Hello people, I have quite some ideas for characters here, I'll copy my files hereunder so you can see who they are, what they can do, and if you like them... the first is just finished today, I hope to have made more by the deadline.

 

@Sensibleshoes Note, none of these characters come with equipment. I guess we'll have to discuss reskinning some more or less appropriate skills before even talking about what they know how to use and what they lug around. Of course, if you like Svartalf better than the rest, the equipment section will be mostly moot.

@Sensibleshoes I had more ideas, but I've decided that this will be enough candidates, maybe you want to take a look to tell me if any is particularly good to your eyes, or on the other hand will never be accepted... I'll be working on equipment but am not in a hurry, especially since I think there'll be discussion about that to put the equipment in better accordance with the game... samely, some skills may have to be renamed/reskinned.

You're imagining this is going to be a lot more strict than it is -- if you finish a character you can play (unless double the number of people start making characters -- we're at a place right now were everyone who's currently making a character adds up to a number that everyone can play). I'm also not going to forbid any specific character unless you're not following the game rules. Quite the opposite -- I'm really impressed so far by the creativity you and everyone else is showing with some of these character concepts -- I'm looking forward to seeing how they work in the game.

I'll probably use some of the character ideas you don't end up using as NPCs with your permission. I already had an idea percolating for an encounter using an NPC very similar to the rabbit.

@Sensibleshoes maybe I'm expecting stricter control than you intend to exert, but since i'm not really in the proper mindset (I don't know where I go) for this game, I'd rather have some guidance... ATM I'm mostly hesitating between Svartalf the Psi Cat (yeah, if he has the same name as my nick, you can guess I like him a lot), Logan the doctor, and Jimmy the prospector... and I wonder if they are all fitting in your setting, or whether something else (changes to make or something altogether different to create) would be better. After all, this is a collaborative game, and I want to adapt to you as you will have to adapt to my character.

In that case I'd suggest you play the Wolverine -- there will be a lot of lore/background material to be learned to where it will be helpful to have a 'skill monkey' kind of character that can consistently make checks to identify objects, peoples, events, places. Having healing from the medic side of the build will also be very useful for combat encounters and extended wilderness expeditions in the Pine Barrens where there won't be ready access to a hospital.

Do we want to kind of coordinate a bit? I've got 2 ideas right now 1) a badger with a tremendous amount of mechanical/electrical/smithing etc type skills and a hovertank that will have to be very heavily refluffed to get away from MDC and space age stuff - basically picked the OCC/MOS stuff so he would be conceivable as the inventor and maintainer of the hovertank thing or 2) a Psi Frog (I managed to roll a 30 on ME so I had to. I just had to) low skill though, so more of a wilderness scout type.

The thing about either Psi character is they can bring a lot of healing to the group, and could be a bit redundant with the Dr.

@Inash If I took the psi cat, he'd also have healing powers... the difference between a psi healer and a doc is that the former works a lot faster, and that the latter needs a lot of paraphernalia, so I don't see any redundance

 

But if you want to play the badger, be ready to have an aggressive guy demand to look all over your hovertank out of sheer scientific curiosity ;)
