  1. I'm on vacation and traveling for a week from today. I won't be able to post until I'm back.
  2. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 41/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Syhlas nods at Baldric as the half-elf bard speaks. "Yes you could say that. We work for the Town Council of Breachill and Voz has comitted some serious crimes against citizens of that town so we are here to bring her to see justice." His face wrinkles in a strange grimace and the rogue looks sideways at Arionne and Mathilde before adding. "Or just kill her." "We have heard about the portals as well and we have an interest in finding out more about them. What do you know about that? And those Cinderclaws." OOC Action 1: Action 2: Action 3:
  3. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 41/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Syhlas is normally not the suspicious kind of person but after the recent events he takes a more reserved position when Baldric appears and then a few moments later is joined by a woman with very long braided hair. He lowers his weapons when the others start to introduce themselves and his strained facial expression cracks up in a smile that is more usual to him. He even sheathes his shortsword as he takes a few steps forward to greet them. "My Lord!" He bows at the half-elf "My Lady!" He turns towards Renali and looks very impressed at her long hair. "We are all on edge I guess. My name is Syhlas Yaeder, bane of House Thrune and vagabond extraordinaire." He overempthasizes his introduction without actually knowing why. It just feels like something he has wanted to say for a while. "So you are here looking for the portals, but you don't know an elf named Voz?" There is a smidge of suspicion in his question but he also wants to check if they might have seen her in here. OOC Action 1: Action 2: Action 3:
  4. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 41/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Syhlas is stunned for a moment as Arionne and Mathilde finish off the two spider creatures. He is especially impressed by how the Iomedaean uses her rapier. They should spar against each other when they get some time as she can definitely teach him a few moves and tricks. He looks at the dead gnomes and pays them a quick prayer of respect. There is nothing they can do for them now, perhaps later. "Another elf, you say?" Syhlas turns towards Vharag and his strange familiar. Then he looks in the direction Verjigorm indicates. "Let's go check that. Could be a companion of Voz." OOC Action 1: Action 2: Action 3:
  5. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 41/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: "This is stickier than Thrune's arse. Not as foul-smelling though." Syhlas curses as he moves into the spiderweb and then he is forced to cough from the dustiness. "Well maybe! Damn!" He curses even louder and the moment of surprise is definitely lost. He parries the attacking tixitog and when Arionne moves in to flank it the swordsman can exploit a few openings in the spider-like creature's defenses. However his attacks are weak and unfocused. "Alright! That was just warming up! You don't want these blades to hit you!" He has no idea if they understand Common but he adds a few ugly grimaces and weird stances to his words and hopes the message goes through. OOC Action 1: Strike with Rapier Action 2: Strike with Shortsword Action 3: Demoralize T1
  6. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 36/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: As soon as they see the two spider-like creatures feasting on something that looks like a human Syhlas prepares himself to attack them. He holds his two blades in each hand and gives his companions a quick look. He nods once at Arionne's suggestion before moving into the cavern as silently as possible trying to avoid touching the spider-web. OOC Action 1: Move stealthily to get in position to surprise attack one of the creatures. Action 2: Action 3:
  7. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 36/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Syhlas searches the bodies of the defeated ape-men and the area that looks like it has been the scene of two fights in short time. "Looks like we may have to liberate Voz from these weird cultists before we can ask her about her business and crimes." He picks up a piece of cloth from the fallen bodies and wipes off his two blades while the others look over the documents. He looks over Arionne's shoulder to get a glance of some of the drawings though. "What are those religious symbols? I recognize that wasp symbol of Calistria, they used to have a secret cult in Kintargo." OOC Action 1: Action 2: Action 3:
