Morph3us Posted May 10, 2023 Author Clone Share Posted May 10, 2023 That could work and help develop the spaceship side a bit more. It will also help balance with the weapons which I am thinking of dividing into "heavy" and "light" proficiencies. Targeted weapons like the torpedoes you still need to find would prompt piloting checks to avoid or potentially be shot down with light weapons I think. andersone81 Posted May 10, 2023 Clone Share Posted May 10, 2023 Kutaeg Lightbrow Raised in the strict mining clan of the Lightbrows, Kutaeg stood out like a sore thumb. While he was a fine miner, he would be more interesting in singing mining songs, and banging rhythms on the metallic stones. He soon began to show interest in songs and stories. His father was unimpressed and sold him to the neighboring Grimtide Tribe of . In that tribe, Kutaeg met Sana, the half elf Bard who trained him in the school of Lore. Sana taught him the ways, and before they knew it , Kutaeg was ready to leave. Kutaeg traveled the world, joined armies and ships on perilous missions in the stars. He wrote songs and honed his craft. Soon he returned home to a slaughter. The Grimtides had been attacked by a band of space brigands known as "The Orphans". The Orphans was a gang of bandits, Dwarves exiled from their separate clans. As an initiation they cut out their left eye and replaced it with a diamond. Kutaeg was able to fight the last of the Orphans, but they got away and took Sana with them. He vowed to search for the Orphans across the galaxy, and maybe write new songs about the adventures he found along the way. Sure enough, he found adventure. At a tavern in the reaches of space, known as The Galloping Giraffe, Kutaeg played some songs, and as always, listened for adventure. Sure enough he heard Bhalgurn and his mates from the ship "The Meridian". Instantly, he knew he could kill two birds with one pick-ax. Adventures in the far reaches of space....and a chance to investigate The Orphans. Since joining, they've fought creatures and despots, gained ships and became close as brothers of war. Kutaeg had found a new tribe. Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
Morph3us Posted May 11, 2023 Author Clone Share Posted May 11, 2023 On 5/9/2023 at 2:33 PM, Guardian3404 said: Was the original "rule" to roll for Stats with the option of taking points buy? If that's too much cheese I am fine with picking one or the other. I'd probably only roll if I had pointbuy to fall back on if I totally bombed. I could go digging for it to find out for sure if you are interested. That was before my time. My possibly incorrect recollection is it was rolling with the option of re-rolling below a certain result rather than rolling with the option of point buy. Kutaeg and Bhalgurn were point buy right? It might be easiest to just do the new characters the same way for consistency. Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls

RobGoldbeard Posted May 11, 2023 Clone Share Posted May 11, 2023 Hello! My name is Rob. This is my first time on mythweaver and it sounds pretty exciting. Thanks for the invite @Morph3us! I was thinking about creating a Paladin to help guide the party with the nuances of the Celestial - Demon struggle. Do you have any inspirations for the tone of the universe (warhammer, etc)? I'd like to make sure my character backstory flows well with the world. Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
foxtrot636 Posted May 11, 2023 Clone Share Posted May 11, 2023 Yay @RobGoldbeard glad to have you. @Morph3us I don't see anything listed, but do you remember if Heedless (adamantine breastplate), or Nisgak Libash (adamantine axe working title), or the lantern of revealing requires attunement? Morph3us Posted May 11, 2023 Author Clone Share Posted May 11, 2023 @Guardian3404: I found it. "Stats: You can point-buy them as per the Player's Handbook (PHB), use the basic/standard array, or you can roll for them in the Rolling thread. Should you roll an array with two single-digit stats (at or below 9), you are welcome to reroll that array." So you are able to take the second one if you like! 16, 15, 13, 11, 10, 9, not bad! @foxtrot636: Neither the armor nor the lantern of revealing need attunement. The axe will but it will be worth it. 😁 @RobGoldbeard: A paladin seems like a fine fit. Both the existing characters are Good. The game so far has been sandboxy but is becoming more focused on the imminent fiendish invasion. I am also more willing to make the setting my own now. It's never been as grim or over the top as WH40K and I don't think that will change. General tone I'll go for: An apocalyptic fiendish invasion is massing up but the galaxy is too vast and disjointed to mount an organized response right now. Some worlds are more connected to interstellar travel and trade than others. Thus some places may not even be aware this is coming. As for the celestials, they are somewhat missing in action. The last time this happened there were many famous celestial defenders. Among them was the Dawnbringer, a nearly mythical battleship the group is searching for. They first talked about it after seeing a series of paintings around a famous battle: Show this Quote Bhalgurn recognizes the binary star as Lament, the site of a disastrous and widely-sung battle between abyssal fiends and celestials. In fact, when he takes a closer look, he spies derelicts dotting the scene. They lurk in the gloom at the edge of the halo of light: ancient bones of long-slain monsters. When Bhalgurn points this out to Kutaeg, the bard examines it and the other paintings with that in mind. He recalls the order of battle and the outcome: a total fiendish victory though with heavy losses. Their capital ship was the dreaded A Thousand Suns, accompanied by its escorts Rain of Ruin and Slaughterhouse. The only major celestial ship to survive--which fled at the urging of its doomed companions to bring warning elsewhere--was the legendary Dawnbringer. Kutaeg also notices a few of the others touch on the same theme. None depict the battle itself but some scenes related to it. For example, the blue nebula nursing young stars is the Wolf Nebula, and it's not too far from here (in galactic terms). Supposedly, that is where Dawnbringer vanished when it was finished bringing warning to nearby stars. If the stories are true, the celestial battleship went there to hide itself in the light and spend time repairing its many wounds. It hasn't been seen since. It's far from hopeless though. The galaxy has powerful factions in it that could mount an effective defense if they put aside their differences. The return of celestial ships could be just what's needed to inspire that. Morph3us Posted May 14, 2023 Author Clone Share Posted May 14, 2023 We should also work on how these two come to seek out this expedition. Your earlier background can be flexible since the galaxy is a very big place. If you want to link your stories together, that's great. As for what draws you to the existing group, some ideas that aren't all mutually exclusive: You were present at some fiendish raid motivating you to find people who are preparing counterattacks. You have some connection to the party e.g. are from the Frostmead clan. You are following up on the legend of the Dawnbringer independently and arrive to find the heavy lifting of clearing this place out already done. You heard the Ignan court genie Al-Tammar put out word recruiting for dangerous work exploring unknown space.
