Finally free, Riina retrieves her crossbow and raises it to her shoulder like Keanu showed her. She cast her gaze to the treeline, watching for threats coming at them from a different angle. Mór-Ríoghain's firey blast strikes the zombie, scorching it badly before Dannok steps forward and splits it like a dry log. 

In the aftermath of the fight, the world is once again silent. Though the silence is slightly broken by the sound of crackling as the semi-frozen carriage smolders in the aftermath of Mor-Rioghain's flame attacks.

"Riina? Willow?" Keanu looked to each of his sisters as he called their names, physically sighting them and confirming for himself that they're alright. Only after that does he nod, more a reassurance for himself than to anyone else, really.

 

When Rasan contemplated the idea of the ambush aloud, he answered, sounding blunt if that was possible, "Someone who's expecting a rescue party. Especially an amateur, ragtag group like us. What I don't get, is why my arrows didn't seem to even scratch them much. By right they should've laid them low."

 

"Be on your toes." He took a deep breath before shouldering his bow and drawing his kukri, taking a few more moments to look around the site to make sure there aren't any more surprises.

 

When he circles back around, he yanks the one arrow out of the dirt that had missed its mark, taking a moment to reflux the fletching, before sliding it back into his quiver.

Kaine shrugs at the talk of the ambush. It's a first for him and surely won't be the last. Seems like this party has some talent. He pulls out his flask and quickly nips before offering it to Dannok. "Most impressive."

"We should check over the carriage. perhaps something useful was left. It looked like there was armor and a nice longsword that was with the "statue"." Kaine then starts rummaging through the carriage and tosses out anything noteworthy,

Feeling uneasy, the youngest of Keanu's siblings backs towards the group, but keeps her crossbow in hand. Her living shadow made it harder to act at the best of times, when danger was afoot. Perhaps it was safest to stay armed for now.

 

"What was all that about?" She asked, a tremble in her voice. "Undead? Why on Golarion would someone do such a thing?" She added aloud. "To cause chaos after attacking a caravan?"

Keanu is able to follow the trail through the snow towards the woods without any issue whatsoever.

As it enters the full expanse of the Border Wood, the trail passes through a small clearing among the taller trees before continuing uphill and out of sight. A large chest lies half-buried in the snow, apparently dropped or discarded by those who hastily passed this way

If someone wants to grab the breastplate or MW longsword from the frozen guy, post before you move on.

 

"The bandits were unable to hide their trail in the heavy snow, so it can be followed easily without the need for Survival checks."

"Hey Keanu," Rasan shouted after him, "don't forget this sword. It's a good one."

She took the sword and ran after him. Then she looked at the others, mostly Dannok.

"Can anybody use that breastplate? It's better than any other armour we're currently using, so why not switch before we move on. It's fairly obviously too big for me and Mor, even if it accommodated her wings. Dannok, you up for some extra armour?"

Rasan will also take the jewelry, unless someone else wants to carry it. But I'm certainly not leaving it behind. The dresses yes, we can come back for those (and they're too heavy to take with us) but the jewelry is portable.
