HP: 35/35   Saves: Str: -1, Dex: +2, Con: +5, Int: +1, Wis: +5, Cha: +7  AC: 17, Initiative: 2, Speed: 30

Ahmonet watches Ptala wearily, making a mental note if anything goes missing, she might be the first to inquire. It wasn't uncommon for groups sent by the king to commandeer supplies and equipment, but in this instance she began to consider the benefits of taking the items and using them for the greater good. She reached down to pat the wand at her side, in case it became a choice of returning the items, should they not afford the price.

Zosar divine warrior of Re-Horakhty

Zosar.pngHuman Paladin AC 18, gold plate armor +1 HP 30 / 30 | init +0  divine senses | cond: normal

Zosar eyed the new weapons the minion of Annubis had picked up. Khu had an eye for foreign weapons it seemed which was an interesting development. Zosar was going to ask Omari where the halberd he had found came from... however.

It felt like a blessing from Re-Horakthy in response to all the weirdness going on, and a gift from the Gods. That was all the info that the divine warrior needed.

...

Stepping out into the warm rays of the sun, sunlight glinted off Zosar's polished gold armor, helmet and halberd as he stood for a moment in an open space outside.

He began to twirl the weapon getting a measure of it's weight and heft before beginning to move in response to a mock battle with imaginary foes surrounding him. Lightning fast strikes ensued with Zosar using all parts of the blessed halberd including the blade, the spear tip and the wooden shaft in a relentless attack to vanquish his enemies.

*SLASHAttack action*... *JABExtra attack*... *SWEEPbonus action : blunt end of shaft
- opposed trip manuever
*... *JABReaction attack*...

If the Gods were watching Zosar wanted to put on a good show and it was in short time before all his imaginary enemies on the battlefield around him were vanquished. Breathing heavily beneath his helmet Zosar saluted the Sun God and proclaimed his victory silently to Re-Horakthy and stood a moment basking in the sun's radiance.

It felt like a good day...

Omari glanced at Ptala's request and replied "sorry no, we do not. These items only came to light when we had to fight the owners, someone might know where gems can be found but I do not" he said.

Ahmonet noticed a female with a bottle of wine and two glasses, the human woman was only about twenty and was quite pretty "fancy a drink your majesty"? Her face bore a wry smile and she looked like she wanted a "private" audience with the wayward princess, it was approaching midday so it was not too early for a drink.

The Anubite made his excuses and bid his friend Omari a good day before exiting the building deciding to take a walk through the town. It was a rare moment to be able to enjoy the feeling of the sun and the air without being on high alert for attack. Of course the assassin never truly relaxed, but he allowed his senses to open widely, listing for whispers on the winds from the community, both living and dead. The spirits often had as much to say as the fleshed if you just paid attention.

However it was no spirit that caught Khu's eye, but a fellow Anubite like him. Khu approached a little closer sensing some familiarity, but he had a moment of shock when he realised just who it was. "Ahkmed? My brother?" Khu couldn't believe it, but there, in a guard's uniform, stood his second oldest brother. "I did not know you were on the island - I am very glad you are safe!"

Ahkmed looked at the Anubite and dropped his weapon, he hugged Khu and Khu could feel the tears dripping onto his back "Khu, is it really you? Oh how I have prayed for your safety, tell me all about you, and do not skimp". Ahkmed picked up his weapon and called out to his sergeant who understood and told him to be back in an hour, the two brothers went into the main building and sat down to talk.

Aura thanks Omari for his help, in this sense she also commends the efforts of the survivors.
Regardless, these are times of need and I appreciate the faith you have in our party but most importantly, in those that have gathered here.

This might be a humble way of thanking you, but I have this proposal: I could prepare the food for you and the children during our stay; I'm the owner of the "Qatayef" at mainland, and maybe a change of taste relieves your people. I need no special ingredients or tools and I'll keep in mind your current situation (i.e., she won't spend anything beyond planned). Actually, I may be able to fetch some provisions if needed (e.g., in case the food storage was guarded by zombies). I could also make sweets (Qatayef), which might bring some smiles to children.

You've probably told the story many times already, but can you recount the happenings since this mess started? On the other hand, could you confirm if water and mosquitoes/flies can spread the infection? And if water is contaminated, can you purify it using mundane ways (e.g., boiling it)?

The warlock believes she might be capable of finding new clues in regards of the "invaders".

At another time…

Aura also takes note of the doings of Ptala and Ahmonet, but when she glances notices Khu “playing” with the crossbows, she’s very curious as to ask: How are these better than the blades you wield?

And when Zosar puts his show, Aura is watching; she takes note of his moves.
Spending job warrior! Were all the targets eliminated?

During downtime, Aura decides to walk the city and learn more about the people, its defenses and escape routes

Zosar divine warrior of Re-Horakhty

Zosar.pngHuman Paladin AC 18, gold plate armor +1 HP 30 / 30 | init +0  divine senses | cond: normal

Zosar glanced around and noticed there were a few people watching him, and a zombie who just happened to be tall enough to see over a distant fence. His gold armor glinting in the sun tended to attract attention much like moths to the light.

There was that elf girl again... what WAS her name ?!?

Zosar smiled in response to Au'ra, she appeared to be friendly... which could not be said for all the woman who crossed his path... some were righteously angry after Zosar had stood them up, or had to leave suddenly for temple duties.

