There are no windows on the outside wall of the compound, though some 2nd story windows can be seen on some of the buildings inside the compound. A couple of arrow slits can be seen above and to the sides of the stout, iron-banded, wooden gate. Amira nods for someone to go up and bang on the gate, announcing their presence. " he says, nodding, looking the party over. His gaze rests a bit longer on both Kelvan and Drezghl, though his friendly demeanor does not change. "Well, like ya said, it's getting late in the day. Ma's got something cooking, she always makes more'n we need, just in case some friends are passin' through. She'd tan my hide if I wasn't inviting ya'll to supper. She'll be tellin's ya that you can camp out in the barn loft, so if'n ya want to put yer mounts and packs in there, feel welcome, but then, come on in and we'll eat and talk about the sinkhole." He nods in the direction of the barn, then moves to re-enter the house. "I'm jus' gonna let Ma an Toman, that's me brother, know that we got guests for dinner." He smiles and nods again before heading back into the farmhouse.   3. Ozemur and Valthjofr have taken their turns. For PbP style, we're doing group initiative, but I will allow everyone to run through their entire turn individually instead of forcing everyone to move, then all missile attacks, then melee attacks and spells. Once were into melee, I will require declarations of spells and melee movement (retreats and fighting withdrawals) before initiative is rolled. so time for the rest of you to take your turns!
  4. Brave Ozemur rushes forward and flings his axe at these unliving foes but the spinning weapon flies wide and thuds into the floor beyond creatures. The eerie and raspy notes of Valthjofr's flute seem to be absorbed by the earthen walls of the tunnel, though the undead beings facing the group appear to be wary of it. OOC It is not clear what effect the bone whistle/ turning had had just yet. Once all the PCs have gone, then I'll run the NPCs and then the undead so you can see their reaction. Acted: Ozemur is about 5' from the undead. He is probably near his twentieth year. Though tall, he has to look up to Zurana a bit. This seems to catch him off guard and the easy smile that had been upon his face changes to something else. He stammers, "Um, uh, um, good day, strangers. I'm Milat Ranel," he says, making a slight bow. "What can I do for you?"   9. The group pushes onward, following the two figures. The mumbling Southlander follows with a little urging, though he does not seem to be paying attention to where he is or where he is going. The path once again descends a bit from the burial chamber and after a short distance, comes to a three way intersection. Straight ahead, it appears that the tunnel climbs up into yet another barrow mound. To the right, the tunnel seems to widen, though not like the burial mounds. Just at the edge of the torchlight, two figures can be seen standing. The appear to be dressed like Reavers, but that is where the similarity ends. They are facing away, but then turn and raise their hands above their heads. Blackened fingers end in sharp claws. Sickly yellow specks of light can be seen glowing from their sunken eye sockets. Stringy white hair falls from dead skulls. Their skin is thin and white and covered in strange tattoos and markings, similar to the body found nailed to the tree. These are clearly some sort of walking dead! The lifeless warriors open their mouths, yet no sound emerges as they advance! OOC Uhoh! it is time for battle! They are 25' away! Most of you have a move of 30' or more. If you advance quickly enough, they could be engaged in the wider part of the tunnel and more than two might be able to fight. The place looks abandoned from a distance, though thin wisps of smoke can be seen exiting the chimney. The fences are in poor condition, they look as if they could not hold if faces with something stronger than a mild breeze. The fields are overgrown with grass and weeds, obviously untended for some time. Getting a bit closer, the farmhouse itself, the barn, and the immediate premises around them all appear in good order. On the far side of the house, the garden looks newly planted. A few cows, some chickens, and a few goats wander about the barnyard. The sound of horses can be heard from the stables. Carrot snorts and the couple of horses with the group neigh and whinny in response. It seems the Ranels have just given up farming most of the land and instead farm for personal use only. Whatever the case, an afternoon breeze brings just a hint of an evening chill followed by the more welcome smells of fresh bread and tasty dinner being prepared in the farmhouse. And for those of you that still don't have Climbing, that defaults to DX-5... so with the bonus for the ledge, its a base DX roll.   13. ...and I'm back! though another slightly busy week again: concerts Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Daughter's play Thursday and Saturday evening. But I plan to hit at least one of my 4 pbp games each night before heading out.
  14. Yngvildr moves swiftly toward the other passage that leads out of the other side of the chamber and catches a glimpse of... something. As best as she can make out, two figures dressed in ragged clothing quickly moved out of sight as she approached. Meanwhile, the man looks around, wild-eyed rambling on in the tongue of the Southlanders as Ozemur prepares another torch before the other one finally goes out. As if on cue, the stranger's voice trails off, disappearing into the darkness. A new torch flares up in Ozemur's hand, casting flickering shadows across the burial chamber. OOC Another burial mound chamber. This one has an exit on the far side and someone is cowering where the purple dot is. Just the birds, the wind in the leaves, and the quietly flowing creek nearby can be heard. Drez and Zurana do their best to spot any watchers, but they just can't see anyone.
