Basically damage works on increasing orders of failure. If you take 1 degree of failure on the toughness test you only have a -1 on future damage tests. 2 degrees means you take the penalty and you're dazed for a turn. Three degrees and you take the penalty, you're staggered, and you have get three degrees again your incapacitated. Four degrees is just straight incapacitation.

So the DC was 26, and Morgan got a 17. That means she failed by two degrees. So you get a -1 circumstance penalty to damage tests, and you'll be dazed next turn.

I see... so would these knots be destructible via another magic check or can I just shoot them?

You could try either. It might be more effective to use magic, but just shooting them should disrupt them as well.

I don't want to make waves, but I think Leslie's Regeneration ability (provided via her Courage power) would only heal a Toughness penalty on the second turn, at her current rank. Should we adjust for this or just forge ahead anyway?
