As you thank the village elders and profess your determination to press ahead, Pate the Younger thanks you and wishes you well. "Just be careful with the rain," he says, looking up at the threatening sky, "It can really come down heavy in these parts" Sure enough, as you alight back onto your mounts and coach, the first drops start to fall, and Parker puts up the hood of his cloak. "I suggest we hurry, Sirs, or we shall get thoroughly drenched."

The coach rumbles back into motion and soon leaves Capoe behind. The road gets narrower and progressively less well maintained as it climbs into the forested hills, and Parker has to occasionally swerve to avoid a pothole. The rain now begins to fall in earnest, and observing is made harder as the sun starts to set. You are tired and weary and looking forward to arriving at Oak Lodge.

Suddenly, as the road curves around a slope of rocky scree coming down on your right, Belyr spots something on the road ahead.

I am experimenting a bit with how best to display large maps in this new format. Please let me know what you think, and hopefully we will improve the process as we go. As mentioned, I will be away for a few days, so updates may be a bit slower.

Thoroughly drenched and just this side of miserable, Agitha is almost glad something is on the road ahead.

Hail, who goes there!

The unknown figure stops as Agitha hails it, then hustles off the road into the woods to your left. Who- or whatever it is, it seems to not wish to speak to you. At this distance, it is difficult to get a good look but it looks to have the stature of an adult human.

OOC

Apologies for the delay. Still travelling, so will update the map when I next get a chance.

Ashril Swiftstride, halfling ranger

Ashril, unphased by the weather, perks up at the appearance of another traveler. He dismounts from Bill, ready to intercept the stranger if it should prove necessary, but for now, he simply stays by his horse watching and waiting.

Oh, my! I think we need to question the fellow. Catch him before he gets away.

If nobody pursues the fellow, Agitha will do it alone; squishy as she is, she is fast on her mount.

Not dissuaded by the rain, Agitha steers her giant lizard off the path and into the scrubby bushes by the treeline, where she thinks she can see the figure among the trees. It is difficult to make out much more than its stature and movement, and its desire to not be intercepted, as it hustles away from the road among the mossy trees.

By now, Parker has brought the coach to a halt, clearly wondering what is the matter as he peers out into the rain.

OOC

@miteke_mw, based on your earlier post, I have made the assumption that Agitha would take a double move (80ft) to advance ahead of the party to try and intercept this individual. Please advise if this was not what you intended, or if you had expected to end up somewhere else; if so, please provide alternative coordinates.

Belyr considers calling out, his expression unsure. Instead he turns to Parker and says, "I think we'd best try and keep up, Mr. Parker. Can you bring the coach up to where we saw him on the road, please? I won't leave you there long..." he says as he hops down and runs in Agitha's direction...

Mechanics

Use all available actions to move to follow Agitha as quickly as possible.

Ashril notes that the man - if indeed it was a man - seemed to be dragging some kind of implement behind him. Belyr's concern gets the better of him as everyone sees Agitha disappear into the dense, dark forest ahead, clearly intent on intercepting the creature. He clambers down from the coach and dashes down the road towards the point where he last saw his lizard-riding companion, leaving the rest of you with a decision to make as the sun sets and the rain continues to fall...

Rolls please

Can everyone please roll Initiative, even those still associated with the coach? Thank you. All will be revealed shortly.

"Oh, wonderful." Raph muttered, hissing as he realized they were in trouble. "Get further up the road, we may be making a retreat if we can't lick this!" He advised the butler, shuffling off of the wagon and lumbering along towards the conflict as fast as his hobbled leg would allow...

(Raph will 'run' with his 20 foot move speed x4 to get closer to the scene of the troubles)
