image.jpeg.20b6e759626b7ffc84d6cc51e1d96b3e.jpegDaurant, Holy Warrior of Moradin

Giving the taller elf a swift nod of acknowledgement, Daurant hustles forward to face the ogre around the corner. Without hesitation, evading the flames, he looks up at the beast and grunts before setting into it with the twin axes in a martial display that seems both effortless and graceful, despite the clear weight of the fine axes.

"Put me in a cell ya oversized giant's droppings?! Pew, ya smell like it too!"

Pah! O Keeper of Secrets, guide me on how to HIT this bastard! Another one of Urd's shots failed to connect against the massive ogre, earning a disgusted scowl from the dwarven scout's face. And the new dwarf seemed to have the same cursed luck. Still, he seemed eager to engage in melee combat.

Which meant, maybe he could keep the ogre's attention focused on him while Urd and her allies could get into better positions into striking this foe.

Once more, Urd moved, scooting past Gerbimble and Christo to line up her shot...

Actions

Moving 10ft to activate skirmish (made move on Roll20).

Shooting Ogre hopefully.

Brother Christo Vanleaf, Grey Elf Bard-Cleric

spacer.pngQUICK STATS:  AC=19+2, Touch=14, FF=17+2 / HP=19/19 / Init=2 / Saves: Fort=4, Reflex=5, Will = 6  _____________________________________________________________________________

Dwarves, Brother Vanleaf thinks to himself. How can such compact creatures let their emotions interfere with their combat abilities, and yet be so successful and dangerous in combat, the Domain Priest silently wonders to himself as the raging battle against the Ogre continues to unfold?

Get into the rhythm brother, into the rhythm, the bard thinks to himself as he bursts out in a well-known Dwarven song of battle and conquest, which does not have any magical properties, but which he hopes will uplift the newcomer and allow him to focus on his attacks!

"Across grand misty mountains of cold, echo the glorious stories of old!"

"The legendary Axes of the Dwarves are upon you, our strength and resolve driving them deep."

"Feel their steely bite with each swing upon your fold, which leaves naught at the end as only widows' weep!"

If nothing else, the brave fellow is keeping the Ogre trapped in the oil fire which will continue to burn longer than it will take me to get another shot off on the creature, the padre mentally muses to himself in internal satisfaction that the battle is still winnable even though nearly every effort to hit the enemy so far has not been overly successful including this shot with his bow.

Since the gods are telling the holy man that his long bow is not the 'path' right now, Father Vanleaf stows his long bow and prepares himself for an entirely different form of combat in the foreseeable future, after all there was no use fighting upstream against the influences and machinations of the gods.

Ha HA! Told you they had prisoners, the skinny gnome says with a giggle, and suddenly has all he can do to step out of the way when the new arrival charges into the fray at Christo's behest.

Since he can do little now for the battle raging behind him, he looks to see if anyone might be following the dwarf.

The lamp oil burning under the ogre's foot burns him a little more before burning out. Daurant swings his weapons, whiffing through the air both times. Christo's shot misses and bounces off the ceiling. Gerbimble blasts him with arcane energy again. Urd lands a clean shot in his arm. spacer.pngQUICK STATS:  AC=19+2, Touch=14, FF=17+2 / HP=19/19 / Init=2 / Saves: Fort=4, Reflex=5, Will = 6  _____________________________________________________________________________

When the huge Ogre falls to the axe of the very Dwarf the creature had held prisoner and then is finished off by a blast of eldritch energy to its head courtesy of Gerbimble, Father Vanleaf breathes a sigh of relief as the Elven holy man smiles and says, "Praise the gods and well done everyone! Is anyone injured?"

Nonetheless, Christo keeps his loaded long bow in hand, after all little was known about the newcomer other than he took his rightful revenge on his captor which helped the party as well, plus the sounds of the just-ended ruckus might draw other undesirables to this location.

