  1. Diana There are two things Diana hates: celery, and bullies. Also stomping on one's ink: that crosses a line. As Thomasina is concentrating on her device, Diana reaches to the side of the wall and picks up a couple of the disc thingies and leverages one of her most under-rated skills: ultimate frisbee championship. That was on computer, but still, ballistics you don't forget. Her trajectory goal is straight to knock the device out of Thomasina's robot hands and interrupt the second portal.
  2. Diana This is not the first time Diana has attempted to quell violence through speech. This is the not the first time violence was against people. This is the first time, though, she's trying to convince animals; non-human ones. "No, Thomasina, you're mistaken about us. Though not about them. Them chicken-killers, these, ah, butchers, have no sense for the value of your life. *We*, though, understand you have goals and wants and the rights to pursue them. Also beautiful feathers. But murder, there, is no answer to murder. Would you forfeit your higher ground for revenge? Surely you have proven your point and we can help you so. Buy you wouldn't unleash more destruction and find yourself called a butcher yourself? A murderous fowl? A turkey bent on destruction, with whom the only argument comes out of rifles and knives?" OOCAs I don't need to approach, I'm assumingI don't need to defend against the field? Trying to create a "Distracted/hesitant Thomasina" advantage.
  3. Diana Her trust in poultry having been previously shaken, Diana lets Inkwell conduct negotiation, though she harbours little hope. Instead, she stands ready to interpose herself in the path of any sudden mechafowl attack, hoping that the more cunning Purple & Blue may sniff out something while the chicken-brained mastermind is distracted.
  4. Diana As she steps into the cave mouth, Diana is trying to remember whether she's claustrophobic, and whether she's confusing it with acrophobia, which helps her keep focussed away from the dangers and giant intelligent turkeys that may lurk inside. She does have type to take a picture of an interesting rock, though.
  5. (Waiting for Blue to complete her interrogation of the farm before we enter the cave with her and Inkwell)
  6. And so I DID follow through on this pledge and played 4 sessions of WO with 3 players. We're due for a fifth session but as I'm leaving MW I post now. I won't be WoTing because I realized it's basically some form of generational divide on what "playing a RPG" means and my critical comments are pointless. If you're an 80s gamer and thinking of games in terms of challenge and bottom-up rules, it's not for you. It's a pretend game, in the sense that it's a framework affording grown-ups to do pretend-play and narrate stories without sounding like dorks. We had fun, to be sure, with the quest of our Bullywug Marauder for longjohns, or the utter incompetence of the monsters to achieve any goal. But if I want to have fun narrating the story of a dungeon, I'll do free-form on Mythweaver, thank you. (Well if MW was compatible with my browser, that is).
  7. Follow-up if anybody somehow encounters the same issue: support tells me they can't support something as old as FF72 with the framework they're using.
  8. Hey, Got the reply from support I dreaded: upgrade your browser to the very latest... to run a forum... So I'm sorry but I won't be playing in your upcoming game, and once my other game is over I'll bow out of MW. I'm not going to buy a new ugly PC or install Win10 to play on a forum.
  9. Got the reply from support I dreaded: upgrade your browser to the very latest... to run a forum... So I'm sorry but I won't be playing here anymore. Not dropping out of the game, though, that would be rude. But once it's over I'm not registering on another one.
  10. Diana Seeing has the poor man wouldn't be in a condition to answer questions, and her paramedic skill about as high as her lumberjack's, she suggests to entrust the farmer to the firemen - though Purple might have a better idea! Assuming Inkwell is forwarding her discovery, she would follow her after turning on the newly-acquired Dim Flashlight app on her phone, because those DELs are way too bright to convey the proper atmosphere.
  11. Btw the FF console reports a few errors when loading one of the problematic pages. Ugly copy paste SyntaxError: expected expression, got '.' root_framework.js.gz:97:17 SyntaxError: expected expression, got '.' global_global_core.js.gz:22:863 TypeError: ips.controller is undefined plugins_plugins.js.gz:1:40 TypeError: ips.controller is undefined root_front.js.gz:1:40 SyntaxError: expected expression, got '.' front_front_core.js.gz:38:29 TypeError: ips.controller is undefined front_front_clubs.js.gz:2:40 TypeError: ips.model is undefined front_app.js.gz:1:40
  12. I cleaned the cache, didn't work. Also it can't be a FF update issue (I meant not MY issue!) because I just don't update FF on that computer. Another issue I observe is the top menu bar's mouseover sub-menu overlays the existing one rather than replacing. All of these behaviours are new, it worked perfectly well a few days back. Looks like JS issues, but then that's not fancy JS so I don't see what could go wrong there...
  13. Just a heads up: MW has changed something in their JS config and I can't post anymore at all (with my home PC - using alternate now). Waiting to see if there'll be some resolution, but in the meantime playing will be harder.
  14. Create advantage My plan was to create the distracted aspect so that the others could tag it during this action (the one they used to get in just now). Not sure this went as planned, because obviously you replied after them. I didn't think of that... Coalfire Diana has heard her fair share of obnoxious and repetitive arguments from execs and talking heads in the past, but that one tops it. She frowns a bit then goes full death-by-logic. After a dramatic pause, she keeps talking in defiance of what the farmer just said. "Dear friends, salt of the earth, I couldn't agree more. You touch my heart strings. Feels so good to hear a kindred spirit". She tries to hug the man. Secondary goal is to unset his ridiculous hat a bit and peek under to see if there could be some gizmo on his head. But also to actually elicit a contradictory reaction. "Know that you're not alone. We are powerful. We are... two-erful. We can change things. [shakes the man and look him in the eyes] Now tell me: where do you stand?? How are you going to fix this?? Why are you stuck inside??" Two actionsIf that makes more sense, I can keep the hat-tipping for a follow-up action.

