Through the door, the large chamber beyond looks to contain a maze of pillars that obscure the far side of the room. Next to the door is a pair of brooms, possibly part of the implements the crew had been using to clean up the place. Behind her, the two horses wander slightly farther away from their dead, having not yet been tethered to anything. Main Hall Besides the fact that the scene depicted by the painting might be signifcant to the history of Sandpoint, there are still many things begging further investigation. Of what looks to be eight sets of skeletons, it seems only six had risen to give fracas. And then there are the two more recently deceased bodies, their packs as well as their scattered tools. Who were they? Did they suffer the same gruesome fate as the horses outside, or was their demise caused by something different? And the unopened door on the opposite wall from where Darhana and Neskas had found entry, to where does it lead? Maze of Pillars The light filtering in from outside is not quite enough to make out all the details in this room, however there's still enough to see where there's a path between the many pillars spanning from floor to ceiling. Travelling the wilderness at night was risky - even when you had perfectly good night vision. "Um. Someone should tether the horses." He points one long clawed hand back out the entrance. From his vantage point he can see the horses beginning to wander off, uncomfortable near the smell of death, most likely. "Not me. I don't want to spook them." He sniffs. The fate of the horses doesn't especially bother him one way or another. But members of the group might be upset if their steeds go missing. He lopes over to the nervous girl, and holds out his waterskin. "It's shock." He explains. "Drink some water. Breathe slowly. You're okay." He gives her what he hopes is an encouraging smile, but with his monstrous appearance and tusked mouth, it is likely more disturbing than reassuring. Mechanics Nothing to report. After securing the leashes, she returns to the other task at hand. Main Hall Inside one of the backpacks, Noriko finds a bedroll and two quivers of arrows. The other contains two days' worth of rations, a full waterskin, and a pair of smokesticks. Scattered around the bodies and the packs, there is also a light hammer of excellent quality, a chisel, and a pair of saws that look as though they were meant for woodcutting. Maze of Pillars Taking some time to take a good look around, Neskas notices that there is a host of pit traps within this room, well hidden by the ménage of pillars here. From what he can see, the pits are about ten feet deep, enough of a height to seriously hurt someone if they should fall in. Somewhere past the pillars and pits on the north side of the room, there looks to be some kind of mechanism on a wall. Perhaps a switch of some sort? From here within this chamber, the sound of wailing is much louder, and it seems to be coming from somewhere toward the southeast. He adds oil from two of the flasks he has for its use and with his flint & steel, lights a bit of tinder and then the wick. then with lamp in one hand giving him light, he carefully, and hopefully quietly, moves deeper into the room. Looking at the dead that did not move first - but at the room around them under the view of light.
