When Kuz'Arak motions that we should separate the torturers, Garion nods. "Kyros, Drasil, do you wanna take two of these men into each of the two other rooms? Braz'i and I will talk to the remaining one out here." With the doors shut, Garion speaks with the lone enemy in the main room. "It will go much easier on you if you're the first one to talk."

(Note: Drasil and Garion have already made respective Intimidate and Diplomacy checks. Can we use those rolls, or would you like us to roll anew?)

Kuz'Arak studies the thugs and notices that one of them might be susceptible to the coercion of his allies.

"That one.... Pull him aside. We can get him to crack" He whispers to his allies. Then aloud he addresses the captives. "Well, it is a pity that you all wont cooperate. But my friend here knows how to make people talk. If you wont do it together, one of you will do it alone..." He shrugs and turns his back as his allies gather up the one he felt was weakest of the group, petting Bul'Ro and smiling. "They always underestimate us dont they. But the fact is, there are no lengths we wont go to protect our friends.... Their evil will be repaid in kind if they do not break..."

Fadelby is not only disinclined to keep you from thoroughly searching his place, he is also not able to stop you. However, there is nothing to find that doesn't belong to him.

When you separate the thugs, you are able to get more traction with them. One remains silent. Another becomes boisterous, telling you how his unnamed organization will kill you. The last one says, "My organization does not accept failure well. If I tell you what I know, you will let me go?"

As the group gathers together to compare notes, Garion weighs in. In a hushed whisper, he says, "If his information is useful, and only if it's useful, I'm okay with letting him go. We do need a lead after all." He admits, "Keep in mind, he nearly got away in the first place, but for a well-placed wall of rock."

Indicating the other two captives, he adds, "We have them to pay for their crimes -- not to mention a dead Heuberk."

Turning to Kuz'Arak, Garion asks, "With your medical expertise, any chance you can help Fadelby with his ... missing appendage?"

(@Dax -- Can Kuz'Arak try to repair the missing finger with a series of Medicine checks, or does that involve a proper stay at an Infirmary? If required, perhaps we can offer up our infirmary at the Citadel.)

Kuz'Arak nods to Garion and moves over to see to Fadelby.

"I'm unsure if there's anything I can do, but I'll examine him and see if I can help. Let me know if you're having a tough time trusting these men while you question them. I think I've got a good read on when they are speaking true or hiding something"

The healing you gave him will keep Fadelby alive. The finger, however, is lost without some regenerative magic.

Garion studies the frightened enemy and recalls what he knows about the Scarlet Triad.

Perception - Sense Motive

Society - Scarlet Triad

Garion nods and whispers to the group, "He seems legitimately scared. I don't think he'll cause us trouble."

Studying the strange symbol, Garion snaps his fingers and says, "Yes, this is definitely the symbol of the Scarlet Triad." He continues, "They're a criminal syndicate, specializing in slavery. I've heard that they have influence throughout Golarion." He concludes, "We may not be able to completely dispatch this evil, but I'd be willing to give it a try." He looks to the group to discuss the next steps.

Perception

Kuz'Arak nods in agreement with Garions assessment of the statements truth.

"I do not like that this triad seems to keep coming up around us. Especially since they seem so interested in the gates.... It would be wise for us to seek out more information about them. I don't know if we've got the power to take down such a widespread organization like that. Best be prepared for whatever they send at us next."

Believing that you will actually allow him to leave, the thug admits that they are on a personal mission from one of the group’s leaders, a fierce gnoll slaver named Laslunn. Laslunn is interested in learning more about Alseta’s Ring and has recently set up extensive operations in the nation of Ravounel, but the thug doesn’t have very much specific information about that. He was supposed to meet Laslunn at a shipping company called Sunset Imports in Kintargo.

In response to Kyros, Drasil nods firmly. He puts a hand on the young Fiendbloods shoulder, gripping him firmly. He thinks he understands how he feels.
"That could have gone much much worse. You did well. These people are lucky to have you." He reinforces his point with a sharp nod.

Removing his hand (and out of earshot of the captives) he praises the group.
"Thank you, Kuz'Arak, Brazi, I was a step or two from death. And Garion, capturing that straggler was deft."

He squats down and scratches Bul'Ro thoroughly behind the ears and under the chin, fishing around his bag for a treat.
"And where would we be without our strong young warrior. Look, not a scratch on you, not like Old Drasil."

Still patting Bul'ro, he adds embarrassedly: "And.. I'm sorry... I lost myself for a bit there. Just... I'm not... It's difficult for me, being around evil like this. This Cult, this Triad, we should go to Kintargo. Stop them there. That would be good." He closes his eyes for a moment, centering himself, before opening them and straightening up.

"We need answers, that is where we will find them."

Garion listens as the thug describes Lazlunn. "Any distinguishing marks, so we'll know which gnoll we need to deal with?"

I'm assuming we get some kind of description of him. Maybe this includes a picture in the handouts?

Garion agrees with Drasil and Kuz'Arak. "Yes, we should investigate and stop them." Indicating their captive, he adds, "I trust we'll honor our word and let this one go? And call the authorities for the others?" He concludes, "Then we could probably use some rest before heading to Kintargo."

How long is the journey to Kintargo?

Can we make any Society (or other) checks to learn more about Laslunn or Sunset Imports?

Kuz'Arak smiles warmly at Drasil as he stammers out his apology. "My friend, you need not feel sorry for feeling such anger at the actions of these evil men. It is your righteous might that carries us onward to do whats right and not just what is best for us. I thank you for pushing us to confront them. Now Kintargo... That sounds like the next best place to venture. Dealing with their boss will hopefully put a stop to this triad's curiosity about the ring."

Oops! I gave the wrong info about the Scarlet Triad. You have that stuff plus this stuff.

Scarlet Triad Info: The Scarlet Triad is a mercantile consortium based in Katapesh whose interests are diverse and varied. Their primary business is importing and exporting luxuries, spices, magic items, and texts—but in recent years they have also started to facilitate the placement of specialist experts and mercenaries for other organizations with particular needs. The Scarlet Triad was founded not long after the Age of Lost Omens began, when an already powerful merchant’s guild in Katapesh merged with a fleet of traders who ran the route between Katapesh and Cheliax and a dwarven trade organization who maintained relations between the Five Kings Mountains and Katapesh.
The Scarlet Triad is based in a structure called the Red Pyramid in the city of Katapesh, and they are currently in good standing with that city’s Pactmasters—as a result, the organization has the protection and sponsorship of one of the region’s largest and most powerful city governments. The Scarlet Triad is notoriously private, and additional details about their organization and leadership cannot be learned via Gather Information or Recall Knowledge, other than of rumors that the Scarlet Triad has recently began to dabble in the slave trade.

You can attempt to learn more of Sunset Imports using Society or some mercantile or mercantile adjacent lore.

Kintargo is on the western shore of Avistan. The Dreamgate can be opened using Eclipse, the starknife you got from the Ekujae to get there quickly.

Presumably we got a description of Laslunn, or maybe he's the only gnoll at Sunset Imports?

Once the enemy has shared the information on the Scarlet Triad, Sunset Imports, and Laslunn, Garion moves to untie him. "We urge you to use your second chance wisely ... make better choices." True to his word, Garion frees the cooperative thug and sends him off.

Turning to the group, "So we'll inform the authorities about the remaining thugs on our our way back to the Citadel, get some rest, and head to Kintargo?" Garion considers what he knows of Sunset Imports.
