  Character Background:

T'Sarra Khonnor grew up in a Kellid tribe in Numeria. A Tiefling girl was not exactly the good omen an Aasimar might have been, but as she grew she was known for her quick wit and her kind heart. She was accepted by the tribe, even if some tongues always wagged behind her back.

She grew up into a strong, hard-working, charming, passionate... and incredibly clumsy woman. Her awkwardness was legendary, two left feet, all thumbs, just no manual dexterity or agility in her hands at all! She lost track of the number of times she'd fallen into the fire, saved by her Tiefling skin. She was not physically competent enough to be a warrior, she was determined to find her place within her community.

As a result, T'Sarra became apprenticed to the tribe's shaman, learning the ways of magic and healing. She was a diligent student, soaking up knowledge and practicing her skills whenever she could.

Despite her clumsiness, T'Sarra proved to be a natural at divination, and she quickly gained the respect and admiration of her tribe. She became an invaluable member of the community, using her powers to heal the sick and injured, and to protect her people from harm.

But all of that changed when the visions came. She was stricken, cursed with a vision of the future, and further with the curse that no one would believe her! Ultimately she drew attention beyond the limits of her tribe. Technic League sent a robot to kill her. T'Sarra was forced to flee for her life, leaving behind the only home she had ever known. Though she was terrified and alone, she knew that she had to keep moving forward, using her skills and her determination to survive and find a new life.

In Torch, she met Khonnir Baine, who immediately commented on her first name matching his surname. Khonnir was a patron and took her in when she had no one and T'Sarra trusted him to keep her safe. In return, she agreed to take on missions into the wilderness for him, using her skills and wits to navigate the dangers of the wild. And to fight off the robots. Androids were one thing, they had souls she could see she could trust them. But the machine-men of the Technic League or worse the ones who wandered the land? Those she hunted and killed before they could attack her. She never knew which were programmed for her destruction. Despite the constant threat of the Technic League's robots, T'Sarra remained determined and resilient. Until Khonnir himself went missing...

Story-wise:

I'm enjoying the fact that T'sarra might be something of a hired guard/bounty hunter for Khonnir, though is this something we'll have to keep from Val, at least in the beginning?  Would T'sarra happen to be on one of these hunts at campaign start, or perhaps guarding the party during their water sampling trip?

Please note as well, that we are starting this game prior to Khonnir's disappearance.  A matter of ignoring the last sentence, is all.

Basically Khonnir is a wanted man, hiding out from the Technic League. He rescued Val as a little girl from being the subject of an experiment, that was the cause of his escape from them. Val doesn’t know, wouldn’t remember she was too young. He’s always told her they settled down from living a nomadic life along the Sellen River.

So I would say anything involving overtly repelling/resisting the Technic League might be something we’d want to keep from Val probably yeah.

Does Val normally involve herself in questioning all of Khonnir's contractors?  Khonnir is already keeping some secrets, and I am sure by this time he has a handle on how to keep Val from becoming curious about things he doesn't want to discuss.  Just as it is likely Val knows there are some things Pop doesn't want to talk about and Technic League Politics is one of them.  Not so much keeping it a secret as it is "We don't discuss Politics, Religion or the Technic League at the dinner table" sort of thing.

Khonnir does regularly delve into hazardous places without it having to specifically name the League as one.  Hiring some muscle to come along on an exploratory visit is not that far out of the ordinary.

Mechanics-wise:

  • I see here you've chosen Robot Slayer as campaign trait.  On your sheet there's Fate's Favored, not sure where that's from?
  • Max d8 + 2 (Con mod) + 1 (FCB) should be 11.  You've marked 10HP on your sheet
  • Curse: Not an error or omission, more of a reminder — in absense of surprise round, T'sarra is staggered the entirety of first round.

    • Faith I think... I forgot to add robot slayer, fixed that and took the drawback 'overprotective' for another trait. Regardless, I was only going to take Fate's favored with extra traits feat at level 3 or 5, so removed it to reduce confusion! My traits are resilient, irrepressible, robot slayer (campaign) with drawback overprotective

    • Fixed, thanks!

    • I will remember believe me it's super painful! Just didn't want to write it out in gory detail

No, she doesn't... but Khonnir has learned that because of his careful, secretive ways, Val grew up applying her natural gift of observation and deduction to seeing through people who were trying to be false.  So Khonnir had no problem with Val keeping her eye on newcomers and strangers, but anyone whom he confided with, he would just tell Val that they were okay, and she'd stop trying to read them.  Khonnir never figured out that she first learned to read people from all the lies he told her... and it's something that she never called him on, because dad knows best.  At least, until balked at finding her lost sister, but even then she figured out that whomever he was hiding from was THAT bad.
