In her hurry to regroup with the others, Darhana's wild swing with the torch missed the skeleton completely.  As Kaichar and Lars mull and contemplate their options in the rear, Bianca frantically flips her spellbook for an appropriate spell to counter the undead horde.

 

Azura and Neskas each fare somewhat better, with the tiefling's wickedly large blade shattering the left femur of the skeleton next to Darhana, and the gnome's lanced charge stabbing right between a pair of blocking phalanges, and through the orbit of the one next to Noriko, sending its skull flying backwards without the rest of its bones.

 

With the fast action of the others, Noriko's wand misses the falling skeleton by an inch, and she's not yet managed to waste a charge of its spell.

 

Relentlessly and unflinching, the other four skeletons advance, seemingly without much sense of any clear strategy save for simply clobbering the nearest living thing within reach.  One of them swings for Darhana and misses, while the remaining three converge upon Noriko, two of them managing to slash the Tian girl with their rusty weapons, leaving deep gashes in her left forearm and left thigh, rendering her unconscious and bleeding from her wounds.

spacer.pngAs the skeletons move first on their turn, Noriko acts with unexpected swiftness to bring the wand up with it's held charge and after the first skeleton strikes her, she touches herself, expending the charge to heal some of the damage.  The second blow wounds her as well, so she is left stumbling back about 5' feet away from the immediate reach of the undead.

"Stay back." He tells the nervous wizard girl. "I'm going to go in now." He strides into the confined space, slipping his bulk past his companions to put himself between them and danger. Standing over the re-fallen body in front of Noriko, the tiefling takes two swipes at the nearest skeleton, his long arms sweeping through the air to catch it in the body.

"Just-- just a moment!" Bianca cries - not that anybody is paying much attention to her, with the skeletons bearing down on them. "Perhaps... perhaps this?"

Hurriedly, she runs through the incantations in her head. She doesn't know any spells for killing undead - why would she have expected to need something like that!? - but perhaps this can help?

Use Quick Study to replace my Ray of Enfeeblement with a Grease spell. This costs 1 arcane reservoir point.

Darhana's sword stopped against a set of chain links on the skeleton's tattered and broken chain shirt, but didn't seem to penetrate any deeper before she was forced to back off.

 

Squeezing up between her and the others, Kaichar's claws deliver a devastating blow to one of the skeletons advancing on the group, shattering the creature's tibia and fibula as he smashes down against the undead's left knee.  Shattered bits of bone bounce on the stone floor as the remainder of the thing loses balance and clatters harmlessly to the ground.

 

From behind Azura, Lars lobs a flask over her shoulder and nails the middle one dead in the chest, splashing some acrid smelling substance over the bones of each of the three remaining.  Though his act gives them slight pause, it certainly was not enough to finish any of them.

 

Busy swapping out spells, Bianca is the last to still be outside the doors of the Pyre, save for the two horses the group had brought with them.

 

From where she stands, the young tiefling woman is quickly learning how unwieldy an ōdachi can sometimes be in tight quarters.  Beside her, Neskas seems to be having just about the same amount of luck, which is to say very little.

 

With Noriko's quick reflexes having saved her life, she takes a step back to duck behind Kaichar, retreating with her back up against the wall.

 

Relentlessly, the skeletons continue to advance upon the hapless adventurers once again, but their attack doesn't seem to amount to much, with the one's swing failing to cnonect with Azura, and another missing Kaichar completely.  As the middle skeleton moves forward, it slips on what must be a still-intact piece of glass from Lars's flask, and it tumbles fowards, maiming itself on its own scimitar, and leaving it open to a cheap shot from Neskas.

Kaichar

The time for words has passed, and Kaichar wastes no time swinging one meaty claw and then another, his long limbs slightly cramped in the confined space, but his attacks bear no less of the ferocious strength that he can bring to bear.
