Time to resolve orc attacks.

  • Attacks vs. Thammegil: Black Uruk and one Orc Soldier (Arton rushes to Thammegil's defense, forcing the second orc soldier away from his companion). Both gain a bonus die because of Forward. TN is 17. Edit: The Black Uruk rolls a Sauron, which is an auto-hit and a crit for him. 3 damage, plus Thammegil needs to make a Protection test (TN 16) or suffer a wound. The Orc Soldier also hits for 3 damage.
  • Attacks vs. Blain: Two Orc soldiers. Both gain a bonus die because of Forward. TN is 17. Edit: Orc Soldier 1 hits for 9 damage (ignore the 10 on the feat die, it's an error) and Orc Soldier 2 misses (Gandalf).
  • Attacks vs. Arton: Two Orc soldiers. Both gain a bonus die because of Forward. TN is 17. Edit: Orc Soldier 1 hits for 9 damage and Orc Soldier 2 misses (Gandalf).
  • Attacks vs. Elhadron: One Orc Soldier. Defensive, so the attack loses a die. TN is 18 (Parry). Edit: A miss (Gandalf)

Dice rolls for Thammegil from Round 2

Whoops ... fluffed that roll ... let me roll the d6's and total up separately (too early, not enough coffee)  ... not that it makes any difference, the leather shirt he's wearing only offers 1d protection, so the maximum roll would have been 12 anyhow, so that's a fail!   Oof, and that's a pretty severe injury he's taken too...

Next round, I think he's going to have to fall back.

@theslothI'll have an IC up (possibly tomorrow) but that's indeed a (great) success so Arton should be able to figure out that they are about 500 years in the past, when the powerful Northmen nation of the Éothéod (who are the ancestors of the Rohirrim as well as the Woodmen and Beornings) ruled the northernmost vales of the Anduin, from their capital Framsburg (named after their hero-king Fram son of Frumgar who slew Scatha, the great long-worm, almost a thousand years ago from the present day (meaning about 2000 T.A.).

Arton hasn't heard of Haycombe before (except from Irime a few posts prior), but he can assume they're part of the same kingdom.

Edit: Remember that Lore is favored for Arton, so he can roll the d12 twice and keep the best result.

Stealth[7] (4,2) = 13 check

That's unfortunately a failure (Arton's TN is 17). I'll wait to see how well Thammegil does, but you can also feel free to narrate the outcome, if you want (or I can, after Thammegil's rolls/actions).

Thammegil's Stealth[8] (5,6) (favor) = 19 check...

[edit:  Well, I think that's a resounding success]

Yes, and I think the Great Success can be used to cancel a failure-namely, Arton's-as per the core rules (p. 19).

So feel free to describe how Thammegil (and Arton, if @thesloth wants to add his POV) manages to take advantage of the chaos to sneak out of the inn and closer towards the Alderman, enough to get him in clear bowshot. Thammegil can also help Arton avoid being detected (that's the failure turned to success). Then, feel free to take the shot (Arton can make one of his own as well). Feel free to spend hope as well, if you want-both of you.
