Rising to your feet you move after Beldas and Kealea, splitting as you go. Bettargh moves off down a different passage. With Dolan carrying off the glowstone, Finwe quickly retrieves his lantern and opens its hood, much to the chagrin of the dwarves, though not speak a word of reproval. You soon arrive in small barrel-vaulted chambers with broad stone steps
leading down from the center of one of the chamber walls. A large hammer and brass gong stand in one corner and pushed against a couple walls stone slabs
covered with furs.

Three dwarf warriors stand at the top of a stairs descending into darkness below in each chamber. The warriors stand back a few feet from the mouth of the stair, waraxes and shields at the ready. One of them turns to Kealea and Beldas respectively, not even eyeing you.

"Cultists! Eey've triggered da rune unce an washed down on ere rear ends, but dey be climbing up again already!"

Kealea utters a single command in Dethek and the blade of her mighty sword is washed in flickering blue flames. She grins wildly at Finwe and Qwynn as she takes a position with the other warriors.

"Ready yerselves, Lady of the Fray smiles upon us!"

Beldas draws two fine short blades from the sheathes at his hip and focuses for a moment before nodding to the dwarf who's spat the warning and turning to Dolan, Baldin, Daltin and Yohan and laughing.

"Ready yerselves, tis as good a day as any ta die in da fray!"

Daltin RockFist
Shield Drawf, Barbarian

Arriving at the stairs, Daltin moves to the front of the line and starts to strike himself in his left breast while alternating stomping his feet. a low growl seems to be coming from the dwarf as the ritual seems to be building. A few of the nearest Dwarves take a step away from the growling barbarian.

Qwynn Maraphiir
Moon Elf Ranger from Neverwinter Wood

Qwynn commands his pet to stay back and always at his side; he doesn't want to lose sight of her. After which he had so many questions to ask, but would have to live in order to do so. Activating his mage-hand he commands it to fly over his head and pour the light down the hall to better illuminate and "blind" the enemies. Then he readies his bow to attack.

OoC

I know the dwarves can see in the dark but us elves need a little bit of light, so if it becomes a problem for the dwarves he can always shine the lantern on the ceiling or walls so the light can bounce off a surface and not bother the dwarves.

And I also know the light will not "blind" the enemy but I just meant that to represent like shining a bright light on a target. The flashlight in the eyes technique.

Finwe Faline
Sun Elf, Wizard

Noticing the grimaces of the dwarves when he opened his lantern, he gives a shrug of apology.

Sorry guys, but my spells are useless if I can't see the targets. I have three fireball spells ready to go. I will wait till they engage you and then throw them further down the tunnel so I don't hit any of you.

Just letting you know so you are not caught off guard when the explosion happens.

With that he will try to set himself so he is out of the way, but can quickly step up behind the dwarven line and launch his spells down the stairs when needed.

Baldin

Human (Chondathan), Cleric of Lathander

Seeing the situation, Baldin calls out to the others, "I am going to place a wall of light in front of them. They won't be able to see through it and anything that passes through will be slightly blinded as they come to us."

Finished with his warning, the cleric casts his supplication.

OOC

Wall of Light directly in front of the opponents, so they would all have to step through it if they wanted to proceed.

Yohan Zebedee
Human, Chondathan, Paladin of Lathander

*CULTISTS ATTACK*

It felt good to have the weight of armor again ... going into battle with dwarves was new. It was Lathandar's will that brought him here, and it was a blessing to have Baldin the Dawnpriest amongst his saviours. Now Yohan was going into battle he raised his holy mace, for through this heavy mace he would invoke the divine power of the Morninglord, to smite his foes and way waste to evil as it is encountered.

Yohan was a Soldier of Light and totally prepared for whatever lay ahead, for Lathandar the Morninglord was with them... Baldin was a testimony to that with the 'Wall of Light'. This indeed was a blessing from Lathandar.

"Praise Lathandar, the MorningLord" Yohan responds after Baldin makes his proclamation... and considers his enemy with the light channeled through Baldin and insight granted to Yohan directly from Lathandar.

The dwarves had their own battle chants to the Lady of the Fray... Speaking of which, Daltin seemed to be getting into the mood with a dwarven battle dance. Yohan was fascinated and moved into front ranks beside him with his heavy steel shield and heavy mace at the ready. His attention was split between Daltin's antics next to him, Baldin to check his position behind him ... and whatever was coming from the Abyss beneath them.

'Dragon Cultists... I have a score to settle with you evil heathens !... hmmmm Dragon Cultists... what foul manner of evil abominations could we be up against ?'

It did not matter for all evil that stood before him from this moment was going to feel the full force of Lathandar's righteousness. Yohan grasped the holy relic he had gained from his holy mount 'Zephyr' between his thumb and the haft of his heavy mace as he had done many times before battle as it remained secured from the thong coiled around his gauntlet. It was the only holy relic from Waterdeep that Yohan had, a silver holy symbol of Lathandar... his knghtly armor, shield and holy mace had been taken by these Dragon Cultists...

The dwarf Daltin beside him was in for a front side show to the Morninglord''s wrath. Yohan turned and smiled as he made eye contact with Daltin, because the Knight of Aster was about ready to go to work for his patron Lathandar. His smile was one of peace and joy of the honor of fighting for divine purpose, some may see that as the smile of a fanatic, others would see him as a pious knight preparing for battle.

