It goes in and out throughout the ship. It does mean that anything on the other side can be hit by the ship and so its something you will have to watch for while flying the ship. You spend about 8 hours trying to find ways to detect any energy from them but you do not have the tools to detect anything from even if there is energy coming off them. Use the d drive for short jumps through the ethreal And you work on some maneuvers you could do in combat.
