Still, they seemed to have passed without incident. He stops near Barlo. "Remind me again how this ship sank?" If it had been a storm as he recalled that sank the ships, then any storm powerful enough to split a ship in half would've surely scattered any cargo to the four winds as well. He continues to observe the outline of the ship's ribs against the backdrop of the horizon.
