matt_s Posted January 6 Clone Share Posted January 6 oooh thanks for the heads up. this is insane value and even if you are not playing/running CoC now there are three by my count solo adventures in there as well!
Trigun Posted January 7 Clone Share Posted January 7 Is Call of Cthulhu worth playing? I've heard about it a lot but never found the books in every store I went for years.
leons1701 Posted January 7 Clone Share Posted January 7 You very much need the right group/mood for it to be good, though honestly we've had a pretty good track record running it as more normal horror as opposed to the usual eldritch Lovecraftian nonsense where avoiding notice and surviving with some shred of sanity intact is usually the BEST you can hope for. Still requires a lot of player buy in and a GM that's good at setting mood to be effective. You CAN do it as just monster of the week Buffy/Scooby style shenanigans, but there are probably better systems for that. You really want at least some feeling that there are things out there who's mere presence can strain your mind and that occult powers always come at a terrible cost. Spacesong Posted January 7 Clone Share Posted January 7 CoC is one of my favorite TTRPG systems. It's easy to pick up and fun to play with friends.
Malkavian Grin Posted January 8 Clone Share Posted January 8 This is the same rules used in The Void, i believe, which is really helpful because those rules need some help lol. Always been curious about CoC. Guess i get to find it now!
