Upon spying the groom’s reaction, Bernie woofs a warning to Asteroth and the others.  “Have you learned where the witch killer is?  Better do it quick—that person doesn’t look happy.  We might have a whole bunch of unhappy people here soon.”  In an effort to protect the group, he heads to the doorway, both to block any reinforcements from entering and to secure an exit out.  For the moment the large dog simply sits in the way, not necessarily threatening but alert to escalate to hostilities if needed.

"Dash"

Clever: 0 | Fierce: 0 | Sly: 2 | Quick: 3 | Danger: 0 | Lock/Unlock, Open/Close

Dash hops nervously from foot to foot as Asteroth speaks to the little longshanks. He's wary about the way the younglings might react to a talking rat, and Bernie's warning confirms his worst fears...they've been noticed.

"Hurry it up!" he urges as the groom looks their way. He wonders how they can stall the crowd and comes up with a sudden idea. Perhaps if the horses stalls came open then the longshanks would be too busy to come looking for his little group.

Nose twitching, he summons up the magic taught to him by yhat wonderful woman.

OOCDash will cast his Unlock/open on the stalls, to release the horses and distract the grooms

Bernice shrugged and point out away from the village. "Out to the fields I think. Can I pet the bunny?"

Dash twitches his ears and his nose just right, his focus on the nearest stall door. It suddenly slides open, there is a momentary clopping of hooves, and a horse begins to emerge. One of the grooms notices it almost immediately and goes to grab for the strange strapping that was on it's head. Other grooms start raising a rucus as more stall doors begin to slide open. Asteroth could hear that some of them had seen the group of animals at the door of the barn, but their more immediate focus was getting control of the horses. He heard several of them mentioning something about "witch's curse" and "bad luck". Many of them made one of two quick, strange gestures, either touching four points on themselves in rapid sequence or rapping against the nearest wooden wall or door, whenever they hear someone mention a curse or luck.

Broom

Clever: 2 | Fierce: 1 | Sly: 2 | Quick: 1 | Danger: 1 | Tidy, clean and mend

Broom wasn't sure what to do with himself. With the immediate gutters cleaned of what little they contained, he was tempted to start on his own feathers. It felt like the familiars were spending far too long within the barn.

If only I could see them.

With an inelegant flap, ol' Broom took to the air and flew to another roof, a roof from which he could watch the entrance to the barn and hopefully, a window to spy on their progress.

For a moment, Bernie looks around confused as doors start opening of their own accord, but he quickly realizes that it must be Dash, especially once he spies the trademark twitch of the rabbit’s nose.  Though not the brightest of beasts, the Saint Bernard recognizes a distraction when he sees one.  Dashing back to the others, he urgently woofs at the rat for direction.

“Which way do we go Asteroth?”

Once he hears that the deputies have gone out to the fields, he shepherds his friends out the door, offering a ride to those who need one and acting as a protective bulwark for the others.

"Thank you, Lady Bernice," He gives the girl a ratly bow. "And when asked, you did not hear me speak. Those less gifted than yourself get jealous, and I would not want you hurt. You may pet the bunny."

To Dash, "This girl has been helpful in our cause, please allow her to give you a few pets."

"Bernie," climbing back up to his mounted seat, "to the fields if you please."

Happy to see the familiars leaving the barn, Broom hops from one foot to the other and back again. As they move off towards the fields, he follows over the rooftops, giving some attention to the barn and whether anyone follows the group.

"Oh WONDERFUL!" Dash mutters sarcastically as Asteroth offers him up as the reward for the little longshanks' help. The old hare shivers nervously as gangly arms reach towards him and....

Hmmm, this is rather nice actually! he thinks as gentle hands stroke his fur and ears. Nothing like this has ever happened under the witches care and it's all he can do not to get caught up in these strange sensations.

Pull yourself together, there's work to be done! he reprimands himself, thumping one back leg into the ground before squirming away from those tickling hands and charging after his companions.

At Asteroth’s command, Bernie instantly dashes off towards the fields, sniffing every now and then to try to catch scent of their quarry.

At Asteroth's suggest that she lie, Bernice features scowl. "Lying is bad. You shouldn't lie." Nevertheless she still was happy to carefully pet the rabbit. As Dash begins to hop away from Bernice she whispers something at his back, so low that Asteroth did not even notice or hear.

The barn was a storm of chaos as the grooms attempted to keep the horses in their stalls. The dark-haired boy, however, kept an eye on group of familiars and followed them as they rushed from the barn, sparing a disapproving glance for Bernice as he did so.

Having stirred up the barn, everyone gains a point of Danger. Rolled for Asteroth to hear what Bernadette whispered. It was missed. Asteroth's Danger increases by an additional one.

Elora clambers up to a spot on the wall and leaps on the dark-haired boys head. He yelped, smacking the toadElora's DANGER increases by 1. to the floor and rushing out of the barn in the general direction that Bernie ran.

Out in the fields, there were many adult humans moved among the rows of grains and legumes. A few were mounted on horses, replete with full tack and harness. The mounted figures seemed to be coordinating and overseeing the work of the others. Everything was done with polite conversation and gentle direction, nothing rough or unpleastant.

Keeping back and watching from the air, Broom spies the nasty boy send Elora to the ground. The separation of the group festers like a rotten worm in Broom's belly. Together, together!

Turning on air, he sweeps down to pluck the frog from the ground and carry the toad back to the fields where Bernie and the others had headed.
