Luce spends some time looking over the massive corpse. She determines a number of details

  • The thing is ancient. Easily a thousand years old. It's necromantic preservation was at the end of its endurance after all this time, though it likely still had decades of unlife still left.
  • The rituals and materials used to create it are a lost art. She recognizes only a few of the runes as the oldest forms of necromancy. It's unlikely anyone could replicate this in the modern day.
  • Some of the materials used to create the beast could be salvaged and could be worth good money, but they are indelibly infused with dark power. (A wand of Deeper Darkness has been acquired, D50 charges as below).
  • The flesh could be used to create armor equivalent to Adamantine with the right craft checks.

Luce spends a little while 'communing' performing a ritual that has a very occult sound and look to it... it's all very esoteric.

She then reports back..

"This thing is ancient, perhaps from before The Fall, perhaps even a weapon from The Fall. It's at least a thousand years old.", she purrs in the 'just the facts' tone of coroners everywhere.

She smirks and adds.. "That's a lot of candles, but it was on its last legs, or should I say tentacles?"

She pauses to gather her implements.. "In any case, The Arts used to create it are almost certainly lost. I don't think we need to worry about a monster builder wandering around.", she says with a certain finality.

Jumping up to a section of the enormous head, she murmurs something then proceeds to cut the thing open with her polearm. Luce then extracts what is clearly a wand from its flesh.

"Another interesting thing is it's carapace could be crafted into something similar to Adamantine for armor and such."
