This room is decorated with tiny, glowing points of light and scratched carvings of butterflies. Upon a short dais at one end between two hallways are two delicate bare feet apparently carved from stone. Chunks of shattered stone around the dais hint at the fate of the rest of the statue. Nailed to the wall above the dais is the preserved corpse of a hideously ugly gray-skinned horned woman. The wall behind her once bore a written message in flowing script, but it’s been scratched out and replaced by a new phrase.

You spend some time desecrating the desecration of the room. It would take for time and material than you have there to properly rededicate it, though.

B2

The centerpiece of this room is a tall statue of a willow tree carved from pale marble. Six oversized roots around the base of the tree resemble stone beds radiating out from the trunk, with just enough room to climb into them beneath the statue’s stone branches. Exits lead out from opposite sides of the room.

Perception 12

There is a disc-shaped indentation in the tree's trunk about the size of a human hand.

As Garion looks over the tree, one of the limbs reaches out and grabs at him.

Round 1 All PCs May Act

- I somehow forgot to add this part to my last post. This is a hazard. You can disable with Athletics or Thievery (expert) 25 to force or lever open a single branch, disabling that branch and freeing any creature trapped within. Thievery DC 29 (expert) to disrupt the tree’s magical animation, shut it down, and free all trapped creatures. One may place a (specific item that you do not yet have) in the indentation as a 2 action interact to shut the hazard down.

* The tree reaches out for Garion, smacking him with its wooden limb and Grabbing hold of the gnome. It then begins to squeeze and squeeze the life out of Garion.

* Garion may change his action.

* Nalah may change her action.

At the Gate, Drasil bids farewell to the little Goblin dackie, and to Bul'Ro. In private he assures the wargling: "Know, we are not leaving you here because you are weak, but because you are Strong. We need someone Brave to protect these people. Someone Feirce enough to discourage foes by their presence alone, and Wise enough to know when it is time to fight, and when it is time to parlay. The gods gave you teeth, and claws, but they gave you a voice as well. Know when to do both. Be Wise in our absence Bul'Ro. You will see us again soon." He pats the Warg affectionately before departing.

At the desecration, Drasil stiffens, but keeps his smile. "All desecration is fleeting, while the stars will burn forever. Yes, let's move this... thing"

"Don't... don't wear that ring if you don't have to Garion. Lies are like blades..." He glances as his staff, and takes the moment to shift it into it's form of an enormous Aldori dueling sword. "Dangerous. And I don't trust this place..." With that he gives his friend a firm nod. He trusts the gnomes judgement over his own, but still felt the need to give warning.

His thoughts of danger proved true, when the tree sprang to life. His buried fury at the fate of this shrine bubbled to the surface as he adjusted his footing, and sprang into the fray, transforming the momentum of his charge into a mighty slash.

Hamàrr raises his shield and rushes next to Garion (or in his square if moved). He maximizes the number of adjacent teammates to properly shield them from the Tree's attacks.

Without enough actions to free Garion, he makes an axe swing.

Kuz'Arak tries to help Garion clean the desecration as well, knowing the importance to Desna to both the gnome and Drasil. He keeps a watchful eye on Kajimara as he does this though, knowing that she still needs to learn how the group operates. He hopes that she doesn't wander off on her own anywhere. Following the group into the next room, the iruxi is surprised by the tree suddenly coming to life and grabbing at Garion. He looks at the tree, studying it for anything unusual that might free Garion.

He spots the Strange disc shaped indentation in the tree, and begins searching the room for anything that looks as if it might fit it.

(Use a seek action on north side of the room)

He feels confident that if something is there he will see it, and point it out to his allies.

As he begins searching, Kajimara runs into the room hoping there is a fight breaking out

Garion is a little disappointed, but not at all surprised, that his puppydog eyes have no effect on the hazard. Honestly, what did he expect from a stately marble tree?

He uses his reaction on the tree's turn (to no avail), and regains a new reaction on his turn.

While getting the life squeezed out of him, he considers escaping ... until he sees Kyros and Nalah coming to his rescue. He decides to wait.