  16. Hey, For a few days now (since about march 12th 2024) there's a few things that have changed: - I can't see a game's thread bar - I can't post on any thread (the JS text box is "collapsed" with the format control not shown/loaded, as usua, but I can't focus it and therefore can't type in it) - Similarly I can't send messages for the same reason (the basic subject text box works, not the content's) - When viewing a game's summary page (the only page I can access), the topics are not collapsed Sounds like JS issues, and these are new without me changing anything. Yes I tried restarting in case FF had eaten all my memory as it sometimes does. Obviously, that's happening on my *other* computer, not this one. That other computer runs FF72. That's quite game breaking! Am I the only one?
  17. Coalfire Pushing through the firemen, Diana confronts the angry man with her own yelling. "Oh, YEAH? Fire! This is all too handy! Destroying good land... and poultry... Not meeting your quotas, are you? I've seen them, and I wonder what exactly you FEED those POOR beasts so they grow so large and... and... (mimics bulging eyes and pecking turkeys)... mesmerized what? Antibiotics? Hormones? I..." As she furiously scratches the ground, little droplets of metal begin to form, quicksilver sweat. (Intent's to distract the man so that others can sneak in the "workshop" or the main house and see if there's something besides what's in the barn.)
  18. you point out an important tool here I hadn't though about... changing out character on-the-fly to better fit what's going on, either using the rules or just playing it loose.
  19. (Grmbl lost my whole post.. retyping shorter one..) Was great and appreciated. Concur with all your points. Hex number lisibility wasn't a big issue once you know about it. Removing ECM bubble would be nice. Have thread(s) just for orders would be better Maybe encourage to post move AND shoot whenever possible so as to play a bit faster Withdrawal: keep; Sprint: keep; Extreme range: not hot on it. Vehicules: OK for padding BV only. Biomes: sure, but we should know in advance (fielding heavies on high mountains wouldn't make sense) Paperdolls: I'm ok with only using turn summary descriptions instead ("The axman's LA is almost gone") Really my only important point is that having human-led (GM or opposition player) OpFor would improve the game substantially. Princess is nice but she has her idiosyncrasies. Overall thoughts : was great. I concur with your lessons learned. Also I fear it's quite some work for you doing the screen cap, collating info etc? Overall thoughts on procedure: Indeed I think we should have a thread JUST for declarations, either one or one per player, another for discussions, and if the GM plays the OpFor, a "Secret" one for player strategies. Forced Withdrawal: the fact is sometimes "coring" a zombie mech can be long. As long as we play fair and also withdraw I to enable it. PvP scenarios: apart from player vs. GM (or players vs. player-controlled OpFor), I don't see a cool way to do PvP. Any interest in double-blind? Considering MM can handle this without giving the GM headaches, yes. Other biomes you'd like to try? Yes, why not. The high mountains are hell for slow mechs, so we might avoid those, unless we know in advance (which actually makes sense). Sprinting and extreme range - I like sprinting but not extreme range Damage paperdolls - I don't mind NO paper dolls for enemies, as long as we have a rough idea ("Left arm almost gone") as you did during this game in the turn summaries. Anything else. It was very nicely run and I appreciated the efforts. I do think having GM (or player)-run OpFor would be a big improvement. Pace was OK, but a bit faster would be great. Maybe always try to give orders for move + shoot whenever possible, possibly using conditionals. I personally don't like vehicules in BT. The idea is exciting, but it makes little sense in terms of deployement and I find them overgunned. But it's not a dealbreaker when done as way to round up BV. ALso infantry and aero I find makes more sense.
  20. I find myself at a loss there: while the plot is intriguing, I can't seem to fit my supers abilities into it, and it seems I'm missing a team... In other words, I feel like I'm not playing the right game..
  21. PbP or not, I find it very beneficial to restrict the "map", whatever it is. It increases the feeling of belonging and "owning" the setting. Your building example is interesting. The size is an issue. A "map" can be a whole country, as long as traveling allows fast transit and it's clear there isn't much in-between, but really a small region (or smaller!) works better. However if it's too small, it's harder to put the brakes on the PCs wanting to explore everything quickly.
  22. An issue that pops up in drinking games is that players will claim their PC has more or less ale fortitude depending on their species or background. You might want to account for that ahead! The problem is that most of them will claim a bonus...dwarves... elves... orcs...fighters... clerics of Cayden...
  23. Coalfire With any imminent danger averted and the fire put off, seems like it's time to move on to investigation in the city. Diana asks around if the two other rescuer know about technical stuff, or technical types, that could help out understand what the thingamajig does, besides serving as a convincing costume party outfit? If not, we'd head downtown and find the nearest Radiosmack: surely the gearheads there will know exactly what this it. Or is there a university of some kind with a bespectacled lab-coated researcher?
  24. I've GMed 4e for two full 1-30s and lots of other shorter things. Unbalance never really was an issue. If you have abusive players, I guess yes (I do remember that guy with a suspicious Tiefling Monk/Paladin who wielded a short sword only because his STR was unsufficient to *carry* a long sword...). But yes, getting everybody on the same rulebase could be an issue. I'm totally in, whatever form it takes unless a VTT I can't run. I can't offer to GM right now, but if no-one volunteers...
