Almost on que a tall, dark haired half elf walks into the room flanked with two men. On her left is a rather plain looking human man wearing a holy symbol of Erastil. On her right is a man covered in jewelry and silk. Her voice booms as she speaks. "I'm sorry I wasn't hear right away. Some urgent business came to light and I had to attend to it. I hope you have been getting along." She walks to the front of the room and take seat at a table set up for her. "Tomorrow everyone will be given their missions. All of you will be going out into the stolen lands to reclaim some of it."

Scrag took a long pull from his cup, letting the ale linger on his tongue. Not that he was a connoisseur of the finer things, at least, not anymore. He barely remembered the difference between an ale and a beer most days, and with the swill he usually drank, it didn't make much difference. The stuff here was the fancy stuff though, what he'd been born and raised on. Not what you'd serve at the high table, not the drinks for the Lord and Lady, but still. What you'd give when you didn't want to piss of your men at arms.

He knew his family weren't the only half breeds, but he was still surprised to see another Half-Elf representing the Aldori. He didn't think there were more than 300 of them in all of Restov. Not that they were in Restov, but still. To see that the head of the Aldori Swordlords was one such was a mighty impressive thing indeed.

"I'll heh… I'll thank you kindly for the gift of drink and grub, your Lordship. We're sellswords, aye, but I've heard no price offered for the selling. What are we to be reclaiming the Stolen Lands for, exactly?"

She needed to make an offer before he could know if he should be turning it down or not.

Haughaloogie blinked.. They're sending us.. us?.. to reclaim stolen property? He looks over at Druknar, then at Scrag. Not exactly moulded in the noble baillif mould, are we? He then eyes the woman with the scythe, the mouthy gnome, the closed lip guy, the swordlord. This should be like an army thing, but with us it's more likely to be an expendables thing.

Besides the three of us know each other and the others should come along and do their part. Besides its something to do better then finding the local person to toll their wares. "

The half elf chuckled as she looked at Scrag. "Oh that's easy. You reward if you're able to do what I ask you is the ability to start a barony with the full support of Restov." She picks up a glass and takes a sip "But that wait until tomorrow morning to be discussed. Today is for meeting your new companions."

 

The crowd erupts into talking as Varn shakes her head. A voice that is unfamiliar speaks up from the edge of the table. A Dwarven man with the name tag Harrim " A barony is good. It's a place to sleep until the world ends."

Scrag rocked back in his seat, eyebrows doing a piss poor job of disguising his surprise at the Swordlord’s words.

Bloody hells.

She was just about the only person on Golarion who had the authority to speak those words aloud, and mean them. A Barony, a new Barony, with the full support of Restov. That was exactly the sort of thing the winds had been whispering to him about all this time. Sure, she was asking this little band to accomplish something that the whole Fifth Army of Exploration had failed to achieve. But he’d been looking for a way to build a legend, and Baron Davos Kir certainly had a nice ring to it. What better way to sharpen his blade than in the Stolen Lands?

“Aye, your Lordship. That’ll d-do nicely, I think.”

He managed at last, downing the rest of his cup in one long pull and looking about him at the others present. As ragtag a band as ever, but there was some real talent present. How would the rest of Brevoy respond if Baron Haughaloogie rose to the top of the pile? He almost choked on his ale at the thought, throwing the Goblin a cheerful (if cracked) grin when he recovered.

“Heh… well boys… looks like t-things are going to get interesting.”

He found a pitcher and refilled his cup, wine this time, as dark and red as blood on snow.

Haughaloogie nods at Druknar's words, wondering for a moment whether he'd spoken out, which of course he hadn't. Looking around the table at the disparate elements it was clear to him that they, being himself, Druknar and Scrag, plus that nice Cheliax lady who looked like she'd been dropped in a vat of blood, might have as much to fear from others of this expeditionary force as from the enemies they would encounter. Some were clearly nicer than nice and others were nastier than nasty. It was a strange feeling.. not to be one the dark end of the spectrum, but that one with the scythe would have to have an accident in the near future he was thinking.
