About This Game

Someone once said "If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." People look at the world and see crime. They see poverty. They see ignorance. They see pollution. Mostly they see pain and fear. So some people try to make it right. People with wealth, fame and power. They champion a new, better world. The problem? Their new world is nothing more than a return to an old world. A world where those people felt more comfortable but had the same new problems wearing old clothes. There is no new steel, just rust painted over. While the tide was out these people swept the beaches clean and claimed victory. Until the sea returned with a vengeance. But what if. What if a particularly-defiant group of powerful people found themselves gathered around the same table staring down the same global problems and REFUSED to be traditional? What if they decided to either push back the land or the sea or both to make space for something entirely new.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. @conaldar   Ya I get the GM frustration of things not moving when people are close or some people are not. That being said, I'm actually enjoying the game (mostly reading for me so far, but that's my fault for drop kicking someone) But even that was actually in an attempt to learn something about the prison. I get your frustration but a lot of the time, it seams worse then it is as the GM.
  3. I'm fine with accelerating our break out by a bit. We're villains, we're the pro-active ones, the good thing is that we're being fed and acquiring the information necessary to break on outta here and go about being Supervillains.   The Accountant seems to be super duper close to putting his finger on the button of what the prison "type" is, while at least Siren is making some fantastic social rolls to help support it. So once we know what type of prison it is and where some key players fit, we can make our plant to break out.
  4. I see players writing "make something happen". I've been doing that and it just seems going to solitary is your team plan for the most part. There's only so much that can be done in jail that doesn't have bad results. Gathering info from NPCs is the key.   Rather than being active it feels like some players are waiting for me to break the PCs out. Which is why I offered an alternative start since I had no intention of running "Prison: the RPG."   What event are you waiting for?
  5. I'm totally fine with what we are doing right now (Yes I know I'm in solitary confinment) However, ya. You can just have something happen to the jail. It woulid even be fine to have some one else get broken out by an outside group. Break the prisons system, give us our powers back and we bust out.
  6. I'll admit that I've been rather busy this past couple of weeks, in all my games, and the IC post I had intended to put up of Siren spending her week hasn't materialised. So I was mostly just waiting on the results of her checks.   I'm fine with the current scene, and a prison-break initiation is a fun way to do it. (hell that's how City of Villains starts out) But I am looking forward to us being "unleashed" on the world again, creating our plans to acquiring money, a HQ and having our fights with the super heroes/authorities, as that's usually a bit more exciting hah.
  7. I’m going to suggest being even lazier than that: just have something big happen at the prison. Jailbreak, power outage, cyber-warfare, alien invasion…   if you like, you can lead off the next post with ‘a month later…’, or whatever feels best. In any case, I’m flexible.
  8. Alright folks 😐 I thought Banaphone wanted a "prison break" kind of open for this but after about a week in I noticed most players just weren't feeling it. I like the characters you all have made and IMO it'd be a huge waste to see this team of supervillains fizzle into nothing - which is what this thing is doing. So I have a proposal:   I can restart the adventure beginning just after the Insurgency is sentenced on a new IC thread. Instead of the "prison break" scenario this would turn into "a funny thing happened on the way to jail" story which provides an opportunity for the villains to escape in-transit to the prison. I already have a few scenes worked out for this and it definitely would be more interesting than the Gaddis breakfast menu.  Thoughts? @cbenny @DecoyGirl @wtaylorjr2001 @SageBahamut @Bananaphone @Rudolf
  9.   Oleg will lie in his bunk, and read his book. Apparently, ‘the Wretched of the Earth’ was an update to Marx, but Oleg wasn’t sure Marx could be improved upon. Still, it would be useful to read, if only to refute it.    Do I remember anything about the Asian woman from earlier?
  10. @Conaldar So, how are things going? Are you waiting on us for something at this point?
  11. Heads up. My PC exploded in a fireball visible from outer space. I'm  still here however.
  12. Sorry, I clearly don’t have the hang of checking Mythweavers and checking -other- Mythweavers yet. Am I still welcome?
  13. Social roll: Persuasion (assuming +'s for Attractive) Insight roll. Perception Roll.   The dice seem to suggest that Siren goes through the next week like a social butterfly oblivious to what is around her but very keen of who is around her.
  14. Everyone still here? I got a notification the thread was archived. Not sure what that does with BALDR.
  15.   For what is was worth Scylla perked up once the lights went out. The night being her preferred time anyways moving from her contemplative spot to start looking around the cell she was in inch by inch, using her finger and nails to search for any small crack of seem as she did. Not that she thought she would find anything mind you, no she was sure that other inmates had already tried that, she was more doing it to get the general feel of the entire place more then anything.
  16. Herbert Anderson (The Accountant) Over the course of his first week, Herbert did his best to lie low. He followed instructions, didn't cause any problems, and tried to de-escalate potential conflicts with his words rather than fighting. He didn't seek out Granny, but he also didn't avoid her. In short, he behaved like a model prisoner.   He spent most of his time quietly observing the prison routine, looking for patterns and opportunities. Anything that could potentially be exploited to gain a higher degree of freedom.
  17. So a week will pass. My next post reflects that but I need checks to inform the post: Players need to make a social interaction check using their PC's highest social skill Players need to make an Insight check to notice the 'atmosphere' around Gaddis Players need to make a check using the higher of Investigation or Perception to gain info about the greater facility Again, PCs can go to the Exercise yard for physical activity or to wander, the Infirmary for physical concerns (illness, injury, haircut or shave), the Conference room to make contact with allies outside Gaddis, or the main cellblock to play digital games, read books or relax. Interaction with teammates or inmates can occur anywhere.
