Dybrar Posted February 5, 2023 Clone Share Posted February 5, 2023 (edited) Will you look at that, I actually straight up succeeded at a test! One question, though: having taken the Aim action I could re-roll 1d20, but it's not clear to me whether I'd have to use the new result or not. The only mention of any such rule I could find concerns re-rolls gained by spending a Luck point, which do force the PC to accept the re-rolled outcome, but nothing general. Basically, if I can decide to keep the original result I'll re-roll and hope for a 3 or lower so as to score an extra success (Tag skill!). If not, I am definitely not going to risk turning my success into a failure. 😛 Edited February 5, 2023 by Dybrar (see edit history) Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
X51 Posted February 6, 2023 Author Clone Share Posted February 6, 2023 In the absence of a rule, I'd say that you can choose whether to take the new result. The primary difference between the Aim action and a Luck reroll is that you spend the luck point after the roll, whereas Aim happens before the roll. Since you're investing the action without knowing you'll succeed, I think it's fair to say it should always have the potential to benefit, and not to punish. Dybrar Posted February 6, 2023 Clone Share Posted February 6, 2023 (edited) Fair enough! The re-roll yielded a 19, so I’ll be keeping the original die.