With a wide grin despite her concentration, Kealea completes a deep voiced chant to the Lady of the Fray and as it culminates, an aura of silvery flames, shot through with blue-white and amber sparks harmlessly washes over the chamber and the top flight of stairs.

"A consecration to the Lady of the Fray, to keep the undead at bay!"

With that, she moves to the front line with her flaming blade. Meanwhile, Qwynn draw his lantern and aims it at the stair. As if on cue, the light is almost entirely blotted out by the sudden appearance of a large humanoid creature, fully nine foot tall with scaled hide of a reddish brown tone and dragon-like facial features
including a long snout and small horns swept back behind its head. Its green wings, lightening to gold at the tip, flutter in the air above the stair, causing it to hover before the dwarven warriors. A long scaled tail trails behind it but of more concern are the four viciously clawed limbs it uses to rip and tare at Kealea, raking at her with its clawed feet! Though she takes some serious cuts, the wild warrioress returns in kind and slashes at the creature, burning it with her flaming sword as she lands a solid blow. The creature howls in anger

Finwe Faline

Finwe is caught a little off guard when the dragonkin comes flying up the stairs and attacks. He quickly decides it is a good time to try out the Hammersphere. Placing his hand on it he activates the object and a glowing weapon appears in the air behind the dragonkin. The weapon looks like a heavy hammer, consisting of a shaft long enough for two hands and a heavy round head. It swings at the dragonkin. It's aim is perfect as it slams the creature directly in the center of its back.

Realizing that the defensive line that the dwarves were forming at the top of the staircase was something that he had no experience with, and no ability to improve upon, Dolan decided to hang back, crossbow at the ready to snipe at anything that came walking or crawling up the staircase. He knew that as long as the front line held, his crossbow was the best way he could contribute to this battle.

Drawing his recently acquired trinket, Finwe hold it high and calls on it to summon forth a large hammer-like floating weapon. The dwarves sheer heartily at the sight of this hammer and more so as it smashes into the large flying draconic beast with a solid thud! The creature seems to shudder at the slam.

From down below, all present in the chamber hear the chanting of arcane and divine words flowing over each other and suddenly, two reptilian creatures with draconic features and decaying skin appear on the stair below the flying beast and proceed to spit at Kealea, their acidic spittle coating her and sizzling on her exposed skin.

Whatever is happening below, you suddenly hear the loud crash and flow of large quantities of water! Shouts and curses in Calant can be heard below as unseen foes crash into each other. The dwarves all have a laugh at this.

Qwynn jumps up on one of the fur lined stone beds the dwarves use to rest to get a better view and loose some arrows at the flying draconic beast, but the arrows are deflected off its tough hide.

The dwarf warriors meanwhile, slash and fire arrows at the beast, but to no avail, their arrows fly wide and their axes cannot pierce its tough hide.

The flying draconic beast rips into Kealea once more with all four of it's razor sharp claws and this time, it manages to tear the plucky warrioress apart. Kealea collapses to the ground as the creature gleefully hovers above her with its beating wings!

Dolan moves back and readies his crossbow as Daltin and Yohan move to the front lines and prepare. The dwarven guards seem to take well to this show of courage as Baldin completes a supplication and a blinding flash heralds a wall of pure light springing into being before the stair, blocking all from sight!
As you await in patience, the rush of flooding waters can be heard on the stair beyond and the swooping of wings. Baldin alone, able to see through his conjured wall, is able to witness the sudden appearance of a large humanoid creature, fully nine foot tall with scaled hide of a reddish brown tone and dragon-like facial features, including a long snout and small horns swept back behind its head. Its green wings, lightening to gold at the tip, flutter in the air above the stair, causing it to hover before the dwarven warriors. Yohan and Daltin can feel the air upon their faces, even though they cannot see what lies beyond the wall. A long scaled tail trails behind the creature but of more concern are the four viciously clawed limbs. It seems to hesitate at the sight of the bright barrier.

Beneath it, Baldin suddenly sees two smaller creatures, large dog-like in size, but with rotting scales and flapping flesh framing their draconic features.

Beldas turns to Baldin.

"Cana they see us through da wall? Ya hid the enemy from us, can ya see what they be doin?!"

Finwe Faline
Sun Elf, Wizard

The glowing, floating hammer continues to attack the flying drake. Again the hammer finds its mark and delivers more pain to the flying drake.

Meanwhile Finwe decides to bring some fire into play. He quickly chants out a spell and then points his finger down the stairs. A small pearl of flame shoots from his finger, down the stairs. As reaches a point about 15 feet behind the drake and undead drakes it explodes into a large fireball, engulfing the three drakes on the stairs, and above them, as well as anyone else another 20' feet down the stairs.

*WALL OF LIGHT*

Yohan was a Soldier of Light, but could not see through Lathandar's Wall of Light.

It was an onimous sign, reinforced further by the Dawnpriest Baldin raising his holy symbol of the Morninglord. Yohan turns back to consider the dragonkin of somekind that Baldin describes just ahead and potentially capable of using some kind of breath weapon.

"Praise Lathandar," Yohan responds to the growling Daltin next to him... and moves cautiously into the Wall of Light ready to be dazzled by Lathandar with his faith, heavy shield and mace at the ready.

The Knight of Aster took a walk of faith through the wall until he spots the dragon creature... and engages melee with Lathandar's wrath through his holy mace...
