  1. TScorch Scorch stomped his feet when they found the witch, or what was left of her. That was the only was he knew to express his mixture of disbelief, frustration, anger, fear and sadness. She couldn’t leave yet, because if she left, then who would take care of them, her beloved familiars? Vaguely remembering the guidelines they’d been given, Scorch tried to think of a plan that made sense. The hare started pacing around and lighting the candles around the dead witch because that was all he was really good at and it made him feel like he had some control over this situation. “Yes, we must get the eyes. But how do we do that?”There was an undertone of desperation in his voice, but he tried his best to hide it while staying focused at lighting the candles.
  2. I think you’re allowed two more talents. c:
  3. Thanks for the invite. I’m still working on my characters background story a bit, but mechanically she should be ok already.

  5. Vanio Valgok - Dwarven Druid, Circle of the Mountain. AC 15 | HP 27/27 | Init +1 | Passive Perception 15 | Passive Insight 15 | Hit Dice 3d8 | Vanio had been watching everything that happened around him carefully. When he heard the children had been gone for two weeks, he feared for them. That was a long time to be gone already, yet he felt pretty confident that he and his new companions would be able to find them if they were at the Citadel. Yopine had offered her help, then Zorian had stepped forward to offer his and Vanio's too. The dwarf was fine with that and nodded in agreement. "I am willing to offer my services to you as well. If they are still around the ruins, we will find them. Could you describe what the children look like and do you know what the adventurers were looking for in particular?"
  6. Vanio Valgok - Dwarven Druid, Circle of the Mountain. AC 15 | HP 27/27 | Init +1 | Passive Perception 15 | Passive Insight 15 | Hit Dice 3d8 | Vanio gave Yopine a disarming smile. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to insult you." Then, he answers Zorian. "I can imagine. The winters can be harsh, especially as an adventurer." He takes a moment to look around the tavern and think. Pushes back his hair a bit, because it started falling across his face and bothering him. "So I think it's decided then. Would you both like to leave immediately? In that case, I will need a moment to grab some stuff."
  7. That is also a great tip, thank you. I will keep that in mind for when I want to start a game.
  8. Thanks for the answer. Maybe I’ll put an ad out for a one-shot stating I’m a starting DM.
  9. I want to learn to become a DM because there seems to be a high demand for them and also because it seems like a really fun role to have in a game, building a world etc. Is there any amount of experience I need to have in a game system before I am ready to start up a game? Do I need to play out a couple of games first or can I just start up a game and learn while playing as a DM?
  10. Vanio Valgok - Dwarven Druid, Circle of the Mountain. AC 15 | HP 27/27 | Init +1 | Passive Perception 15 | Passive Insight 15 | Hit Dice 3d8 | Vanio was amazed at how quick the other two were to put their trust in complete strangers. He took his time to take a good look at time while they were talking. The elf looked like a regular adventurer to him, the gnome stood out a bit. She looked like she hadn't even fully matured yet, but she talked like she knew what she was doing. Before he had had the time to respond, they had skipped over to introductions. It would be very impolite to not tell anything about himself now, so he did. "My name is Vanio Valgok. I'm a druid, but even more an archeologist. I have travelled here to investigate the Sunless Citadel, or what is left of it. Nice to meet you both." Now, having that out of the way he finally saw a chance to ask for more information, because the druid figured that it would be a good thing to know a thing or two before running off mindlessly into a possibly dangerous situation. He turned to Yopine first. "Thief hunting, you said? Aren't you a little young to be involved in that kind of action? Ah well, that's none of my business anyway and at least you have a plan. I know what way we have to travel to get to the ruins, but I have never been there before and have no idea of what state it is in. I was hoping to find out some information about that first by asking around a bit, but haven't had much luck with it. These goblins you mentioned, maybe they will have some useful information for us?" Then he turned to the half-elf. "Have you been to the ruins before? Do you reckon we can just run in? Are you also a thief-hunter?"
  11. Expressing interest, are you still taking applications? Are you taking players who are new to the system?
  12. Scorch, the pyromaniac hare. For as long as he could remember, Scorch had always lived with and served the witch. She had blessed him with a spell of fire, the greatest gift. Okay, maybe it wasn't much more than the ability to create a small flame, but it was certainly enough to light a candle and it made the hare proud. He had served the witch by helping out around the house by lighting candles or torches, burned the weeds in her garden and lit her cooking fires. He would also sit on her feet to warm them when they were cold. In his own head, however, he was destined for great things. Scorch is known for causing a lot of little accidents around the place while practicing his flame making. He has set things on fire before without meaning to. Sometimes, he made a flame somewhere just because he felt like it, because it made him feel powerful when the flame evolved into a real fire. The witch had scolded him many times for this, but he loved her nonetheless. Stats Clever 0 Fierce 0 Sly 2 Quick 3 DANGER 0
  13. Vanio Valgok - Dwarven Druid, Circle of the Mountain. AC 15 | HP 27/27 | Init +1 | Passive Perception 15 | Passive Insight 15 | Hit Dice 3d8 | When the two mentioned the ruins, Vanio was indeed very interested. Now aware of the fact that the two had probably noticed him listening in, it was best to talk to them. He had almost finished the big pile of food anyway. Maybe they could help eachother. He scraped his throat. "Excuse me, I heard you're headed to the ruins of the citadel. How would you feel about heading there together? I'm not really familiar with the area to be honest, but I also have some business to take care of around there."
  14. I don’t usually dress up for Halloween, it’s not so common around here, but if I would, I would choose to be a witch. A wicked one.
