Kendrick swallowed hard, forcing down his fear. He was not normally this far forward. And Aranaias seemed to think they were at the cave entrance. He needed to force their hand, make them show themselves.

"Uncle Vilnya, now would be an excellent time to summon the family. I need them in all their fury."

Storm of SoulsKendrick casts storm of souls at the entrance to the cave, centered half in half out of the cave. He's hoping to force whatever is out there to reveal itself. 7D8 damage, undead take double.

STORM OF SOULS
You can summon the spirits of your ancestors to attack in a ghostly barrage—their fury creates physical wounds on creatures in the area. The storm has a range of 100 feet and is a 20-foot-radius burst. Objects and creatures in the area take 1d8 hit points of damage for every two oracle levels you possess. Undead creatures in the area take 1d8 points of damage for every oracle level you possess. A successful Fortitude save reduces the damage to half. You must be at least 7th level to select this revelation. You can use this ability once per day, plus one additional time per day at 11th level and every four levels thereafter.

Seeing that there is no enemy to be seen, Edmund shifts around a bit and assumes both the Running Hunter Stance and activates his 'Zone of Nope' to be able to sniff out his enemy and, if possible, engage it as soon as it provides an opening for attack.

Aranaias dismissed his Wind Walk, moves into the cave and casts Invisibility Purge. Meanwhile, Edmund takes up a defensive posture and Duncan uses a wand.

Kendrick chants an incantation, a prayer of appeal to his ancestors. Uncle Vilnya's hazy form floats overhead, arms crossed.

"Yer gonna get stuck in this cave, lad. I hope ya know what yer doin'," the oracle's spirit guide frowns.

But the spirits comply despite Vilnya's opinion and soon there is a ghostly swarm of howling and moaning spirits whirling at the cave entrance. It doesn't entirely block the way but is certainly a barrier to anything large trying to get through.

Moments later, a form breaks the barrier of Aranaias's purge. Only the top half of it comes into view before it skids to a halt. At first, the priest thinks it's some sort of demon or evil spirit but after a second glance, realizes it's a Large creature wearing heavy full plate armor stylized to look like an evil spirit. The thing hovers in the air and then holds up a fist with his elbow crooked. It looks like a military hand sign of some sort. Clutched in the thing's left hand is a wicked-looking glaive surrounding by a dark flickering energy.

Aranaias can't tell what kind of creature it is. It's a Large creature. It's too well-proportioned and graceful to be an ogre, too bulky to be a troll. Could possibly be a hill giant, but again too graceful and the armor is beyond what a typical hill giant would have. It's unlikely to be a demon or devil since it doesn't have wings or other weird anatomy. It's possible that it's actually a medium-sized humanoid that has been Enlarged. Or perhaps some sort of shape-shifter. The mask is elaborately carved with large protruding tusks so anything could be behind it.

With only one of the enemies having revealed themselves so far, Edmund holds his position and maintains stealth. Maybe some other enemies will reveal themselves if he stays patient...

The demon-armored figure lowers its hand and then gestures to the left with its left hand, two fingers pointing, then lowers the hand and slowly slides backwards, disappearing as it re-crosses the threshold of Aranaias's spell.

The demon-armored figure reappears, crossing the bubble of the Invisibility Purge. Moments later, a hooded avian creature appears on the other side of the area of effect. The heroes immediately recognize Krekie, the sullen tengu from the Prince's ball.

The heroes remain cautious, waiting for the enemy to make their move, so move they do. Krekie squints into the cave, eyeing the storm of souls suspiciously.

It's your turn: we've moved to block initiative so you can all take another turn.

With their opponents focused on the ghostly emanations Kendrick decides to remove one player from the game. With a little luck, they might even blame the spirits.

"No, not the demon armor guy. The Tengu is likely a caster. It doesn't matter what his specialty is. Start at the top and work your way down."

Kendrick casts Spellcrash (affects 5th level slots and below)

Aranaias positions himself so any physical attack from Shinobi has to pass under the trapped ceiling.

He calls out to the Tengu:”Hail Krekie! I have not seen you since the Prince’s celebration. Have you come to negotiate on behalf of Izenfen, or have you come to size up her opposition to determine if you should ally yourself with us?”
