Adan Bright
There was once a man who lived a life of sin. Gluttony, debauchery, greed; there was no end to his debased pleasures. With sword and coin he took everything he wanted and killed those who tried to stop him, living as though he were King on this earth. But the Father our God looked upon this wretch, and seeing his great sin, He cast down His righteous judgment. From that day on, the man was cursed to bear the mark of his sins for everyone to see - as a leper.
The women he desired turned away in horror, the men he led as a tyrant stole what wealth they found clean among his treasures and abandoned him. His body and mind failed him, and soon he was cast into the darkest places of the earth, to live in squalor as befit his most ignoble self. He was cold and hungry in the wilderness, all alone save for the Father who looked on in contempt but never abandoned him.
He cursed the Father, scratching and tearing at the blight as his diseased skin became worse and worse. But no amount of hate could cure the disease that came from within, only the absolution of the Father would grant him that mercy. And so, in the most hopeless moments in the dead of night, he forgave the Father who cursed him, knowing that the punishment he received was well-deserved. He prayed that others might be turned away from sin before they followed him on his dark path. He lived a life free of sin as best he could manage, and consigned himself to an ignominious death and an unmarked grave.
But the Father saw the remorse in His wayward child and granted him the miracle of forgiveness.
The disease was cured almost instantaneously, returning the man to some semblance of good health. Crawling out of the wilderness, still grotesque from the scars the disease left behind, and with no qualifications beyond his good intentions, he began to preach the glory of God. Unfortunately, it seems, not all are ready to live a life free of sin, and his hopeful message was not received well by some of those in power in Kelmar. Taking a chance on a voyage across the seas, he hopes to lift the spirits of the sailors aboard and spread the word to those afar...
