Glancing northward he pointed to the door there. "While we don't know how structurally sound it is, we can go that way. Will likely have to be careful though." Moving towards the door to peer inside. "May be able to go around maybe. Will have to see." Giving the rubble pile towards the east and then to the wall it connected too. Trying to gauge the strength of the remaining walls.

The Search for a Cure - Post 20


Valeria has heard tales of magical darkness in the past. Some humanoids, such as Tieflings and Dark Elves, often use it to their advantage, being adapted to the lack of light. Creatures like them, as well as dwarves and half-orcs, are usually able to pierce the darkness normally. Others, humans like herself for example, need a more powerful magic to dispel the darkness unaided.

 

Lummobella presses her ear to the door, listening intently, but hearing nothing but her own breathing and the rush of blood in her ears.

Damian wanders north, finding two closed doors, and a hallway heading east, leading to a broken wall and a fresh breeze from the great outdoors.

 

Game Mechanical/Mastery Stuff

There seemed to be some confusion about which room the dark-loving monsters were in, so I made a new, hopefully clearer map.

All of a sudden self-conscious, Valeria shoved Flint's hand away from her a bit and cleared her throat, as though this small modicum of modesty would help them in their current situation.

 

Though still sticking close to him, she was not at all in a hurry to venture into the forefront of their presently disorganized band of would-be heroes. Tentatively, Val looked toward Rawanne and then back to Flint, then said, "I don't get it. If it's just darkness, shouldn't she be able to see into it then?"

Flint supresses a smile as Val pushes his hand away. It would make easier to cast spells with his hand free.   "Bella, Rawanne, and I were able to see in the dark room. But it is better to fight when everyone can see. "    Then he adds with a shudder "Having one of those monsters drop on your couldn't be good".

Not following Bella or Damian, Flint watches both to see what they learn.

"Is a long hallway with some doors along the hall. Given the shape of the building, one could lead towards the darkened room, or towards a secondary forge perhaps." Trying to recall what he had briefly seen in the darkened room before it was perhaps plunged in darkness. Had it been a foundry rather then a forge given the double doors? Couldn't recall clearly. His gaze shifting towards the two doors beside the entrance and wondering if they were perhaps little store rooms.

The Search for a Cure - Post 21


Damian stands at the corner of the hallway, surveying the eastern-facing corridor. Fortunately, there are no immediate signs of danger. This long hallway ends with a ruined dwarven statue. Smashed long ago, the statue is barely recognizable as a dwarven monk. His stone hammer sits on the ground next to the shattered remains of his head. Two doors stand side-by-side along the north wall -- both closed.

Lummabella opens the door, finding a small cloak room. This small chamber was used to store the traveling cloaks, coats, and hats of visitors to the monastery. Now only a few moth-eaten rags hang on the rotten pegs, a single soiled hat rests on the table, and a pile of rusty tools lie in the corner, col

Damian and Lummobella need to each make a perception check. One person can choose to take an action to aid another in this roll.

Not quite understanding what Flint was trying to say, as Valeria is quite unused to the idea of battle save perhaps from settling a couple of bar brawls, she kept quiet and bit her lip, just sticking to him as he moved up the hall behind Damian.

 

Still holding the torch up high over her head like Flint had instructed, by this point she was beginning to wonder how she was going to be able to find all the ingredients necessary to help save the townsfolk.

Not immediately seeing anything, she moved just inside the door and had a good look around in the room, including the ceiling. After the darkness in the first room they looked in, she wasn't going to take any chances.

Letting Valeria's torch light the hallway before him. Slowing as he neared the first door so that he could listen even over the noise his own armour was making. His shield raised up to fend off anything that might surprise them.
