Fiona targeted the rightmost of the lumbering dead on the front, in order to lure the mastermind into a false sense of safety. However, in the last moment she switched her aim to the one in the back, hoping to disrupt its control of the others. With a silent prayer to the Horned King, she let loose her arrow.

First Turn

The fire missile cast by the elf took the horrifying undead by surprise, but he only flinched a little, ignoring the piteous damage it caused. The attack of Leon was perfect. The axe cut the thorax of the undead cleanly with a horizontal cut. It would be a fatal wound against any enemy. The undead remained almost unshook by such a forceful blow, looking at Leon with glazed milky eyes.

It wasn't looking good to Dun -- the zombies slightly outnumbered the two warriors in front. And who knew what nasty trick that leering fellow in the back held in its rotten brain? But there's always something one can do to even the odds.

Dun picked another zombieZombie 2! in front and hacked at its ankles with his battleaxe, attempting to knock the ghoulish footsoldier over.

Mechanics

Dun engages Zombie 2 and does an Unbalancing Attack on it. Weapons Training boon cancels Unbalancing Attack bane. Undead needs to make an Agility challenge roll.

First Turn

Dun moved ahead to block the path of the undead. He tried to make it fall with a wide sweep of his battleaxe against his legs. He misjudged the distance and the sweep came short, passing ahead of the undead. At the same time Taran Vol, also moved ahead with her sickle in her hand, positioned at the side of Dun, and attacked the other undead. Her attack was enough to hurt the creature, but it only made a light gash at his face.

Finally the slow undeads decide to act in response. The three undead at front try to hit the combatants with their bare hands. One misses Leon, other hits Dun with some force and the third also hits Taran lightly. The horrifying undead at the back raises his hands to the sky and then points to a place in the sand behind his opponents while murmuring a silent invocation. The light in his empty sockets shines brighter for a brief moment and the sand shifts on the ground.

A foot pierces the ground close to Summer and Fiona and slowly starts to drag the body free from the sand. Suddenly he twists his desiccated body in a unexpected and spasmodic way, and stands to face them with his empty eyes.

Taran Vol grimaced as the monster's blows connected. It felt like being struck by a log of wood, solid and unyelding against living flesh.

Still, the priestess was not unfamiliar with combat. Vol waved her dagger against the undead, hoping to deter any further assault. Without stopping, she lunged, looking to stab the creature in the head with all the weight she could put behind the dagger's point.

Second Turn

Taran tried to hit the undead. Her dagger passed near his head, hitting only the empty space. Leon was more lucky with his swing. It hit the undead, despite missing his head entirely, and hit his shoulder instead. The undead's arm fell down to the ground, and soon his entire body collapsed in a pile of rotten organs and messy body parts. The magic that was holding him stitched together vanished in the blink of an eye under the amount of damage it suffered.

Summer doesn't move away, in fact she moves towards the south towards the undead. With an arcane word a long sword of fire erupts from her hand and she slashes at the undead creature.

Mechanics

Moving: South towards Undead 5
Casting: Sword of Fire

A sword-shaped length of fire erupts from one of your open hands and remains for the duration or until you drop it, which ends the spell. At that whiff of a strike, Dun was honestly losing hope for a moment, especially when that ghoul fell upon him and mauled him slightly, but then Leon eviscerated one of the ghouls accosting the party. It suddenly felt possible to win! All Dun had to was remember the basics -- no fancy stuff, just focus on the swing.

And swing he did with a guttural bellow, at the very same undeadUndead 2! that mauled him!

Second Turn

Fiona climbed the sand mound with great difficulty. The loose sand almost eating her leg with each step, over the inclined surface of the sand mound, which continued at high angle of elevation for more 40 yards until the summit. The tiredness did not afflicted her shot though, it was a perfect shot. The arrow passed between Taran's and Dun's heads and struck the horryfing undead right at the center of the forehead, lodging itself there.

Summer, with elfish grace, cut the chest of her enemy, leaving a wide lesion of charred meat. The smell of overburned meat attacking her nostrils in response.

Dun clearly was struggling to find his time. His last swing was too fast and with too much force applied that almost made he lose his balance and fall to the ground, missing the undeaad entirely.

Second Turn

The horryfing undead moves to occupy the now vacant spot of the felled undead and speaks with a whispering voice that comes from everywhere, but his mouth. The voice is piercing like bone being grinded. Mortuloj! Forlasu vian paseman vivon kaj aligu al mi glora malmorto. He hits Leon with his open hand, right at the chest. His hand crackling with a bluish light. Leon feels like his very life was drained, his color instantly vanishing from him, becoming very pale.

The other undeads try to hit Taran, Fiona and Dun, but fail miserably. The misbalance of Dun's swing, actually allowed him, to escape the undead hit.

From the sand mound, right below Fiona, other undead appears from the loose sand. This one appears suddenly with his head first, spilling sand from sides of his mouth, like a shark leaving the water to bite a prey. This new undead grabs both Fiona's legs while emerging from the sand and makes her fall down with her face first to the sand.
