Falken resists the urge to take his bow in hand, as it would send the opposing message that his companion are proclaiming. Not being the optimistic one, the hunter is on the fence as to someone... or something watching them would be be a threat or not. Hopefully, if they are being watched, as Kain says, they are survivors. Only time will tell. He rejoins the group, scanning around for whoever Kain has felt. As the joy of finding a familiar face settles, Falken returns to reality. "Hold on! That's not right! This place wasn't in such a bad shape! It's been attacked, and the impaled bodies is the calling card of the Talons..." His face takes a worried look. He proceeds to the nearest door, hoping that not everyone was killed. Action Rolling for Nature or Survival (both are +4) to get an idea of how long ago the bodies have been dead.
  3. would you accept the Unearthed Arcana's Revised Ranger? I've had Falken take another level of fighter right now, but if you don't mind, I'd change that to a dip in Revised Ranger. Falken was visibly bleaker as they lost companions. He felt he had failed them. But he finally reached their destination, he seemed less morose. As the other group comes into sight, he seems to regain hope. But the sight of his friend Harin is the catalyst that is able to bring a smile back to his face. He has to force himself out of the strong handshake, as if he feared of letting go. Harin, as always, has the right words at the right time, and Falken bursts out laughing. "Not this time!", he replies in elvish. Regaining control of his emotions, he returns his sight to the structures in front of them. "It's been a while, but I admit my memories of the place looked a little better. Then again, perhaps I have unconsciously... embellished those memories since we had barely escaped a fight at that time..." He re-seats his gear to redistribute weight properly, then adds: "So, shall we go in?"
  5. Thanks Anthr4xus! A bit of bad timing on my part, I have a rather busy week and weekend, so this is an FYI that I might not be able to post until Sunday.
  6. Rolling for stats always draws interest from me, so let's see where that takes me! 2024-04-14: haven't given up yet, but I'm struggling to get my head around the Dragonlance setting... :( 2024-04-19: ok, I give up. I tried reading the game thread, and I still can't make heads or tails of what's a race name, a person's name, or a place name. So I'm confused as to what's going on in this world.
  7. considering we're leveling up, I don't think I've seen how you want to proceed with hp beyond first level. Max? Average? Roll-with-average-as-minimum? Roll-too-bad-if-you-roll-a-one? Other? :)
  8. Thanks Updated list: Setare: rogue, Soulknife Amelia: fighter (ranged), Gunslinger Kain: fighter (melee), Eldritch Knight Karlov: cleric, Grave Haakon: Wizard, Abjuration Harin: Bard, College of Lore Falken: fighter (ranged), Eldritch Knight
  9. well, Kain appears to be our main frontliner at this time, so changing him would be changing one deficiency for another. Thanks , I've added Haakon to the list, which does fill our weak spot. As stated above, the only thing that needs to change is the posting rate! :)
  10. I've become to see levels 1 to 3 as tutorial for the game! :) I started on TSR's D&D (the red box), then moved to 2E AD&D. Then I became an adult and moved for work, so I unwillingly skipped 3e, 3.5e, and 4e - although I did play Star Wars d20 revised and Star Wars Saga, which I think is based on 3.5. When I thought about introducing my kids to D&D, it was 5e. While 5e is not perfect, I think it is still the edition that I prefer - to me, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. , how about setting a date for both groups to move on? Maybe next Tuesday, as it would leave an entire week from my initial post for the rest of the players to manifest themselves?
  11. Added Karlov to my previous post, which means we're not as magic-deprived as I originally perceived. Still won't be casting Fireball anytime soon, though! :) I'm generally not a fan of 1st level characters. They can't do much, and, in this case, the abilities they pick up upon selecting a subclass is, mechanically, totally unrelated to what had come before. That said, I had Falken's wife be a wizard in his backstory, and in the pre-game thread, I had him pick up an interest with the wizard little girl. At one point, he showed her a small notebook containing magical formulas he had yet to master. I imagined those to be the cantrips and 1st-level spells he would pick up upon reaching Eldritch Knight. But in the game itself, there wasn't much opportunity for that to show up. Besides, I was trying to move us along, since the posting rate had already dropped before our first fight was over. And so was Falken - he's focused on getting to Silbervas.
  12. Thanks to Neopopulas, astronavigatrix and FelixFaust for replying. And a major thanks to Anthr4xus for rescuing a game started by someone else. It's possible that the other players haven't yet read those posts due to the chocolate-egg laying bunny holiday, but for everyone one else, please at least let us know (either here or in a PM to Anthr4xus) if you're no longer interested in this game. Assuming there's still only 4 players left, I'm still interested in continuing. Setare: rogue, Soulknife Amelia: fighter (ranged), ??? Kain: fighter (melee), Eldritch Knight Karlov: cleric, Grave Haakon: Wizard Falken: fighter (ranged), Eldritch Knight That does make us a bit weak in the magic department. If that's acceptable, I'd be willing to remake Falken into a Ranger to diversify the eventual spell list - I've been thinking lately that the Ranger class would actually fit better how I've been playing him. If that's not acceptable, it's fine - I'll have to decide if I'm still going for Eldritch Knight, or maybe multiclass into Ranger? In any case, I'm all for fast-forwarding both groups to Silbervas. in group 1, I've inadvertently made Falken the "leader", even though I (the player) have no knowledge of the setting. I'm hoping Anthr4xus has something planned to push us beyond that, because I have no clue what to do next! :) I've always been under the impression that people don't like having a group leader, but I can see your point.
  13. Question for both groups: are you guys still interested in this game, and is the posting rate good for you? For me, I like the game setting, I like the characters, but the posting rate is just too slow, even by Myth-Weavers standard. Group 1 has been slow for almost 6 months, with some players not playing at all. Group 2 has gotten slow as well after leaving Oma's hut. Both groups are headed to Silbervas, and I was hoping that at that point, both groups would merge, keeping those who are actually playing. But at this posting rate, I find it hard to stay interested. I'd like to stay if things can pick up. Therefore, I'll restate my question: are you guys still interested in this game, and is the posting rate good for you?
  14. Rolling for inspiration! Edit: good rolls, but I seem to be in an inspiration black hole at this time... :(

Once the danger appears to have passed, he sighs quietly. Following Karlov back onto the road, he replies to the cleric's comment: "Don't be mistaken; this isn't justice - it's meant to feed fear into the people and make them obedient. And for the most part, it's working." Looking at Setare, he adds: "Which is why I'm hiding at the first sight of anyone. And why I don't plan on going to Lekar." He looks ahead. "Well, we better get moving again, before nightfall."
