  1. Posted actions. Included the concentration check. I have a plan if Kendrick survives this round. I intend to drop a silence spell while they dig out. It won't affect them in the shell, so when they burst out by probably using magic, I think they will not be expecting it and possibly waste another round or two of spells.
  2. Kendrick Willowsong His enemies were clearly upon him now, the pain attested to this. He gritted his teeth and concentrated on piercing the vale again. If this fight went any longer there might not be any Willowsong family members left on the other side of death to call upon. "Entrap those at the cave entrance! Let them see your faces!" Kendrick cast Wall of Ectoplasm shaping it as a hemisphere. It requires 36 damage to destroy a ten foot square section. Damaged sections will be filled by spare sections if this were a flat wall. The overall size of the wall would shrink relative to the damage. Since Kendrick can create a hemisphere 16 feet in diameter but is only creating one 10 feet in diameter this should leave lots of extra ectoplasm to fill in the gaps. A fear effect radiates from one side of the wall. In this case Kendrick chooses the interior wall of the hemisphere.
  3. Dahr-Ol of the Beornings Dahr-Ol's mother, Avina, was stocky and broad shouldered, typical of the women from the hills, where life was cruel at best. Jet black hair in barely tamed curls fell to her shoulders. Sharp green eyes assessed her son, and the companions who brought him home. She quickly made the decision they were good folk and welcomed them with what little she had. Always there was a fire in the hearth for any who felt a chill, and she kept a thick broth simmering, should any be hungry. For Dahr-Ol she reserved some sharp words in the hill people tongue, possibly an older version of Westron. It was clear this was not his first injurty to be tended. For Elfwynn, who even wounded insisted on helping with keeping the home, she reserved a softer remonstration if she worked her injured arm too heavily. Though thickly accented her common was understandable. She made introductions throughout the village, clearly pleased that her son was home and in the company of brave warriors. Often, she stared a bit longer at Gramtyng. As if the sight of a horse lord unsettled her in some fashion. Dahr-Ol endured his time of rest as best he could. Naturally active, he was not thrilled to be confined to his bed. He had often played among the large stones of the river as a lad, though. And their appeal as sport had not waned. On his third day home he thought to give an easy one a quick climb. Avina was quick, forthright, and as loud as any man when she scolded him for trying to climb one near the shore. Chagrined, he returned to the hut before his mother could summon Elfwynn to help her. He was not so stupid as to risk the wrath of both his mother and Elfwynn. He would rather face the Black Uruk again. Learning of the message and it's coded language he understood the need for secrecy and gave his own suggestion for a reply. "Our own journey has been eventful. It might be wise not to look for us too soon. Our tidings will prove father's concerns well founded. But the path forward will be discernable." Axe stats: Damage 9/Edge 10/Injury 20 Elfwynn listened, such deceptive language was often necessary among those of her people who did not fully support the leadership of the sorcerers. She nodded approving of the overall tone and content. "There is no hint that we fought or were injured, that is good, for such information would serve to confirm our recent scouting too clearly. Now let us go sit by the Anduin. Your mother says we both could use the fresh air, but attempt to climb the rocks again even once and it will be the bed for you for the next two days. She's even threatened to ask Barin to hog tie you if you keep trying..."
  4. Karadoon "Iphigenia is right. People who do not honor their spoken word will not honor their written word. As for my people I would counsel a cautious approach. The brotherhood of my people has been sorely tested of late." Weapon - Combat statsBAB +1 Extra +1 (Brother Koji spell effect) Cutter: +2War Axe D6/D8 (1h/2h)
  5. Let me look at R20 again tonight. Maybe I can shape a wall to cut more of them off vs a hemisphere.
  6. I don't think Izenfen took much damage if any. If they spend a round buffing, we get two rounds to heal and prepare because they have to spend at least one round forcing their way out. Which will also burn an offensive spell or two from them. Otherwise I can drop another lighting spell centered on me. I can exclude targets so the party can rush to me. That would make is a juicy fireball or similar target....
  7. Karadoon "Perhaps our best use of the remaining teavel time would be best spent bringing back the cannons we salvaged from the old pirate ship. That area would not be so far from the forest where the dog faced people are. If a working party dropped us off they could retrieve the cannons while we looped around to scout the dog faces more thoroughly and then made our own way home. When we entered their forest last time they appeared to have a large encampment set up. It was dozens if not hundreds of camp fires large. Could have been a permanent dwelling for them." 8. My current plan is to drop an ectoplasmic hemisphere 10 feet in diameter at square I have marked with double red "XX". My goal is to encapsulate all three in an ectoplasmic barrier. I think I counted the distance right to that square. But please check the math, I have a 70 foot range to work with. That should give me just enough space to put them in a bubble 18 inches thick. Each 10 square feet of bubble has 36 hit points. I know it won't hold them long but it should rob them of at least one round. if you guys could kill the opponents circling me in that round, when my wall drops we should be in a much better tactical position. I can form two more of these, that might buy Aranaias two rounds to get Duncan healed up before I can't block them anymore
  9. There are. We took them from the ghost pirate ship and buried them ashore. I think we got two of them off before things started breaking.
  10. Karadoon "Us and a few extras might be all we can muster for the winter. The dwarves are somewhat divided internally at the moment. Some of the humans are outright at war. The descriptions from the refugees make me think the Drakvians might side with the Maliente. Scouting the terrain, locating their encampments, outposts, and settlements is all good. And I'm definitely willing to burn a few tents after what I saw at the outpost. We could start over here where we labeled this are dog face people. These are a short race. Have kind of dog like features. They attacked us on sight. But I don't recall seeing them use magic. They are, so far as we can tell, very cruel. We found one of them we think the others buried alive in some sort of torture device...." Karadoon pointed to an area on their charts that was just north and slightly to the west of Free Harbor. 11. This is where I believe the Drakvian refugees could be a source of lore for us. We just need one or two advanced apprentices who finally decided to run away to make themselves known. If they are unwilling to stray from the camp, that's fine as long as they are willing to tutor us. And, if we did have a mage character join, we have a ready made reason for how the mage showed up here.
  12. This would also be a problem for wooden palisades, abatis, some shields, formations of bowmen.... Many potential applications here. I also wonder just how far we could ask our new friend in the forest to go for the cause. Magically derived plant matter would survive. If she could sacrifice a few limbs we might really be onto something. On an unrelated note, we once found a small trinket (an articulated toy metal horse, like a child's toy) stuck in a pouch in the river. It almost had the feel of a totem or charm put there as a good luck charm or something. Now that we have met our tree friend, I wonder if the river holds such a creature.
