Maze of Pillars

As Lars tried his best with the locking mechanism for the door, Darhana and Neskas made to climb down the central pit to at least investigate the shiny things at the bottom.

 

Lars Only

As you pull the lockpick out from the mechanism, you notice that there's a piece of it that's missing on the business end. The snapped lockpick probably won't much affect your ability to work on other devices in the near future, and ultimately will be easily replaceable, but this particular mechanism might now be jammed and will as a result no longer be pickable. You may have to come up with another way to open it.

Darhana and Neskas Only

As Neskas lowers Darhana down with the rope, you both notice it at the same time. Somewhere in the middle of the wall going down the pit, there's something engraved into the stone.

With some coordination and teamwork, Darhana and Neskas manage to lower Noriko down into the pit, and standing at the bottom, inscribed into the inside wall, Darhana and Noriko are at face level with the text in Varisian.

The text roughly translates as follows:
 

"Three to function,

But make great haste.

The door shall only open,

For those who cooperate."

 


As for the small coin purse and its contents, there looks to be 70gp in assorted change.

Pondering for a moment, she suddenly looks up, smiling, "Hey, maybe it means we have to hit all three buttons at the same time?"

As Azura, Darhana and Lars each push the round stone switches into the wall, an audible 'clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk CLUNK' sounds around and ahead of Neskas, the last of which seems to be coming right from the door itself. Indeed, the door itself seems to have shuddered slightly against its hinges.

As Neskas gives the heavy wooden door a push, it creaks on its hinges and opens away from the room, revealing a corridor that splits in a T to the left and right.

 

The left side corridor turns a corner and keeps extending away from his current position. The sound of the wailing seems more prominent toward that direction.

"Sure, just a moment to get around those pits," Darhana said as she moved towards the door. She would put the crowbar, first seeing if she could use it as a wedge to keep the door fully opened, just in case they had to move out quickly. Then she would wait for the others to come in so they could move on.
