention ringworm and other nasty animal diseases. I'm just being practical and cautious. This cat is dangerous." Joanna eyed her nemesis and thought to herself "I will destroy you." OoC:
