Backstory

Chit'Thal, better known as Fixit, hailed from the arid, insectoid society of the Kharr'tul. Life among the clicking, chitinous masses was rigid and duty-bound, leaving little room for Chit'Thal's inquisitive nature. From a young age, he found solace in tinkering, taking apart scavenged machinery and rebuilding it into wondrous contraptions that hummed with life. His knack for invention earned him recognition, but it also sowed seeds of dissatisfaction with the Kharr'tul's strict traditions.

One scorching summer day, whispers of a fantastical carnival reached Chit'Thal's ears. Tales of impossible feats, dazzling illusions, and creatures from beyond sparked a yearning for adventure he couldn't ignore. Driven by the promise of the unknown and the hope of finding a place where his tinkering was celebrated, Chit'Thal snuck out of his home on the eve of the carnival's arrival. The next morning as the carnival opened he slipped past the guards evading detection. Inside the swirling chaos of lights and laughter, he was mesmerized. But his wide-eyed wonder soon led to a fateful encounter that he does not well remember. Something was taken from him, but he is not sure what. He went searching for that which was lost and eventually met with the carnival's enigmatic owners, Mister Witch and Mister Light. They were trying to fix one of the rides when he approached. He quickly pointed out the problem and helped them fix it. Unable to help retrieve his lost item they were none-the-less impressed by his ingenuity, they offered him a choice: return to his rigid life or stay and become part of their magical world, fixing the marvels that brought joy to so many. Chit'Thal, his heart pounding with excitement, chose the latter. He became known as Fixit, the Thri-Kreen who could mend anything, his loyalty and skills forever intertwined with the fantastical world that had given him freedom and purpose. The secret he lost on that fateful night remained hidden, a reminder of the past he had left behind, but the carnival was now his home, and he would fix, tinker, and invent, ensuring its magic never faded.

Pernan Thistlespark, a wisp of a young halfling with eyes like polished amber and a mane of fiery red curls, has recently become Fixit's unlikely shadow. Drawn to his hum of work and the sparks that danced from his tools, Pernan saw not just a fixer, but an inventor conjuring wonders from metal and wood. Fixit's unwavering focus and quiet confidence were a beacon to the impulsive halfling, who yearned to learn not just the secrets of machines, but the discipline and dedication that fueled them. Pernan peppered Fixit with questions, his rapid-fire chatter a stark contrast to the Thri-Kreen's methodical work, but Fixit found himself smiling, enjoying the infectious enthusiasm and seeing a spark of his own youthful curiosity reflected in Pernan's bright eyes.