Garion delays for everyone else, and will jump in before the hazard's turn.

* The tree reaches out for Garion, smacking him with its wooden limb and Grabbing hold of the gnome. It then begins to squeeze and squeeze the life out of Garion.

* Garion discovers that being cute is not the answer to all his problems. At least this time he's not being swallowed whole.

* Nalah rushes in to help Garion by pulling him free. She fails and gets smacked by the tree for her efforts. The Repostion action requires you to have have hold of a target first. I did allow it this time, but gave a bonus to the tree. Otherwise, you would have succeeded.

* Drasil's mad dash into the room allows the tree to hit him with a thick branch. The elf's sword bounces off of the wooden thing.

* Kyros isn't ready for the wooden limb to slam into him. However, he is able to make it to the tree and start working to deactivate it. Disable is a 2 action action. It took you 2 actions to get to the tree.

* Hamarr comes stomping into the room. He pays little attention to the swinging branches as he uses his axe to cut into the tree. It doesn't bite as deep as it should.

* Kuz'Arak doesn't see anything that might be of use to disable the attacking tree.

** Kajimara, who, until now has followed along brooding. Her eyes rolling at every opportunity and sighing heavily as if this is all such a tremendous chore, perks up immediately at the opportunity to bite something. Her verve is quenched, however, when she is hit by the stick.

[Round 1]

When help doesn't quite arrive in a timely manner, Garion tries to wriggle free.

Acrobatics to Escape

If he's free of the tree, he chants, "flee tree", and casts Time Jump to effectively teleport away. Then, from a safe distance, he casts Guidance on Kyros to aid the tiefling in his attempt to stop the madness.

Kyros has a +1 on an upcoming Thievery (or any other) check.

[Round 2]

Garion delays until he's free (either on his own in Rd 1 or with help in Rd 2).

To everyone's surprise, the little gnome (with little to no upper body strength) managed to escape the tree-hugger, and make it safely to the hallway. "Now if everyone can just follow my lead..."

Will Save DC 31

He tries to fight off some very vivid dreams, as he waits to see if Kyros is successful. Alas, Desna's shrine took a lot out of him, and he's less prepared than he thought.

[Delay for Kyros.]

If the tree stops moving, Garion cautiously returns to the room to offer healing in the form of Lay on Hands.

If the tree still has Nalah grabbed, Garion chants "blanched branch" and sends a Lightning Bolt at the tree, focusing on the branch grabbing Nalah.

Lightning Bolt +Dang Sorcery

[Tree/Branch needs a Basic Reflex, DC 27. (Can we focus on specific branches, or are attacks to the entire tree?)]

Lastly, Garion reaches into his bandolier to retrieve a Freedom of Movement scroll, just in case.

Anyway, not important as Garion escaped through his own means.

"Guys, we should get the hell out of here, it won't follow us!"

And Nalah tries to escape the grasp of the tree.

Escape

She succeeds and moves out of the room.

Just for information, the only time my party ever tried to destroy a Hazard it took us more than 10 rounds. I'm not sure I want to take the risk with this tree :D

* Garion, after giving his teammates the opportunity to be heroes, easily makes his escape. He then turns about and blasts the tree with a Lightning Bolt. Though much of it grounds. I mean it is a tree, after all. The Will save was only needed if you were still Grabbed, so no dreams. The tree took damage from the spell, but did make it's save. It's the tree in general.

* Nalah smoothly extricates herself from the tree's grip. As she withdraws, it punishes her by hitting her from behind.

When the warg closest to the tree is hit (and Garion has escaped, otherwise this goes to him), Hamarr quickly uses his shield to block the blow.  He'd like to make it to the bathroom without being growled at, and this seems like a good start. (25-DR12=13dmg)

As the tree lashes out at Nalah, Hamarr reacts with his retributive strike.  Seeing his last blow was ineffective, he pulls the axe swing short but reduces the damage to her (DR11).

On his turn, he raises his shield, strides next to Garion, and lays the blessing of Torag on him (+30HP, +2AC).