  8. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 36/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Enfeebled 1, Frightened 1 Syhlas hesitates for a few moments even feeling a bit staggered when the ape-man shaman taunts him. That is his usual way of fighting but this time it back-fired on him. Then he felt heaviness descend upon him making him feel weaker. "What are you?! Let go of me!" He shouts out in anger and then strike twice with his weapons trying to exploit openings in his opponent's movements. Finally he takes a step to get closer to the other spellcaster and stand shoulder to shoulder with Mathilde to hinder the foes to get away from them. OOC Action 1: Strike with Rapier at Acolyte 1 (still Off-guard) Action 2: Strike with Shortsword at Acolyte 1 (Off-guard) Action 3: Step (S)

If you can see a creature's mouth while it is speaking a language you understand, you can interpret what it's saying by reading its lips. You have a +5 bonus to your passive Wisdom (Perception) and passive Intelligence (Investigation) scores. War CasterYou have practiced casting spells in the midst of combat, learning techniques that grant you the following benefits: You have advantage on Constitution saving throws that you make to maintain your concentration on a spell when you take damage. You can perform the somatic components of spells even when you have weapons or a shield in one or both hands. When a hostile creature's movement provokes an opportunity attack from you, you can use your reaction to cast a spell at the creature, rather than making an opportunity attack. The spell must have a casting time of 1 action and must target only that creature. | Features Wrath of the StormAlso at 1st level, you can thunderously rebuke attackers. When a creature within 5 feet of you that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to cause the creature to make a Dexterity saving throw. The creature takes 2d8 lightning or thunder damage (your choice) on a failed saving throw, and half as much damage on a successful one. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest., Channel DivinityDestructive Wrath - When you roll lightning or thunder damage, you can use your Channel Divinity to deal maximum damage, instead of rolling. Turn Undead - As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a prayer censuring the undead. Each undead that can see or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is turned for 1 minute or until it takes any damage. A turned creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from you as it can, and it can't willingly move to a space within 30 feet of you. It also can't take reactions. For its action, it can use only the Dash action or try to escape from an effect that prevents it from moving. If there's nowhere to move, the creature can use the Dodge action., Thunderbolt StrikeWhen you deal lightning damage to a Large or smaller creature, you can also push it up to 10 feet away from you. Wearing: Mariner's Scale Mail, City Watchman helmet, traveler's outfit, +2 longsword, dagger, Amulet of the Devout, Necklace of Adaption Njardun wasn't used to all this swimming before getting in position for a marine attack. With the navy they had usually attacked from small rowboats when stealth was needed. More common was just to approach with the main ship and board the pirates they hunted. This was completely different and he just had to adapt, something he was pretty good at. He left his pack and shield behind on Sweet Pea, checked the new longsword in its scabbard by his hip. The helmet didn't fit very well and obscured his vision but it might serve a purpose. His clothes were still wet from the previous swim when he dropped into the water again. He didn't see much in the darkness but approached Eirann who he was assigned together with. "I don't see much down here. You are a faster swimmer than me but I need someone to follow in the water. Will you stay just ahead of me and keep my pace until we reach our target?" 10. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 36/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Syhlas moves in the middle of the group as they proceed through the narrow and damp cave tunnel. He is too focused on the tracks when they are suddenly attacked. The noise strikes him and stuns him for a short moment but when he looks up and sees what kind of creatures they are he recognizes them from the castle. "You again" he shouts out. He easily maneuvers out of the area with vines and jumps onto one of the crates against the opposite wall of the cave. From the higher ground, he feints an attack at one of the spellcasters and then follows up with the real lethal thrust of his rapier. OOC Action 1: Stride E, SE Action 2: Feint Acolyte 1 (-2 to Perception and Reflex saves until end of my next turn if success) Action 3: Strike Acolyte 1 with rapier
