Whether it's his military training or his elven reflexes, he avoids taking any damage, the fire blazing behind him as a sly grin crosses his face. "Ah, an explosive welcome, but I'd expect no less from you! Why, I can't imagine facing you any other way. You always did have a knack for the unexpected, but it doesn't work so well against someone trained to expect the unexpected! You know, you're a sly one, always have been, and a slippery minx at that. Why, it feels like only yesterday, eh Vez?" Baldric has already said Voz's name correctly several times while they were planning their approach, so it seems unlikely for him to slip up now. But given his eccentricities, and how little they actually know about him, it's hard to say for certain what angle he's going for... or if he's speaking genuinely. "These fine folks are exemplars of their craft, so I wouldn't underestimate them. Solid, stalwart, steady... if I were you, whip-smart and a right firecracker, I'd just go along with them. All the while, electricity crackles through her body. "Sorry, I've never been in a fracas like this. Umm, sorry for the zaps, I'm sure that will stop soon." Once everything calms down, the energy suffusing Aquila fades. "Looks like the children have scattered, and all we've got left are a couple of Lamm's underlings." OOC & Actions Out of combat, Aquila will use Ocean's Balm to heal those mentioned above, as applicable. It's not much healing and can only be done once every 10 minutes on each person, so unless we want to spend a long time here, which seems unwise, someone should follow up with some additional medicine checks to treat wounds.

  4. 4E games are so very rare... It would be hard for me not to try and whip something up for this...
  5. Honestly, It's been a minute since I've played a full-on wizard type. Martial types can pick armor and weapons more easily, even if there's a lot to choose between. I don't really know what's available, let alone what would work well for me. I suppose I can go scroll shopping, but I don't know much besides that (and besides, there are still only limited level 1 illusionist spells I want or can cast from spell slots).

It's clear that despite his newly-adopted serious demeanor, Baldric has trouble passing up the opportunity for a ripe pun, although he offers it with no smirk or acknowledgement thereof. Was it accidental, then? While he has been brash and exuberant, the half-elf has otherwise snapped into a tightly-focused, supportive disposition. Without knowing him better, it's impossible to tell how long that will last, or if the earlier performance was just an act. N/A

He appreciates that they want to help, but not so much that they seem to have moved directly between him and his line of sight on the ranger. Moving north, he picks his firing line up again and reloads before taking his shot. The shield of runes fades from Ragna, but the dwarf feels confident he can coax the magic back up with a bit of effort. "We gotta fall back some, else we ain't gonna get over this bridge!" "Angradd, I know ya got my back, but now I gotta have their's!" Rezzik picks out Ragna in the crowd of allied townsfolk and see she's foregone her defenses to launch a full-on assault against one of the enemy soldiers. "Startin' with her. I know Ragna's folks won't be too keen on her comin' home on a stretcher... Forge-fire, lend her yer shield!" The situation is stressful, dire even, but he knows he needs to stand firm to help whoever he can to make it over the bridge safely. Berle's harsh last words ring in Rezzik's ears. 'Maybe I live, maybe I die, but I did my job and gave you your best chance. You better use it. ...and for more than this.' The dwarf feels the tell-tale signs of a hangover creeping in at the edges of his consciousness, though adrenaline is staving it off for now. He'd need fresh water before long, but that isn't important in the moment. If he doesn't hold the bridge, at least long enough for the stumbling, frightened figures approaching in the distance, trying to make their way past the hobgoblin soldiers and across the bridge to the relative safety of the Fangwood... If he can't, how could he ever live up to his word to Berle? Or, for that matter, to the young dwarf who left home all those years ago seeking adventure, hoping to save lives and make a difference? Through gritted teeth, Rezzik aims his gun, runic etchings glowing faintly with fire-light. He pulls the trigger, hoping to put down the archer. As the hobgoblin drops, the gunslinging dwarf loads another bullet and holds out the bag of 'souvenirs' yet again, stoking a personal antithesis against the creature as the flames of righteous wrath are fanned. "By Angradd, fer Phaendar, we'll put down every one 'a you sorry wastes of space!" Only he didn't call them 'wastes of space,' but something much less family-friendly. The point, nonetheless, is made. Action 1: Strikevs. wounded hobgoblin ranger/archer. Action 2: InteractReload gun. He breathes deep as he leans his head up, coughing out through pained gasps for air. "M-my thanks and most sincere gratitude, my lady." "That does it, you fur-covered monstrosity! My friends here, these fine men and women of different walks of life, have more verve and tenacity than you could dream of! Their strength, their power... Oh, the power! Like none you've seen. Why, I dare say these are the finest warriors upon which you've ever laid your eyes!" The half-elven commander stands, but he's clearly still shaky from the life-sapping spell's effects. "You, sir, are no gentleman! More a charlatan, a rake, a scallywag! Whatever the effective equivalent is in your homeland! And certainly no sporting warrior." With the first shot finding its mark, the dwarf aims his weapon and looks to take the foe down for good, if he can, before quickly reloading once again. "Talus, If y'all need cover, I got yer back. We got these hobs dead to rights, but they're jus' the first to arrive. I don't know if we got more folk headin' this way, but I don't think we can afford to hold off on blowin' the bridge too long."