In an effort to learn more about the stranger, the minister introduces himself saying, "Greetings, I'm Father Christo Vanleaf. Appreciate the help defeating the Ogre," before looking and listening for the sight or sound of movement or anything unusual in the immediate area, especially focused on the unexplored direction of the complex.

Daurant, Holy Warrior of Moradin

image.jpeg.20b6e759626b7ffc84d6cc51e1d96b3e.jpeg"Hurrah! Had that coming kidnapping oaf."

Daurant grunts and lowers his axes, turning to regard present company. He seems to stare off into space for a breath before nodding slowly and hanging one axe on a hook off his wide belt before hefting the bloody axe and drawing a cloth to wipe off the ogre's bloody ichor.

"I've no injury, if'n you be asking me too, wouldna let this oaf do me or you any harm. I be Daurant Moradinaxe, holy warrior of the Soul Forger, Moradin. A pleasure to make your acquaintance Father.

Twas the least I could do to aid you for distracting this one and his tuskers long enough to make me escape with the other prisoners. Speaking of which...

Geradil, Courana, come out, tis safe for now!"

Daurant seems to be shouting, though not loudly, down the corridor he'd come down to someone unseen. Daurant regards Urd for a moment and smiles.

"Blessings of the All-Father upon you child. So what brings you lot to these here halls and for that matter, da you know where we be..?"

Gerbimble sighs in relief as the ogre goes down. And without any casualties at that.
He regards the dwarf who seems to be friendly enough.
"I am Gerbimble Rampulart," he offers, "servant of The Gnome-Father. And blaster of ogres," he adds with a smirk.
"We're in an old dwarf stronghold near Blasingdell, now overrun with orcs and worse. How did you come to be a captive here?"

Daurant, Holy Warrior of Moradin

image.jpeg.20b6e759626b7ffc84d6cc51e1d96b3e.jpegDaurant raises an eyebrow at Gerbimble , though it is hard to discern in his deep helm.

"The Gnome-Father? Can't say I've heard say of that deity! Mean you The Joker, Garl Glittergold? Is he the source of them fanciful blasts ya toss about?!

Well a servant of The Joker is welcome in the halls of me kin, which these surly be, or once were. A pleasure to make your aquientnce Gerbimble Rampulart."

Daurant tone seems to take on a slight reverence and somber note at the apprehension of their surroundings.

"Blasted tuskers and their ogrelord ere overrun me and knock the wind outa me on the road ta Blasingdell, following rumors of halls such as these.

Geradil, Courana, Blasingdell yer home..?

So what brings ya lot down into the belly of the mountain? Not the typical haunt fir most of ye lot..."

Daurant glances at Urd, clearly considering her the exception to that statement.

Appearance: 4'2", 182 lbs., Daurant has the pale skin tone of his Mountain Dwarf ancestors and a well groomed, waist length beard of silvery hue that would not shame him in any dwarf hall. His eyes are a dark grey reminiscent of the stone that makes up his kin's home. Strands of mithral and gold are braided into his beard, giving it a glittering sheen.

"Urd Dóttir til Manngi," said Urd, finally introducing herself. "Rumours of orcs holding up in here, preying on travellers -- maybe even trying to lay claim to any treasures left behind here. Orcs using plundered dwarven gear to harm others isn't something I want happening. We've taken out a fair amount, but who know how many are left?"

Daurant, Holy Warrior of Moradin

image.jpeg.20b6e759626b7ffc84d6cc51e1d96b3e.jpegDaurant nods approvingly at Urd's words.

"Tuskers be like thieves in the Free City, ya see one, ya know there be a hundred more ya don't see yet, an they always be looking ta steal Stout Folk homes and crafts! Sniveling sons of the one eyed charlatan!

If'n the tuskers have taken hold of these here halls, I pledge to aid your cause ta clear them out if'n y'll have me axes.

But first, this be no place fer the hin who were captive with me. I should escort them back to the trade way at least and home if possible. Will you aid me in this? They've no doubt families who'd like ta see em and with tuskers preying on travelers, as you say, they shan't be left to find their way alone."
