Amy's Miniature Journey

As requested (by Erik), here are a few if the things I've been painting now that I've been sitting down again.   So it's noted, I'm posting this one quickly from my phone, not playing with layout, etc.  I'll get better!

Painting 28mm scale minutes isn't easy.  Ooof.  I like the larger scale stuff and busts.  But I need to get back into this.

First up, we've got a Tiefling thief.  I admit, I love the skin color and hair color.  Icy Violet, by Reaper is a color I keep going back to, and I used that in the hair.

Now, let us continue with the next miniature I finished.  I'm rather proud of this one, honestly.  I don't know why I enjoy painting woodgrain on tiny things, but I do.

This is a dwarf crossbowman, or, as I've named him, NMM (non-metallic metal) practice.  Egads!  I knew there was a lot of metal here.  I had NO realization it would be this much - on stuck an itty Bitty mini.  It's not perfect, it's not amazing, but it is the best NMM I've done so far!

Truly fabulous work. I love the grass stubble under the crossbowman, with its variety of colors.

Used some wheat tufts for model railroad scenics and cut it up as it was too tall otherwise.  And then a traditional grass tuft as well (from Huge Minis, iirc)

@Amy Is the backlog over or under a standard Lupine Pile, as created by @LupineRose's backlog being standardized into a unit of measurement?

Ha!

Well, I have all of Bones 5, many Chibis, and some various other Bones laying around with art models & busts.  Plus Bones 6 when that one is done.

I think my pile might be larger than @LupineRose. It's in several different places, at the moment, so I can't really measure for certain.

Learning New Things

Right, so it's been forever since I've done anything fancy on the OGMW site let alone had a chance to play around here.
This is Elanter the Lost Prince from Reaper miniatures.  Trying out saturated shadows, etc.
The eyes.. oh my gosh, the eyes... I give up on the eyes.  But the rest ...

As i seem to be double left handed with all thumbs, I’m looking with awe at those beautifully painted minis.

Thank you.  I enjoy the hobby and am trying new things to get better.

Next one up: Michelle, the Human Ranger from Reaper.  (I really do have a LOT of Reaper minis laying around)
Sculpted the little rise and creek she is standing over.  Used some Vallejo water effect ... stuff.  And punched out leaves last fall to get the foliage on the ground.
Playing with color, the cloak is ... interesting.  But the blue NMM of the armor isn't bad.  I like it and might try to do more like that.

I'm thinking of calling this one.

Started it a while ago and set it aside.

Mindwork Miniatures 'The Doctor'.

What was tough about this one was my choice of colors.  Sparkling Snow (9689) by Reaper Minis is a great off-white pearlescent color leaning towards lavender.  It really is lovely.

But it covers like crap.  I mean, really, really, really like crap.  Translucent inks have better coverage qualities.  And using it over a dark teal?  Oh my gosh, how dumb was I being?  Honestly.

I have a lovely black plinth with a back I was going to paint like a nebula - and now I am uncertain I want to use it for this model.  There are parts that are fantastic, and then there is the Sparkling Snow.

But, good news: BUBBLES!
