Dejrik Garraksen

"These critters are small, and lithe. Are you sure you can tie them up so they don't escape, and ambush us once we venture deeper?"

Dejrik tried to keep stern as he said this, but his doubts tracked along his face despite him. He wasn't comfortable with killing the kobolds while they were helpless, but he was less comfortable with leaving them alive.

Thoridin nods in agreement. Tightened bonds are harder to slip than you might think, and these look like a cowardly bunch anyhow. Disarm them, dump the weapons somewhere out of sight, and tie them up tight. Then, they can answer our questions before answering to the law, not the violent ire of a few adventuring folks. Besides, what do we have on these knuckleheads besides a few potshots in the dark and squatting? Hardly a grievous record of wanton violence I'd say.

Tala Silvergrave

"What mercy do you think the law will grant?  These creatures are at best outlaws, and so are afforded no protection by the commons, merely punishment.  At worst the Duchy would consider them beasts, fit only to be put down.  Deferring judgement does little save keep our hands momentarily clean . . . "   Tala looks down at the kobolds, studying them with a mix of curiosity and disgust; she'd heard of their kind before but had never before borne witness to one.  Much less many.

"Have we even tongue to negotiate with their kind?  If we can and they do reason then interrogation might prove profitable.  They have wit enough to stand for Bargle's employ, at least, and we might be able to entice them to turn mercenary for our cause if we might be understood."

Stoyan Barakovsen

"NO!" Stoyan continues his efforts at eliminating their enemies.

"If they wanted mercy then they should have surrendered."

Golon stared on in horror as his fellow adventurers started butchering helpless sentient beings. Please Stoyan, I implore you spare the leader. At least give him the chance to reveal any information. Someone must have been able to converse with their employer." Golon rushed forward looking for the more armored creature, his opinion of his company's morality plummeting quickly.  Though brave under fire they seem to be callously efficient at eliminating their perceived foes.

Stoyan Barakovsen

"Fine," Stoyan can now see that the fallen creatures are merely sleeping and does not relent in their slaughter. If they were to wake then the group would be suddenly beset, "I won't kill anyone who is tied up unless they try to escape."

Ashera Grequinal

Ashera stood up fully when the kobold all dropped, a smile crossing her face.  She knew her magic had power, but this gave her a confidence in her ability she hadn't had before.

Unfortunately, the relative calm of combat ending was broken by the squabbling of her companions over what to do.  Some wanted to kill all, while others wanted to save one for interrogation.  And she stood there, unmoving, simply shaking her head over the lack of communicating.

You are all welcome, by the way, she thought to herself.  She then moved forward, stopping just before one of the kobold, waiting for someone to make a decision on what to do.

"Well, if we wanted to negotiate, I am uncertain what our position will be," Astrid says.  "Join us?  This seems unlikely, as we have already killed a number of them whilst they slept.  Go somewhere else?  Only to waylay other passers-by.  What possible positive outcome do we see here?  As much as I regret cold-blooded murder-them-in-their-sleep, we've already taken that course, and I don't think we can go back the other direction."

Thoridin shrugs. It don't sit too well with me, but if we want to do it ugly, I guess we do it ugly. Cut their throats as they slumber, then scalp them as trophies. Perhaps the townsfolk will pay good money for those, knowing there are fewer kobolds out there in the world. Maybe we could put their heads on spikes on the castle walls and at various crossroads as a warning to the others, for they are a cowardly lot, endowed with more base cunning than courage.

image.jpeg.8b357043f0583d12f63d1aaa01b45231.jpeg Golon

As the dwarves and clerics set about quickly dispatching the sleeping Kobolds Golon attempts to find the leader and tie him up before the others complete the slaughter. Once restrained Golon revives the captive and begins to ask the creature questions in common. "How many more of you are inside? Where is your boss?"

The kobold awakens and looks around in panic. He struggles a bit but, finding himself securely tied, gives up. In a strange, dog-like voice, he growls. "We were paid to guard. The boss comes and goes; he isn't here. Look, if you let me go I'll get you money."

Dejrik Garraksen

Dejrik turned to the speaking creature, his face - or what of it could be seen - contorted in incredulous disgust.
"Money? That's what you think we're here for? That's what you think of us? Common Bandits? Thieves?"

His voice carried a venom most unlike himself. Even he seemed to notice it, as he took a second to catch his breath before calmly continuing.

"We're here to capture a criminal so he can be brought to justice. That is our priority. If you can't offer us anything to help in that ..."

Dejrik swallowed, all too aware of how tightly he was clutching his mace, and how what he was saying would sound. For a moment, he moved to put his mace back on his belt, but instead merely adjusted his weight and stood tall ... at least, by Dwarf standards.

"... then there's nothing left to negotiate."

Golon

Golon on a knee next to the tied up Kobold turns his head toward Dejrik shooting him am impatient look. "When the boss leaves does he go alone or with others? How long is he usually gone? Who else is here guarding while he is away?"

Stoyan Barakovsen

Stoyan stands nearby, wiping blood and gore from his axe, "When is your boss returning, creature?"