  15. Vanio Valgok - Dwarven Druid, Circle of the Mountain. AC 15 | HP 27/27 | Init +1 | Passive Perception 15 | Passive Insight 15 | Hit Dice 3d8 | Waking up from a good night's sleep at the Ol' Boar Inn, Vanio got out of the comfortable bed and started to stretch all of his muscles. That was really the only consistent part of his morning routine. He put on his clothes and took his quarterstaff, ready to go down for breakfast. His stomach was rumbling. He was the type of guy that was always hungry. Breakfast meant a lot to him and skipping it could have a big impact on his mood. Vanio had travelled to Oakhurst to explore the Sunless Citadel and was expected to report his findings back to the archeologists he worked for at home, in the mountains. All pieces or traces they could get of ancient dragon lore were very important for their research. The dwarf had arrived in Oakhurst a few days earlier, but hadn't gotten to his mission yet. Today, however, would be the perfect day for that. As Vanio headed downstairs and entered the room were the breakfast would be served, he passed by a paladin and a ranger. He ignored them at first, but couldn't help overhearing what the paladin told the gnome. He gets himself a plate loaded with food and sits down at a table nearby, trying to hear if he can pick up any interesting information about the site he is supposed to be investigate while eating slowly.

  17. I went with all the toolkits and studded leather. I'm happy with my character now the way he is and ready to start playing whenever you guys are. Thanks for the help!
  18. I think I finished my character. I still consider buying and/or selling some equipment, but still not really sure on what's allowed and what is not. If I understand it correctly, I have the starting gold from my background (25gp) now and can earn more later? I would like my character to start with all the toolkits he's proficient with (cartographer, mason, herbalist) but I'm not sure where I can find what their price is. And if I sell an item, can I also look up it's worth?
  19. I think my character is done now. If anyone spots any errors, let me know, I'm still a beginner at DnD.
  20. I am almost done with my character now, only need to add some details. I’m not sure about the starting equipment my character should have. I am sorry it took a while, I had a busy week. Usually I will at least be able to make two in-character posts a week, is that pace ok by you guys? Since we start at level 3 and I’ve never done that before, could anyone tell me if the starting equipment is the same as starting at first level? So the stuff that comes with class and background?
  21. If it's okay by all of you I'd still love to play, just had a very busy week. I will finish my character as soon as possible and won't have you wait another week.
  22. VANIO VALGOK ~ Basic Information Gender: Male Race: Hill Dwarf Alignment: True Neutral Class: Druid 3 (Circle of the Mountain) Background: Archeologist Passive Perception: 15 Passive Insight: 13 HP: 27 Hit Dice: 3d8 AC: 15 Initiative: +1 Size: Medium Speed: 25ft Appearance Vanio possesses a strong, sturdy build. His broad shoulders and muscular arms are the result of a life spent exploring rocky terrains and delving into the mysteries of the earth. His dark, somewhat messy hair falls back until just above the shoulder. In contrast, his beard is often nicely groomed. His dark eyes are always studying the world around him. He can't stop doing that, it's a thing he always did. When it comes to clothing, Vanio likes to keep it simple. He likes to wear simple leather armor or when it gets colder one of his pretty robes made of the hides of mountain creatures. He does wear gemstone jewellery, but doesn't see that as decoration, more as something that shows his heritage and he believes it holds a connection to the ancient magic of the mountains and therefore might also enhance his own magic. Personality Personality traits I'm a pack rat who never throws anything away. I'm happier in a dusty old tomb than I am in the centers of civilization. Ideals Danger: With every great discovery comes grave danger. The two walk hand in hand. Bonds I won't sell an art object or other treasure that has historical significance or is one of a kind. Flaws I can't sleep except in total darkness. Other personality traits: Vanio has an unbelievable determination and doesn't give up easily, no matter how challenging a situation might be. He is also a very patient, even for a dwarf. He can spend hours just looking at and studying his surroundings. The patterns in the rocks and the beauty of the mountains. He's a calm guy, very detail-oriented too. He doesn't mind waiting for the perfect moment to make his move. Despite his reserved nature, he has a strong, quiet confidence in his abilities and judgements. His strongest point, his extreme determination, can also be his biggest weakness. His obsession with history, rocks and geology can sometimes blind him to other important aspects of a situation, leading to a tunnel vision. Vanio is also a cautious person, he would never fling himself into a dangerous situation without having thought it all through. His cautious approach mat cause him to delay decision-making, even in moments where a quick response is required. In contrast to that, his risk-assesment is somewhat off when there is something interesting to explore. He might put himself in danger if there is a promise of an interesting historical or geological discovery of some kind. Bio Vanio grew up in a small settlement of dwarves centered around a mine that had been delivering precious gems and metals. From a young age, he had been expected to join the miners in the camp. Even though he had a strong back and a healthy body, he wasn't as strong or quick as the other laborers. What the other dwarves did notice, was his eye for detail and his above-average intelligence. So one day, they sent him to the camp's archeologists, who were there to inspect the artifacts that sometimes were found in and around the mining sites where the dwarves worked. He became their apprentice. He was a much better archeologist than he had been a miner. He liked to spend his free time on solo explorations of the mountains around the campsite, wandering abandoned trails and old mines and natural caves. He brought home treasures such as fossils, special gemstones and sometimes some traces of an old folk that lived there years before the settlement was there. One day, on one of these solo travels, he found a druidic focus in a very old tunnel, very deep under the mountain. He considered it a gift of the earth, maybe a sign too. From that day on he laid his focus on developing his druidic powers. He had a strong belief in the power of the earth and its ancient energies and learned to channel them. He could feel them run through his body sometimes, which was the most powerful feeling in the world to him.