Zosar looked around again, shielding his yellow eyes from the sun. The zombie was still staring at him, there was a little kid who had just pulled up on his toy chariot... Zosar struck his best heroic pose and took in the sun some more, with golden rays glinting off his armor. He was getting thirsty.

Au'ra, the elf girl spoke to him and Zosar took the opportunity to walk over to her...

"... hi there, my name is Zosar... you are kinda cute..." he replied by way of acknowledgement. It was the first conversation they had had, and Zosar was full of compliments.

Ptala narrowed her eyes at the mayor, then shrugged. He wasn't the sort to not supply things that could help, he'd just given them all items of power after all, but her mind reeled through all the things she could probably do with gems and other precious metals and minerals.

Mounting Khep, she began making some adjustments, then having him move his mandibles to ensure the greatest amount of power without sacrificing mobility.

She gave a chuckle at Aura's questions and quips, perhaps she was just eager to talk about something or bond with others, how could she not see the value in keeping a good distance from the shambler mobs. As the cookie elf chirped at Zosar, Ptala could not help but join in "I think you may have missed the one above you Zos."

There didn't seem to be a lot more good to do here and since their last excursion was made redundant by these king's men and women, they still had plenty of capacity. "So since this place is secure, fully secure: walls, weapons, people trained to use those weapons, secure entry protocol and clear leadership, but it has limited supplies. While your reports say Memnet is fully lost, nothing alive at all, and no attainable supplies, no value in going there... then we should check on the interior, next would be Tjet Adul Hassan. When do we leave?"

Aura walks towards Zosar and replies with an air of friendliness:

As-Salaam-Alaikum~
(Peace be with you)

Well, you’re rather shiny. Her eyes are barely open, she looks somewhat dazzled by the reflection of the sun.

Why don’t we take a bit of shade? And as she moves, she says:

I remember you, from that day at the Qatayef.
I’m the owner, Aura; we helped you get over your intoxication.

Zosar divine warrior of Re-Horakhty

Zosar.pngHuman Paladin AC 18, gold plate armor +1 HP 30 / 30 | init +0  divine senses | cond: normal

Zosar blinked, he hardly ever got intoxicated... infact he could narrow down the instances to the long weekends he had off from temple guard duties. There used to be so much to do on those balmy weekends. Zosar smiles as Au'ra reminds him of their encounter at Qatayef.

"... ah thankyou Au'Ra, was that the festival of Isis...?" Zosar asked Au'Ra as he ventured into the shade, he had consumed some foreign ambrosia and the festival was still a blur. Needless to say Zosar was looking forward to the next festival and needed to find a white toga for the event.

Lost in happy thoughts for a moment, his happy memories were brought back to the stark reality of the present as Ptala mentioned Memnet...

'...fully lost...nothing alive at all...' That was a shock, Zosar had planned to go there and check the status of the seaside town.

"What happened at Memnet ?..." the revelation from Ptala gave the Paladin pause. Perhaps this was the key to the mystery of all the undead weirdness and horror going on.

Ahmonet is led to a small room with a "boiler", a small fire kept a supply of hot water. The woman drags out a large wooden tub, releasing the pressure from the top of the boiler she fills the tub as Ahmonet strips off. Once full the girl pours some wine for them, strips off and gets into the tub. .........

And that is all that is going to be said on the matter, lol.

Zosar sits under the strange tree that was growing out of a grave, the large tree seemed to give off a peaceful aura and Zosar immediately felt warm and wanted. Au'Ra also felt this comforting feeling. The two talked for a little while and then seemed to fall asleep, they woke up after a few minutes with no idea that they had been asleep. All their wounds had healed over and all afflictions had been cured, the tree was an odd shape but this effect had helped many a soul that sat under its branches. Even Penny Wright who had no basic capabilities, not only had she got and walked, but she also began to speak. This story was well known but no one had believed it, until now.

Q9NZMlm.pngKhu, Usherer of Souls - Sheet
checked-shield.svgAC: 17 | sprint.svg Initiative: +4 | health-normal.svg HP: 38/38 | awareness.svg PP: 15

Khu spent the afternoon reminiscing and talking with his brother. Akhmed introduced Khu to his wives and children, which brought a warmth to Khu's heart that he had not felt in many months. The happiness was short lived however as Akhmed explained how their mother had died of heart break two years after giving Khu up to the priesthood as tradition had demanded. The news only got worse from there, as his brother described how their father had travelled to the island to visit Akhmed and his family but was beset by shamblers. "I had to kill him myself..." said Akhmed as he wept at the memory.

"Have you heard of our other brothers? What of our family's home on the island at Tjet Abul Hassan?"

Akhmed shook his head, "I have no news of the rest of our kin. I was lucky to get my own young family to safety when the infection started spreading." He looked out with affection at the children playing in the sunlit courtyard, watched over by his wives - one singing a traditional children's song while the other prepared fruit for the evening meal.

"By all accounts, the house is full of the undead. But... you and your friends look capable. If you can make it there, the family fortune is still there. I value your life over wealth my brother, but we have lost everything. If you can make it there... It may help." Khu nodded with understanding, pensive at the prospect. The rest of the evening was spent in bittersweet enjoyment of the company of family, while the spectre of those missing from the table loomed over the humble meal. In the morning, Khu bid farewell to the family, pressing a gold piece into the palm of each of the three children. He laughed at their shock and glee and told them to spend it on toys and sweets. Ten more pieces he handed to Akhmed, and with a firm hug he wished his brother farewell before turning to find his companions.
