It’s a typical day in New York City lines of traffic are going through the streets. The buseling crowds on there way to various locations immersed in being in a hurry. The camera moves into a more rugged nighborhood some buildings are boarded up. Businesses keep a sharp eye on the streets for thieves. Hope lingers in the quiet of church bells and students studying for the upcoming midterms.

This is Hell’s Kitchen the silence is shattered as smoke can be seen from miles through the city skyline. Emergency alarms go off and communicators are checked as various heroes arrive at the scene.

Where the smoke clears there is a group of obvious hydra agents being directed by a woman in a bright bronze mask. The agents were running around trying to build a portal device that would be crackling with energy about to be released.

How do you arrive? What do you do?

Ava was shopping for her family on 52nd Street. There was a place that they liked that got fresh produce every day. As Ava exited the shop she saw the Hydra Agents. "Aye Caramba, Hydra!" Ava said out loud. White Tiger time. "Sorry family the groceries are going to have to wait."

White Tiger sneaks over to the Agents and the Bronze Mask Lady to see if she can figure out what they are doing.

Backstory

An only child, Alex grew up alone. At school, he never fit in with any groups, and in fact was mostly used to make others feel better. He watched reruns of old tv shows, mostly from the seventies. There, he discovered the wondrous world of wuxia. As such, he studied martial arts from a young age.

Puberty brought with it more complications, he was a mutant with phasing powers, mostly increased density so far. While it helped hide him from bullies and other kids, it has never been reliable; sometimes causing more issues for the troubled youth.

As he grew through adolescence, his martial arts training boosted his confidence and gave him an outlet for his suppressed emotions. He devised a costume with inspiration from old pulp literature and tv. He works as an assistant in a branch of the local public library, listening in particular to the street regulars that take shelter in its walls; they prove to be a good source of information. He spends his free time on the streets, fighting thugs and muggers for the most part.

 

reserved, studious, curious, gregarious but not outgoing - that is, he likes to be in large groups but participates little, conversation wise. He has trouble acclimatizing to social situations. He is more of an observer.

 

Lawrence Alexander was almost finished with his shift at Seward Park branch library when he overhears an alert on a patron's phone. He quickly signs out, grabs his backpack and runs out the door to the subway station to get to Manhattan's west side. A short trip later, he disembarks and locates a small nook where he changes into his vigilante gear. Hardcase emerges from the station and pauses momentarily as he stares at the garish green and yellow outfits of the Hydra minions scurrying about. He sees their leader, but has to fight his way through them to get to her.

Kate was glad to leave her apartment. That hero sandwich had given Lucky gas. Nearing the block, Kate lept up on one of the fire escapes and climbed to the roof. Looking down at the machine, her first thought was "not in my city" Knocking and arrow, she let's one fly at what looks to be a good weak spot in the machine.

Daniel was looking over a run down building as part of an assessment for the Hawthorne foundation. A pair of young restauranteurs were looking to help revitalize part of Hell’s Kitchen with a new eatery and had applied to the foundation for some financial backing. While following the building inspector working their way around the second floor Daniel spotted the smoke out of a window. He quickly feigned an urgent phone call and made his excuses to leave.

 

he changed into his dark blue and black costume in an adjacent empty building before rushing to the scene. Upon spotting the hydra agents and their leader from down the street as he arrives, Indigo shouts out, “Hold it right there!”

He then reaches out a hand and projects a dark blue force dome (Elemental Prison) over the hydra agents and their leader attempting to trap as many as possible while keeping them away from their portal device.


Ego Check: (2,2,5) = 9

 

Unfortunately, in his haste, Indigo centers the force bubble too high and completely misses all of the Hydra agents, their leader and the portal.

Initiative - 10

The Painter kfams onto the scene, evidently a little shocked at the sheer chaos of this. She'd worked out something was happening when she spotted people running away. Hydra agents? Right here in Hell's Kitchen?

This is big. This is proper hero business. But... she's right here. And the portal's going up. There's a few folk showing up, trying to help, but no one she knows. The young hero shudders, obviously nervous, but a few breaths are enough to steady her nerves.

She can do this. She's a hero now. She can help take them down.

Her next kfam takes her right next to the bronze masked Hydra agent. The strange girl gives her adversary a little wave. "Hi! Welcome to New York." She'd been trying to think of some kind of clever quip, but she sounds completely genuine. Sarcasm clearly doesn't come naturally to this hero.

Great fight banter, Vic. Almost apologetically, the strange artist steps back, entering a fighting stance. Time to see if she's up to doing this for real.

The Painter isn't going to let the surprise of her arrival go to waste. She strikes first, running right at the masked figure. It's a pretty clumsy punch, "You better watch out!" The masked woman has plenty of time to block as Vic swings with a clumsy roundhouse...

Only for the strange combatant to vanish in a flash of light. Before the agent can even turn, Vic is lunging at her back, this time going significantly faster. She may not be a trained fighter, but she's got one overwhelming advantage and she's gonna use it!

madame mask hisses and falls back from the painters punch taking 6 X2 +2 23 damage 37/60 hp left

 

As the heroes arrive one of the Hydra agents rushes over to the portal and activates it making it glow an ominous red. A man with blond hair and a familiar red blue and white costume runs out into the crowd bleeding heavily from fatal looking wounds. He is instantly recognizable as Captain América without his shield barely alive and not for long. "The Crimson Surfer surfer is coming! You have to stop him from coming through!" immediately collapsing to the ground.

With one glance its apparent the hydra agents are trying to stabilize the portal so that something or someone can come through from regions unknown.

Everyone had surprise this round so roll initiative and then go in any order with an edge @mykesfree you can also take an action before rolling initiative too

As the machine sparks and explodes from Hardcase phasing through it and Hawkeye's arrows piercing the equipment, White Tiger realizes where she's seen a similar portal before. It was the Battle of New York when the Avengers were first formed  when the Chitauri were trying to invade. She also realizes that the latest news mentioned Steve Rogers's retirement as Captain America what was he doing here?

The machine exploded just in time as a red skull like face and a figure standing on a red surfboard like device would be briefly seen trying to get through before retreating with a disgusted howl of rage. Madame Masque let out her own frustrated yell "Kill them ALL!" as she would try to run back bullets flying one deliberately aimed at the collapsed Captain.

Seeing Captain America drop, Indigo rushed across the field of combat to be at his side and projects a field of dark blue force to protect the Captain. His protective sphere expands outward pushing enemies away while keeping allies close. Hoping that on of the heroes can help the Captain.
