Akaitora Posted November 25, 2023 Clone Share Posted November 25, 2023 Hi there! As the topic says, have been a member for quite some time, and I'm finally feeling ready to give PbP a serious try now that I have less time to play in person due to life. Been using the site for character sheets for a very long time; I think about 8-9 years, I think? And used it I have for very many systems, DnD 4th and 5th, PF 1E and 2E, various PbtA games, and a long (but perhaps not as long as others here) etcetera. I have some PbP experience, but mostly for systems light on the RP side of things. I've quite admired those beautiful posts people here to illustrate their characters upon applying to a game, and I have to say it is somewhat intimidating. If I may be so bold as to ask during my introduction, is there any guide on how to format your applications nicely for the GMs? In any case, thanks for reading! Looking forward to playing. Eagleheart Posted November 25, 2023 Clone Share Posted November 25, 2023 Don't tell anyone I said this, but you can just copy someone else's app format. That's what most of us do. :p That being said, welcome to the Weave!
Akaitora Posted November 25, 2023 Author Clone Share Posted November 25, 2023 That tip whispered by the winds..or maybe it was some eagle flowing overhead, was magical. I've put together my first application. Thanks undisclosed informant!

Welcome to the Weave, Akaitora. Many of us were introduced to MW thru the character sheets, so you're not the first nor will be the last who opts to make the jump. And yeah - feel free to copy an existing template and modify. I personally use a very basic one that has served me quite well for years now. Otherwise, my biggest tip is "Keep it Simple and Stupid" - the more you fiddle with the nitty gritty details, the more fickle it gets. Anyhow, in case you haven't seen it yet, here's a link to our Myth-Weavers v6 User Guide, which contains several handy links that you will likely find useful. We do things a touch differently than some other sites, where we have game ads posted and prospective players apply. You'll want to swing over by our Game Ads section to check that out! Every GM does it a little differently, so check the campaign info and forum for the exact details. We support a very wide variety of systems here, ranging from good ol D&D (of all editions) to Pathfinder to Shadowrun to Fate to PbtA to OSR to, well, I don't think there's a system we don't support or have players for. So if you spot something outside of your norm that catches your attention - go ahead and apply for it anyways. There is much to be gained by going outside of the box, after all. Also, I recommend getting chatty through out the forums or even dropping by our Discord Channel, especially if you have questions. Just watch out for those welcoming harpoons - they're harmless... mostly 😂 If you have any questions, let us know! Don't be afraid to ask, either - we do our best to help people out. -Yamazaki
