Seeing that Muad'dib is having trouble with the lock, and noting that the desk is already damaged goods, Vestas loses his patience when the Thief announces he cannot pick the lock. He uses one of his hammers to tap away the front panel.

Qwinsea will give this room (3) a good hard look. He will look behind furniture, under rugs, knock on surfaces looking for false panels, and just try to be as investigative as possible. He is not dumb, but he is also no master thief or learned wizard. He is a pirate, and hiding treasure is what they do well. "Now if I was a secret where would I be?"

Vestas taps away, hard, and the desk rattles with the blows.

Qwinsea may knock on walls with his fingers, listening for hollows, but the cleric is making quite a racket with that hammer.

He searches the room as best he may, but so far he hasn't found anything beyond some loose floorboards under which he discovers what looks like rat droppings.

Fang the dog starts to bark, nosing toward the door (which leads to the hallway)

The priest swings again...

But misses the point and smashes part of a rotted side panel instead of loosening the stubborn central drawer.

He has managed to do some damage. More work and he could probably force it open without just smashing the desk to splinters.

It is making a lot of noise though...

Vestas Faircoin

"Fang, heel," says the cleric in a firm but hushed tone.

With the Guard dog at his side, Vestas clocks back his hammer ready to throw as he awaits the newcomer.

(If it takes a while he'll continue tugging at the desk panel.)

Roland has trailed behind his companions, studying the walls and ceiling as they have proceeded.

As the desk is assaulted he strands back and listensDetect evil intent for anything drawn to the cacophony.

VESTAS continues to hammer at the desk, making noise.

As Kerphi enters the hallway, he spies a slender figure at the far end, headed toward him.

With a shock, he recognizes MELLYN.

(He'd last seen her after the adventure involving the HOLBIN and BELWODE families. When the party left for GAUNTCLIFF, the elfmaid was not with them, but one of them left a note, the monk may recall).

Kerphi the Illuminated

Human Monk 2 | Stats | Languages | Spells Prepared

Kerphi's surprise fades into a pleasant smile as he regards Mellyn—though still tinged with that background melancholy that sometimes rises in his eyes. "It seems we find ourselves in similar circumstances to our first meeting! You received our message, then?" he calls out. "Or perhaps this house that spoke not minutes ago has progressed to apparitions of familiar faces?"
