Chapter 2: A Return to Adventure

The shock of seeing real live ghosts causes Oliver to lose his balance. He does manage to climb back to his feet and reload his pistol. As he does this he moves as far from the creatures as he can towards the exit. He turns his attention to the elven woman in the room. "Hello, ma'am. Beautiful sheep you have, I assume you mean us no harm right?"

The shock of the pale revelation knocked Stavard to the floor. He desperately backpedaled and stood up in a series of awkward motions, then in a moment of clarity, tossed a handful of dirt towards the creatures. Were they incorporeal or no, he wondered...?

crunch

main: stand up. move: back 30 feet, directly due West. Can I toss a handful of dirt or dust or whatever as an on turn action, seems to be a pretty minor activity?

Turning his back on the stone to look at Oliver "are you a mad man!" he steps forward towards the mad with the gun, "Your first thought is to shoot it" he suddenly sees the others as their eyes widen, when Stavard falls to the floor Koji turns around to see what they are looking at.

As he turns and sees the ghost sheep and elven woman step out his eyes widen his heart pounds faster in his chest, he instinctively grips and holds out the symbol of the Father.

"In The Name of the Father; I bid you hold, state your purpose and desires or leave in peace to your final resting"

He didn't know if they were real ghosts of legend, or something else, but if it was a spiritual matter his faith would prevail.

Summer, Day 6

spacer.png The pallid woman does not respond to Oliver's entreaties, while Stavard's dirt seems to get caught in the ghostly figures, and to a keen eye can be seen slowly falling through them. It is Brother Koji who seems to have the most effect - his prayer is accompanied by a similar surge of something that is just hard to articulate, especially in this moment, but is definitely felt by everyone.

Those ghostly sheep closest, however, are unaffected. Yet, in the back, the ghostly woman and the sheep next to her seem to be frozen in place for a moment.

Harlan McCuddy

Harlan had been dutifully following along, not paying much attention to the people he was with, and more focused on taking notes on the ruins they had found. Quick, rough charcoal sketches lined the pages from his writing kit that he had brought along. When the screaming at the very obviously cursed rock started, and then a ghost-elf surrounded by hellsheep appeared, he was at first quite taken aback.

"Well, this certainly seems bad!" He shouted to Stavard, backing away even while he presently started trying to sketch a picture of one of the sheep. "Absolutely unprecedented... I think, anyways."

Summer, Day 6

Having exited from the shot stone, the ghostly sheep charge at Stavard and Brother Koji! The last sheep and the ghostly elf seem to come back from the power of Brother Koji's prayer. None react to Oliver's words.

Combat

The First and Second sheep quickly cover the ground to Stavard, and attempt to headbutt! While they may appear incorporeal, any blows certainly feel quite real!

Summer, Day 6

As the sheep swarm Stavard, you see him push away one before the other seems to try to take him from out of his line of focus. How he avoided it, you cannot begin to guess, but Stavard's VETERAN'S LUCK seems to be with him in this moment. Brother Koji is less fortunate, and receives a solid hit from the 5th Sheep, and is NEAR DEATH.

Reeling form the sheep attack, Koji falls backwards only to stop himself on a wall near by, "Father, who art with us in the field of battle, being forth you Merciful healing so that your servant may venture forth and cleanse this place"

Placing a hand upon the area where the ghost sheep attacked him there is a faint chanting sounds and before your eyes Koji's wounds start to heal.

He stands up tall, healthy as before and shifts his mace into his hand, "For the Father!"

The fey woman! Kill the fey woman! shouts Stavard - but his attention is preoccupied by the two sheep engaged in a fearsome melee with him. He jabs with the spear at the second sheep, the one that had nearly laid a crippling blow upon him. If the sheep goes down, he proceeds East as far as he can without exposing himself to an opportunistic attack from the other enemy.

Oliver starts to move toward Koji, then sees that the man has been able to heal himself. After taking a fast look in the direction of the woman he sees he has no clear shot at her yet. He fires at the sheep in front of him, aiming his pistol so his bullet would go down in case it somehow went through the sheep. As soon as he fired, he started moving toward the woman Stavard wanted them to attack, and reloading his pistol. "Stavard why the woman? Harlan either hit something or get us some help!"

Mechanics

Main Action: Shoot the sheep in front of me.

Move Action: Move 30' trying to stay along the wall until I get a better line of sight on the Elven lady.

On Turn Action: Reload pistol

Snapping out of his stunned state, Harlan quickly shoves his papers away, then quickly darts around Oliver and punts the sheep between Oliver and Koji, trying to buy the other fighters some space by kicking the sheep 10 feet away.

Brother Koji remarkably looks healthier following his prayer to the Almighty. Stavard's stab feels to meet just a little bit of resistance, but it does make the sheep itself dissipate. So too does Oliver's gunshot! Harlan, pushing his hands into where the sheep should be, feels cold, and while his hands can be seen inside and through the apparition, somehow, he seems to "grab" just enough of it to either move it, or convince it, or will it - back 5', interposing himself between the sheep and Brother Koji.

Meanwhile, the two that were stunned earlier by the might of Brother Koji's religious fervor shake it off, and go after Oliver!

Gunfire and violence was general in the abandoned temple as the dead tried to reduce the living to their own mortal state. Stavard had no interest in such a communion and drove his spear at the second ethereal sheep in front of him.

The spearhead strikes true and the sailor is showered in grisly ectoplasm as the spirit flails and squeals out an unearthly deathrattle, then moves no more. Stavard bangs spear on shield in triumph and he proceeds 30 feet Southeast towards the exit, ending about 10 feet from the bottom of the stairs.

The tide is turning lads. You better 'old fast!

Now that he has two of the bad guys on him personally, Oliver can't help his teammates any other way than taking care of those in front of him. Despite his loathing to fire at a pretty woman, he aims his pistol square into the elf woman and pulls the trigger. "Sorry honey." He mumbles as he fires, and quickly reloads the weapon again.