  11. Active Conditions: Panache "Those two are with us, Arionne!" Syhlas nods at the two orcs. "Well three." He gives the familiar a quick look to indicate them as well. "We would not have been able to defeat the leader as quickly without the aid of Vharag. So he is definitely on our side." The swordsman has nothing to object about Alek and Tarn bringing the mercenaries to Breachill for justice. That would have been his suggestion too and when Vharag thinks the same he starts to like the orc even more. Syhlas has no prejudice based on race or ancestry and there had been a few half-orcs and orcs fighting against Thrune back in Kintargo so he certainly doesn't think they are bad on sight. There are other groups of people though that he has strong feelings against. He was actually happy to have Alak leaving the group. "Voz went into that cave back there so let's prepare and go after her." He updates Arionne and Mathilde. OOC Action 1: Action 2: Action 3:
  12. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 37/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Panache Syhlas looks at Verjigorm with an astonished frown as the strange creature spoke. "A pleasure to meet you all." He just says giving the two orcs a Quick Look each. Then he goes to check the chest Dmiri is indicating. He takes out the most its contents and puts them on the table. "I'm no going to kill you, Dmiri." He turns to look at the older orc. "Vharag, since you have been captive here I think you should decide the fate of this one." "Keen to join us in a cave hunt?" He added with a smile. "She-who-Sleeps you said? Is that some kind of goddess you follow?" OOC Action 1: Action 2: Action 3:
  13. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 37/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Panache Syhlas raises his eyebrows, further impressed by the big orc as he answers the questions directed to Dmiri. "Very perceptive." He nods and looks through the back window at the cave entrance Vharag points out. Somehow he had missed that when he made his invisible recon of the meadow. His focus had been to count the number of guards though. "Answer his questions!" He demands of Dmiri. "And what do you know about this cave? Why did Voz enter it?" When the situation is under control he relaxes a little and introduces himself to the orcs. "My name is Syhlas Yaeder. Me and my companions come from Breachill searching for Voz as she has committed murder there and we have reason to believe she has plans to do much worse things." He lets his friends introduce themselves and add information about their quest as they like. He then looks puzzled at Verijgorm sitting on Vharag's shoulder. "What is that? A wyrmling you said?" Then he switches to Draconic as he had heard him speak earlier "You must be some kind of familiar then?" he asks the tiny creature directly. OOC Action 1: Action 2: Action 3:
  14. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 37/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Panache Syhlas gives Vharag a smile and a nod as the orc approaches him and the surrendering hobgoblin. "Impressive escape artist skills." He says before turning his attention back to the mercenary leader. He sheathes his own weapons and picks up Dmiri's rapier and inspects it while he addresses her. "Go sit over there." He points at one of the chairs against the inner wall of the cabin with the rapier. "This is a nice, balanced blade..." "Anyway, we are searching for an elven woman named Voz. A sorcerer or wizard perhaps. Do you know anything about her? We heard she might have come this way recently." He turns to look at Vharag and his orc companion while still talking to the Dmiri. "And why do you keep these two as captives?" The orcs might be able to answer that themselves but he wanted to hear the mercenary's explanation. OOC Action 1: Action 2: Action 3:
  15. Syhlas Yaeder () Human Rogue 3 HP: 37/41 | AC: 20 | Perc +7 | Fort +9 | Ref +11 | Will +11 | Speed: 30 ft. | Abilities: Deny advantageNot Off-Guard vs. hidden, undetected or flanking opponents of same or lower level. Active Conditions: Panache Syhlas gives the captive orcs a quick nod of acknowledgement when he enters the cabin. There is no time to free them now he thinks, but soon it becomes obvious that he doesn't need to worry about that as one of them breaks free on his own and casts some type of spell at the duelist hobgoblin. Syhlas tries to dodge Dmiri's attack but takes a hit in his upper left arm. Then she gets tripped by Alak. The Kintargan takes a posing stance with his two blades directed at the prone opponent. "You need to stay on your feet to be able to kill me, and I hate to say it but odds are against you. However, you wouldn't have the pleasure of killing me even in a fair fight." Fair fights don't exist anyway. In combat for your life you take the opportunities you get so Syhlas thrusts both his weapons at Dmiri in a twin attack before she could get back on her feet. He slices her twice and then puts the point of his rapier at her throat. "Give up! You are done!" OOC Action 1: Bon Mot vs Dmiri Action 2: Strike with rapier Action 3: Strike with shortsword Reaction: Nimble Dodge vs. the first attack I can see (+2 AC)
