hi

i had a question about my wookiee armor (blasphemy!). so this is where i got my character image:

https://www.artstation.com/artwork/yEZgR

and hes got a model of the armor. notice how it only covers part of his torso? so my question is what sort of armor rating and penalties you think this should have. i imagined it as being light and flexible. im also totally okay with it just being flavor since hes a wookiee anyway.

For the sake of simplicity, let's stick to the armor list on page 5. Pick one you like. If you want him to not be wearing a helmet, you lose the benefit of your AR to your head, but don't take the -1d penalty to Sense from wearing it. Beyond that, just pick one you think fits the image, or just one whose mechanics you prefer.

Are you going to re-read the applications after the deadline? I ask because I've continued to tweak my application, adding details or clarifications. So I'm wondering if I should be creating new posts in my character application thread (e.g. "added more detail to Lav's life on the run"), so that you're aware of the changes I've made since you provided feedback.

I'll be sure to reread each thoroughly.

Except the ones that aren't finished.

I was going to wait until I knew whether Garo was good to go from a story perspective before creating his character sheet- the way you phrased it indicated we could wait until we knew whether we were accepted or not: I want to make sure the concept is solid before hammering down the mechanics.

To be clear, I asked for two things from applicants: A summary of who their character is, and what kind of story they want their character to be in. Having the game mechanics isn't a requirement for a completed character, just those two things. I consider Garo complete from an application standpoint.

Hi! So I'm interested in this game but I'm completely unfamiliar with the ruleset.

I've got a character in mind as well as a general idea of what they can do mechanically (specifically a Mandalorian tech specialist), it's mostly just figuring out how to translate that into the system. It might take me a bit of time to figure things out but I wanted to get in before the game closed.

How much information is necessary when making the initial character post? Backstory outline, a fully built sheet, or something in between?

Thanks in advance!

Rather than getting into mechanical character creation right away, I'd prefer to focus on two things:

1: The kind of character you want to play.

2: The kind of story you want to play them in.

Star Wars is a setting of melodrama, which means the best stories in it are ones that revolve around the main cast. Big names doing big things. Rather than having a campaign idea all set and ready, I'd rather ask of you what kind of character you want to play, and what kind of story you want them involved in.

Regards point one, tell me a bit about your character, their quirks, and their motivations. Detail and readability are the key, here! I'll need to read a few of these, so clear headers (Description, Abilities, Personality, Goals, Backstory, or whatever else), paragraph breaks, short and clean sentences! It will help me keep your character in my head and help me sort through everyone when the application process is over.

Regards point two, tone and goals. What is happening in the wider galaxy that your character and their companions will have to deal with? What task have they been given and by whom? If you're not picky, you don't need to write anything — but if that's the case, please be extra thorough in describing your character, so I know what kind of campaign they'd be well suited for if they're being roped into a different player's story idea.

If you have an image in mind to use for the basis of your character's appearance, please include it.

Hello again!

Not sure if this has been resolved or not, but can the dice granted by Spray quality, or other such qualities, allow one to exceed 10 dice for the purposes of determining width and height of a roll? Or are those extra dice discarded?

Still trying to wrap my head around this system especially since I’m starting to toy with mechanics more.

I'm sure you'll want to wait for the GM. But thought I'd share this from page 1 of the rules.

Quote

Cardinal Rules

These are essential for playing this game.
Roll only when you need to: If the task isn’t all that impor- tant, or if an average person could do it without much trouble, don’t bother to roll. Just assume it succeeds.

NEVER roll more than 10 dice: Even if you have 10d and you get a bonus die, you still roll only 10.

Round down: Any time you must cut a number in half in the game, round down.

Managed to cobble together a sheet that I think works with translating the concept I have so far. Not sure if I went too deep with stats and skills or not, tried to compensate for the armor penalties of the armored spacesuit.

As posted above: You can never roll more than 10 dice. 10 more more dice gurantee success, which is boring! In this game, if you somehow manage to have a pool larger than 10 dice, the extra dice are simply discarded. You choose which dice in the pool to discard. Additionally, dice in excess of 10d can counter penalties. It's rare for a pool to actually get that high, but there's benefit if you somehow get there.
